本物の路線バスで車中泊してみたら、想像以上に快適だった…
Hey guys, it’s Yuuka! Today I’m in Nishi-Izu Town, Shizuoka Prefecture. The other day, when I took the Suruga Bay Ferry, I stumbled upon something super interesting, so here I am back in Izu again! What I found today is… a place where you can actually *sleep* in a real city bus! I’ve tried overnight buses with private seats before, but I’ve never stayed in a bus hotel, so I’m seriously excited! I wonder what it’ll be like… Do you recline the seat and sleep like usual…? Or do you sleep behind the steering wheel? I honestly have no idea what to expect! But tonight, I’ll be staying in the bus hotel and giving you a full report on the experience. Alright then, let’s roll… on the bus! But wait—can regular city buses even recline? Like the ones you see driving around town? I’ve been really looking forward to this, so I purposely didn’t look up any info in advance. I wanna enjoy the surprise of our first meeting… *feeling nervous* There it is! That *has* to be it, right? *Spotted a massive bus sticking out past the fence* We’ve arrived! This is the bus hotel “Basutei.” It used to be an actual bus stop called Ugusu Station back in the day. They renovated the place and turned it into a stayable facility. There’s an entrance in the back of the bus, and it looks like that’s where we go in. Whoa, this is so cool… It’s a real bus! I’ll give you a proper tour of this later, but— for now, I’m gonna go check in at the hotel. *Looks like check-in is done inside this building* Wow, this is awesome. Apparently, before the renovation, this place used to be a bus waiting area. Looks like you can check in using this tablet here. Let’s give it a try! Wait, it wants me to record a 10-second video? Uhh… what do I even do?! *Activating 10-second Kyoro-chan mode* Okay, I’m checked in! What is this thing? Look—aren’t these actual bus seats? Whoa, I think this is my first time really touching one. *Cushions made from recycled bus seats* And over here— they’ve got a whole lineup of Tomica toy buses from Tokai Bus over the years. Looks like they kept getting bigger and bigger! Wonder if the next one’s gonna be even bigger? This bench too, probably— it must’ve been used in the old waiting area, right? They said this bus stop’s been around forever, so I expected it to be more rundown, but— they’ve really renovated everything so well, and it all feels super fresh and new! This Ugusu Station building got retired by Tokai Bus in November 2023, and then it was renovated into “Basutei.” So it’s pretty new as a bus-themed accommodation! And over on this side, they’ve made it into a kitchen! Apparently this used to be the bus information office. It seriously looks like a brand-new building. The water area here is super spacious too, seems like it’d be great for cooking! *Even though I’m not great at it…* I bet the people who used to work at the info counter never imagined this place would become a kitchen someday. There’s a door over here too. I wonder what’s on the other side? Let’s open it and find out. Whoa, there are a bunch of doors in here… I’m going in! Whoa—it’s a bedroom! So you can sleep here too, not just in the bus? There are two big beds, and even a TV! *You could totally live here full-time* I wonder if bus drivers used to stay overnight in this room back in the day. How did they actually use this space? Now I’m really curious. What about this other door? Oh! It’s the bathroom. And it’s super clean too. I totally thought the toilet would be inside the bus, so… yeah, I’m relieved. Alright, now for the moment you’ve all been waiting for—let’s check out the inside of the bus! Got the key! Let’s go ahead and head inside from here. *Okay… this looks kinda crazy in a good way* It’s a bus… but it doesn’t feel like a bus at all! All the seats have been taken out, and it’s totally set up for sleeping now. Whoa, it’s so spacious! I didn’t expect this many beds inside! They look super soft and fluffy too. And this area over here is the driver’s seat. This is so cool. I don’t even have a license, but… can I sit here anyway? The back felt totally like a hotel, but this part is 100% bus vibes. Payment is due after you ride. We’re looking forward to serving you! Okay, I’m driving without a license, but… Excuse me while I take the wheel! Whoa. It’s huge. Wait, they actually turn a steering wheel this big? That’s wild… Alright, I’m the driver today, so… Hope you all enjoy the ride with me! This is so cool. Okay, so I’ve got the key, but… What if the engine actually turns on? There are a bunch of buttons everywhere, but I have no idea what any of them do. “Mic Volume” “Exterior Lights” “Destination Sign”…? Okay this is actually pretty fun. Oh look, a hat! I’m totally trying this on. If I were a bus driver, this is how I’d look. Ahem! Thank you all for boarding. This bus is headed to Heaven. That’s right—nonstop to Heaven. If you’d like to get off midway—*glitchy voice* If you’d like to get off midway, please press the stop button. Also, it’s raining today, so please don’t forget your umbrellas when you leave. Be careful not to leave anything behind. Oh, and just so you know—this bus uses a pay-after system. The fare is… $55,000 per person. If you can’t pay, you can’t get off the bus. Please keep that in mind. That’s my announcement! If you’d like to ride this bus, don’t forget to leave a like and a comment! Here’s what the view looks like from the driver’s seat! Everything is just so huge. This is so fun. Believe it or not, I actually have a manual driver’s license. So I kinda get how the shift lever works. I’m starting to feel like I could actually drive this! There are so many buttons around here… Like, way too many. Do drivers seriously remember all this? That’s insane. Look, there’s a key stuck in here. If I turn it, will the engine actually start? Though it’s seriously locked down with a big ol’ padlock. Should I try it anyway? Nope, nothing happened. Check this out— They’ve got an instruction manual just for the driver’s seat! It has a bunch of stuff written in it— “Preparation” Turn on the converter power Turn on the main switch Turn on the cabin lights Turn on the LCD switch Turn on the in-bus announcement system Hmm hmm… I see, I see. Wait… what even *is* a converter? I’ll give it my best shot… (kinda nervous though) So there are two converters in here. I searched like crazy and finally found the first one. It was under this seat right here. Let’s switch this one ON. It moved! Alright, we’ve got power now. Now I gotta find the second one. There it is—the second one! It was sitting right above the one I just turned on. I guess this is the right one? Now that the converters are on, next is the main switch. This is the main switch right here. It’s this button near the driver’s seat— I’m supposed to turn it left and pull it out. Alright, let’s try it. Turn the button to the left… …and pull it out! Got it! Next up— There are a bunch of buttons here, and I’m supposed to flip switches 1 through 4. Okay, moving on— Let’s turn on the destination monitor. Then after a bit of waiting, the monitor should light up. Yup, the monitor’s on! It’s showing all the bus stops along the route. Now, if I press this button here… ♪ In-bus announcement activated ♪ Thank you for waiting. This is Route 30, via Hondachino and Toi Onsen, heading toward Matsuzaki. Thank you very much for riding with us today. ♪ Just like that, the in-bus announcements work too! *While I was training as a bus driver… an unexpected visitor showed up* Hello there! *A sweet grandma from the neighborhood came by to say hi* It just makes me so happy to see this place being used… I happened to walk by today and heard it going, and thought, “Oh, how nice!” Hey, is that a camera? Yeah, I was filming with it! Whaaat?! This “mesulé” is a type of plum, by the way. The darker ones are ripe— super sweet and tasty. *She brought me some mesulé as a gift!* I’m gonna try one right now. Thank you so much! They’re even better when you chill them a bit. *A bus that brings joy to grandmas, too* This is seriously amazing. Since it was originally a working bus, it feels super real… like, it’s wild. When I sit over here, it totally feels like a bus, but when I sit on this side, it’s full-on hotel vibes. My brain is about to… burst. Here’s the stop request button. When I was little, my mom would say, “Don’t press it until I say it’s okay!” But now? I can press it whenever I want! Oh, you can only press it once? Dang it—I wanted to hear “ding-dong” three times! *Apparently you have to reset it at the driver’s seat* Alright, time for a quick bus inspection. *Driver falls asleep during inspection—oops* Good morning… Oh no… I totally passed out. I had this weird, kinda scary dream— I was on the last bus and overslept, and ended up somewhere really far away… But nope—it was just the bus hotel. (confused) So I went out shopping earlier, and got stuff for dinner. Time to get cooking! I’m going with yakiniku tonight! Looks so good. I also bought these—shiitake mushrooms from Izu! Down in the cabinet under this kitchen, they’ve got knives, cutting boards— basically everything you could need. This kitchen is *so* well stocked. Honestly, it might have more stuff than my own place. Alright then, welcome to Yuuka’s Kitchen— Let’s get things started! Here we go! It’s been a while since I last cooked anything. Sometimes for my membership videos, I’ll post little cooking clips and stuff, but normally I don’t cook at all. So now I’m out here, chopping stuff on camera… kinda embarrassing. *More embarrassing than being naked* In one of my older videos, someone said, “Yuuka doesn’t cook at all— you probably just eat Sukiya every day.” Excuse me—totally not true! I mean, at the very least… I can slice shiitake mushrooms. Like, come on. I’m shiitake-ing offense! *Just wanted to make a shiitake pun* Alright, all prepped! This bus stop actually has… a BBQ grill like it’s *begging* me to cook yakiniku. So tonight—it’s yakiniku for dinner! Let’s do this. Open this up… Oooh, lookin’ good! First, I’m gonna spread some beef fat on the grill. It already looks tasty and I haven’t even started! Mmm, that sound is so satisfying. This area’s way out west in Izu, but there’s a 7-Eleven nearby, and even a Welcia drugstore. So you can actually get everything you need here. There’s also a roadside station not far from here, and that’s where I picked up all these ingredients. Ah! It’s hot! Shield up! *Captain Shizuoka reporting in* I actually didn’t ride buses much growing up. Where I lived, there was a train line called Tenhama-sen. So I rarely used buses back in my hometown. The first time I used one regularly was after I moved to Tokyo— my first apartment there had a bus stop as the nearest station. So I really started using buses after I moved to the city. As a kid, I barely rode them at all. The meat’s getting grilled one by one… and they’re all looking at me like, “Please eat us!” Shall I eat the meat? YES or… yes. I mean, when was the last time you saw me cooking with this much love and effort? This is rare, right? Me actually cooking properly like this? Yuuka’s Kitchen is now complete! It looks delicious! Alright then, let’s eat! First things first—yakiniku sauce. Wait… somehow it turned into a lemon sour? Well, I guess I have no choice… Cheers! Delicious. Let’s dig in. SO GOOD!! This is absolutely amazing. It’s way too good… Yakiniku in Nishi-Izu is just unbeatable. I bought some pepper too. Let’s give it a try. No way this *isn’t* delicious. *Eating it with pepper hits different* So earlier I was looking at this route map on the wall, and I noticed a place called Tsuma that’s pretty close by. Back in middle school, we had this outdoor learning trip, and our whole grade went to Tsuma. We did things like riding rafts and staying in old traditional houses. I’m the type that gets really hyped for stuff like that, so in my head I was super motivated. Like, “Alright, let’s totally give it my all!” Even when it came time to row the raft, I was like, “I’ll paddle harder than anyone!” But while I *felt* that way, the reality is… I’m kind of socially awkward. So I didn’t really do anything. I think I kinda ended up slowing everyone down… *If anyone from class is watching, I sincerely apologize to each of you* So this hotel is called “Basutei”— it’s a combo of “bus” and “stay.” Get it? Bus + Stay = Basutei. Did you guys notice that? Before coming to Ugusu, this bus mainly ran around the Numazu and Mishima areas. It served as a city bus for 24 years, and apparently was called “Journey.” Wow, I didn’t know that! The former waiting area is now used as a dining room. Having yakiniku in an old bus waiting room— kinda crazy, right? It’s such a surreal feeling. If you book in advance at this hotel, you can even get a meal plan included. Nearby there’s a place called Shikinosato “Makiba,” and they offer things like seafood sets, or yakiniku sets— really fancy-looking meal plans. But since they’re kind of pricey, I decided to bring my own food this time. (saving money) Still, the hotel stay itself was pretty expensive— it cost $160 for a solo stay. I’m kind of a bus nerd—I ride all kinds of buses. I’ve done private overnight buses, and now I’ve even stayed in a bus hotel— I wanna be able to say that! *Gotta protect my bus nerd pride* *I may be broke now, so please send super chats!* I’m going to try the plums that the grandma gave me earlier. Perfect little dessert—I’m so happy. Sweet and tangy—so good! It was pouring rain this afternoon, but she still came by. It was cold out, but she made me feel warm inside. *Honestly, I kinda wish she’d stayed the night* That was amazing, thank you. Everything was seriously delicious. Alright, time to clean up. Now that dinner’s over, I wanna open this last door and check it out. There’s the sink, and over here’s the bath area. It’s super clean! And the ceiling’s high, too. It gives off that cozy hot spring inn vibe. You can tell this place is premium— they’ve even got toothbrushes, and lots of nice amenities. Of course, there’s also a hair dryer. Love that. Alright, time to go take a bath. Bye for now! I just got out of the bath. Should I sleep in the bus, or in the waiting room area? I thought about it a lot, but since this is a special experience, I decided to go with the bus! It’s seriously the size of a king bed. Tons of space! *Honestly just having the time of my life* I’m having so much fun, but… the light switch is way over by the driver’s seat… Guess I gotta go turn it off. Alright, I think it’s time to sleep now. Goodnight! Good morning! I slept *so* well. Lots of space, and the mattress was firm— just the way I like it. It got pretty windy last night, and the windows were rattling a lot, so it really felt like I was riding a real bus. Now that it’s morning— it’s time to make some breakfast! Let’s get started with Yuuka’s Morning Kitchen! Let’s go! For breakfast, I went with bread. They’ve got a toaster here too, so let’s get that going. I’ve honestly gotten used to life at the bus stop by now. Wait—where was the frying pan again? Nope, not there. Maybe over here? *Okay never mind, I’m clearly not used to this at all* I’m gonna cook some sunny-side-up eggs and bacon in the pan. Alright, success! I usually like my eggs more well done, but that would take a while, so I’ll leave them a bit soft today. ♪ Morning means bread ♪ ♪ Bread bread breaaaad ♪ But to be honest, I’m more of a rice girl. ♪ Morning means rice ♪ ♪ Rice rice riiiiiice ♪ *Me panicking over my eggs* That looks sooo good. Having all the cooking tools ready like this really helps so much. They’ve got everything—it’s super convenient! Though they don’t provide seasonings, so all of this I brought from home. Time to start topping everything. Egg on top. Then bacon. Looks incredible. Just adding bacon makes it look ten times tastier. And we’re done—finished! Yaaay! All done. Let’s call it— “The sandwich I made in the waiting room while waiting for a bus at the bus stop.” (sorry if that’s annoying) It looks amazing. Alright then—let’s eat! Mmm, so good~ (humming) Right now there’s a bus stopped outside, and buses have been coming and going since yesterday. So I think the station itself is still in use, even if the waiting area and info desk are gone. Seems like the stop itself is still part of the regular route. I mean, when else can you sleep in a bus stop? This was such a fun and unique experience. Thanks for the meal! Everything was delicious. Alright then— time to start getting ready to check out. Thank you so much for riding with us today! It’s been quite the journey. Next stop—and our final stop— is… Heaven! If you haven’t hit the subscribe button or the like button yet, please make sure to do it before you get off! *You can’t leave the bus without it.* I’ve only got like 5 minutes before checkout, so I’m gonna clean up and get ready to head out. Today I stayed at a real route bus turned hotel in Izu! And it was seriously so much fun! Since it’s a real bus, it was super spacious inside. There were even three beds, and it was super comfy. The driver’s seat was fully intact, with real switches you could press, displays lighting up, and even a stop button you could push. It felt like the whole thing could start moving! It was so cool. Although, to be honest… some of the switches, like the converter, were kinda tricky to figure out. But honestly, that just made it feel more real and fun. The waiting room area was also super roomy, with a kitchen space, and even a separate bed where you could actually sleep. The facilities were amazing—super well-equipped. If you ever visit West Izu, staying in this bus hotel might be a really cool idea. It’s a bit pricey though. Thanks so much for watching all the way to the end! If you liked this video, please subscribe, leave a like, and drop a comment! I’d really love that! Okay then, byeee!
