(On the way to Koganei park)
Hello everyone. Cherry blossoms have also bloomed in Japan~
Today, Iโ€™ve come to a new cherry blossom spot that overseas visitors might not know yet.
Itโ€™s a bit disappointing with the cloudy weather today,
but cherry blossoms are truly beautiful.
I plan to enjoy the whole day!
Shall we go?
I filmed the opening here,
and right behind me is a friend called โ€˜Koganei Usbeniโ€™.
(The year Mina was born!)
But whatโ€™s interesting is that it was discovered near here in 1988 and named.
(Thereโ€™s a strange sense of familiarity)
Though it means it was discovered around that time,
I feel some sort of connection.
I came here because itโ€™s said to be a hidden cherry blossom spot.
And indeed, there are more people than I expected, especially since thereโ€™s even an article saying โ€˜Today is the most beautiful day for cherry blossoms!โ€™
And indeed, there are more people than I expected, especially since thereโ€™s even an article saying โ€˜Today is the most beautiful day for cherry blossoms!โ€™
But since this park is so big,
Iโ€™ve visited all the cherry blossom spots that typically
rank in the top 3 in Tokyo when I mention itโ€”
Nakameguro, Ueno Park, and Shinjuku Gyoen.
Here, thereโ€™s none of that feeling like โ€˜Itโ€™s too crowded and complicated,โ€™ so it feels really comfortable.
And what I like is that the cherry blossom trees are slightly
lower here,
so everyone can take good pictures using the lower angle.
Itโ€™s great because the cherry blossoms are so close,
really beautiful.
I heard that this Goganey Park has various types of cherry blossoms,
adding up to about 2,000 trees in total.
So even if you come a bit early, you can see some flowers blooming,
and itโ€™s really charming that you can enjoy various types of cherry blossoms.
Whatโ€™s really interesting this year is that usually cherry blossoms bloom in Japan first,
then two weeks later in Korea,
but this year they bloomed at the same time
Thatโ€™s because Tokyoโ€™s cherry blossoms were late.
This year, they bloomed about two weeks late,
I heard that those who planned their trips around the cherry blossom season had a hard time.
Next to Goganey Park, thereโ€™s the Edo Tokyo Building Museum,
so Iโ€™m planning to visit both places together.
Everyone, weโ€™re here! Itโ€™s Edo Tokyo Architectural Garden!
It seems really spacious here~
Weโ€™re here right now, and there are various old buildings.
Hereโ€™s the mascot character! Itโ€™s Edomaru!
This friend was worked on by Miyazaki Hayao,
the director of STUDIO GHIBLI
As a big Studio Ghibli fan, Iโ€™m so excited!
They say this is a house built in 1942.
As a Japanese person, when I see concrete entrances and houses made of wood,
it brings back memories, you know?
So it feels cozy, and when you come in, the garden is also spacious.
Itโ€™s shaped like a triangle,
so I think a lot of thought went into the design.
It feels like visiting a friendโ€™s house and itโ€™s very healing.
Should we explore inside too?
Itโ€™s a cozy atmosphere!
The interior and the structure of the house are different from now, so it feels romantic!
The serene interior was so beautiful!
Even a cozy bedroomโ€ฆ*
It was such a great space!
Wow, itโ€™s such an interesting place and there are photo spots too,
(Thatโ€™s me~) so if you love retro,
you could spend the whole day here!
We took plenty of pictures.๐Ÿ˜Š
So, there were even students on a field trip.
You can explore not only outside the buildings but also inside.
You know, in Japan, people take off their shoes before entering the house.
So, for each building, you take off your shoes and explore inside.
(Pro tip) When you come here, itโ€™s good to wear easy-to-remove comfortable shoes.
I love visiting friendsโ€™ houses, and itโ€™s so fun to see famous
and special buildings all at once.
Wow, it feels like stepping into my favorite retro era
It feels like something out of a movie~ Beautiful, isnโ€™t it, everyone?
(Eastern Street Shopping District)
There are various shops along the street,
so it was really fun to look around!
From Dakei Sanshodo stationery store to Hanaiichi flower shop, and Gudera soy sauce shop,
the shops were realistically recreated, which was fascinating ๐Ÿ™‚
I think this might be the most popular place,
but itโ€™s truly a space full of retro vibes.
Here is a place that replicates a dried seafood shop.
Kannbutsuya sells dried food
Since Japanese cuisine often uses ingredients like kelp and seaweed,
they sell seaweed, eggs, and dried mushrooms here.
You can feel this kind of lifestyle
This is considered the signature spot,
so you must come here!
I think itโ€™s the most popular place!
Itโ€™s called โ€˜Goda Karayuโ€™, a public bathhouse.
It was built in 1929, and you know, it was the setting
for "Spirited Away"!
Since it has that kind of atmosphere,
letโ€™s go inside and take a look~
Goda Karayu (public bathhouse).
This atmosphere is new to me,
but I guess they change here and take a bath here.
Iโ€™ve heard that many old public baths have Mt. Fuji painted on the walls,
and theyโ€™ve truely recreated it here too
Wow, I want to shoot a movie hereโ€ฆ
And taking a bath costs only 12 yen!
Itโ€™s fascinating how the value of currency has changed
from the past to now.
It really feels like a time slip being here,
like a whole village frozen in time.
No matter which angle you shoot from, it feels like the era of that time, which is so nice.
This is a house called โ€˜De La Randeโ€™!
Itโ€™s a Western-style house where you can enter without taking off your shoes,
and I heard that the first floor here is a cafe!
I wanted to have something warm.
Because of the cloudy weather, it was quite chilly,
but melting away with a warm drink made me happyโ€ฆ*
It was a place where my friend and I could comfortably chat๐Ÿ˜Š
Guys~ the architectural garden was so much fun,
and coming out, itโ€™s back to the cherry blossom world.
The reason why I like this park is because ..
itโ€™s so beautiful and even though there are many people,
itโ€™s still not that crowded but comfortable.
Guys, I stopped by a โ€˜FamilyMartโ€™ convenience store
because I wanted to introduce what seasonal menu items are being sold at Japanese convenience stores in April!
because I wanted to introduce what seasonal menu items are being sold at Japanese convenience stores in April!
I found some cherry blossom-related desserts,
so let me show you.
(Ta-da)
These seem to be seasonal items only available right now,
so I donโ€™t know what they taste like and itโ€™s my first time buying them!
This is a cherry blossom snowball cookie,
and cherry blossom manju.
And this is a latte that I usually enjoy, but I bought it because the packaging has cherry blossoms on it.
(Lastly) Itโ€™s a tricolor dango!
In Japan, thereโ€™s a culture of eating dango
while viewing cherry blossoms,
so I think this is a must-have, and it seems like itโ€™s only available now, so I bought it!
Everything is pink color so Iโ€™m looking forward to eating it
but I definitely have to try manju
The cherry blossom-scented manju is also new to me,
so honestly, it might be quite unique..!
Itโ€™s really chewy!
How does it taste..?
Mmm, this is delicious!
Itโ€™s sad that itโ€™s only available now..
Itโ€™s so tasty..โค๏ธ
(Next is the snowball cookie)
Let me try the snowball cookie!
Here, the cherry blossom scent is just slightly in it,
so it tastes like a regular snowball cookie!
(Crunch crunch)
This one is like a plain dango without anything inside!
(Taking a bite!)
Mmm, no need for explanations, itโ€™s delicious~
Itโ€™s chewy and savory, making you want to keep eating.
Enjoying tasty snacks with the cherry blossom scenery made it even more enjoyable~โค๏ธ
I waited because I heard that the view of the sunset and the lighting up was beautiful, and itโ€™s really beautiful!
โ€˜Yosakuraโ€™ means night cherry blossoms, you know?
Itโ€™s a great space where you can also enjoy the nighttime vibe.
It was even better because it had a different atmosphere from the daytime.
How was your cherry blossom viewing at Goganey Park today?
It was my first time here too, but the timing for the cherry blossoms was perfect, so I enjoyed the view beautifully.
The building museum was also perfect for taking photos!
Koganei Park is about a 20-minute ride from Shinjuku,
and you can take a bus from Musashi-Koganei Station
Then thatโ€™s it for todayโ€™s video~
Bye bye~
