【軽井沢vlog】夏の朝を心地よく|ひんやり朝ごはんとティータイム

Karuizawa in summer. Summer is short on the plateau. The chirps of the cicadas sound even more vivid. After a two-hour drive from my home in Tokyo, I arrived at my cool summer home. The room, still sheltered from sunlight, is dim and a little chilly. Even in Karuizawa, today’s weather is forecasted to be a summer day. It’s a dazzling morning, bathed in the summer sun. My recent daily routine is writing in this notebook. I’m thinking about the mountain lilies blooming in a corner of my garden. Writing such trivial things in my notebook suddenly calms me. I bought some vegetables at the farmer’s market. This season’s hottest items are freshly picked lettuce. Baby leaf lettuce, my usual favorite. Zucchini. Small tomatoes. Blueberries. And these are zucchini flowers. I’ve never seen them in Tokyo, but they’re apparently delicious in tempura. My other target was local flowers. This isn’t a hamburger, it’s a dorayaki (Japanese pancake) 😋 (from “Wa,” a Japanese confectionery shop in Nakakaruizawa). Lots of blueberries. It’s getting hotter every year here in Karuizawa. Watering the garden trees and moss gives them a break. A cool breeze blows, but the sun is scorching. The wooden deck is completely covered in moss. Scrubbing it with a brush won’t clean it, but it still feels so refreshing. I’ll bring out the parasol for the first time in a while. Let’s have some tea here today. I’ll make a late breakfast. A can of creamed corn. A simple soup that just requires mixing with milk or soy milk. A little salt. Chill in the refrigerator. Another dish is rice with parsley and cheese. Sliced cheese. (Processed cheese works too.) Warm rice with cheese and parsley. Olive oil. Salt and pepper. Make small rice balls. Thinly slice the zucchini. Remove the stems from small tomatoes. Avocado. Chop the walnuts. Lightly roast the zucchini for a fragrant, delicious flavor. Lightly grill the zucchini. A Meyer lemon. 1 tablespoon olive oil. Salt and pepper. And a little honey. A chilled glass dish. A generous amount of salad. Avocado. Roasted zucchini. Lots of walnuts. And Meyer lemon dressing. And this dish holds chilled corn soup. Plus a pinch of herbs from the garden (Italian parsley). Let’s eat!♪ The lettuce is so crunchy! Cool and delicious. Cheese rice balls…this is great😊 When I looked in the garden this morning, I noticed that all the hosta leaves were gone. At first, I thought they’d been eaten by a large insect. But after looking more closely, it seems they were deer. This had never happened before… Maybe they’ve just started coming around here recently. Today, I’m going to put some flowers I bought at the farm store in this basket. I put a cup inside the basket. I also added a little bit of garden grass and hosta. A lush sapphire thistle. The round pompoms are cute, but the leaves and flowers are all thorny. If you accidentally touch them, it really hurts. I wonder what they’re protecting themselves from? I’ve crumpled up the grass in the garden. This one looks like Annabelle, but it’s a Deutzia paniculata. This one is fluffy. I’ve made a fun flower basket♡. Let’s make some tea. Chilled green tea with mint and lemon. Mellow green tea, refreshing and delicious. There’s still so much sunshine, yet I can hear the sound of cicadas. It’s been a while since I’ve lit matches. Is it damp? Am I bad at using them? I always feel nostalgic for mosquito coils. The sun is setting. The leaves look like beautiful shadow puppets. Summer evenings somehow make me feel gentle.
