【軽井沢vlog】森の暮らし7年目の夏|カフェ風ごはんでひと休み
I arrived at my cottage in Karuizawa in mid-July. It was a slightly chilly morning. The smell of earth and the sound of rain. The green of the trees wet with rain is particularly vivid. The sound of rain falling on the roof. It looks like it’s going to be a rainy day today. On days like this, I spend my time relaxing inside the house. It’s been seven years since I started going to this house. This house is a “forest house.” I don’t actually live in a forest, but… This house is surrounded by tall trees, and to me, who grew up in the city, it feels like a forest. I was surprised to see animal footprints in the garden… Once after a typhoon, a tree fell on the roof… Sometimes unexpected things happen. A neighbor gave me a branch of snow willow, so I’m going to decorate it here. The leaves look cool. Let’s also add some red-stem “American pokeweed.” You can also see this pokeweed on the roadside (*it’s poisonous, so just enjoy looking at it). Leave the insect-eaten leaves as they are. One of the joys of living in the forest is decorating with wild flowers and branches. And best of all, this house can be used without air conditioning even in the summer. I’m really grateful for this coolness😊. In winter, it’s much colder😆. Today I’m making a “cafe-style breakfast”. 1 tablespoon of wine vinegar . 2 tablespoons of olive oil . A little sugar. A little salt and pepper. Simple with just tomatoes and fresh basil. Chill in the refrigerator. Asparagus and eggplant. Scrambled eggs using 2 eggs. 1 tablespoon of milk . It’s been raining heavily. 10 grams of butter. Whole wheat bread. Press a spatula against the bread, constantly stirring. Getting it fluffy…it’s quite difficult😢. Today is the first time I’ve used this oval plate. This shape… It feels a bit like a cafe♪ I put some basil leaves on it. Season with whole grain mustard, olive oil and salt. Let’s eat♪. It’s a simple but uplifting breakfast. It’s best to eat it with the forest air. The eggs are fluffy♡. The moss that has absorbed the rain is moist and green. The smell of the earth and the cool air are pleasant. It’s been raining for a while so I’ve had a break from gardening . On days like this, I feel like making something. Today, I’m going to make a small “name plate” for the herbs in my garden. This is a wooden tag like you can find in a gardening store. First, I painted it with acrylic paint… Let it dry. Then I wrote the name with a white pen. Rosemary. Common sage. Basil. I glued the branches I picked up with glue. This will make gardening a little more fun. I’ll use the remaining branches to arrange flowers for tea time. I’ll also put in this strangely shaped flower, “Ray Cesteria.” I’ll use a pitcher-shaped tin vase. I want to arrange them like flowers blooming in the wild. The raindrops are pretty. It looks like it’s going to keep raining. It’s been raining a lot lately so I haven’t been able to do any gardening, so the hostas and weeds are growing everywhere. It’s kind of like a “wild garden.” I think that’s also forest-like… Maybe a garden like that is just right for a forest house. Let’s have some tea. Jam from SAWAYA, a long-established store in Karuizawa. It’s not too sweet, and it’s my favorite. About two teaspoons of blueberry jam. Two to three teaspoons of apple cider vinegar. Add soda. Top with mint. A refreshing blueberry soda is ready♡. A beautiful red-purple color. I’m reminded that blueberries are red fruits. It’s sweet and sour, and it seems like it will help with summer fatigue. The leisurely tea time in the forest continues until dusk. The soft light spreads like a blur, and the room and the forest are gradually enveloped in darkness. The sound of cicadas. Summer deepens once more.
