窪塚愛流の人生に欠かせない10のアイテム | 10 Essentials | GQ JAPAN

Well, it’s a gift from my dad. But it’s not like I’m wearing it to remember him. No such thing. Seriously. Hi, GQ JAPAN. I’m Airu Kubozuka. “10 Essentials.” I’d like to show you my 10 most essential items. All right, let’s go! First up. My car.

I told my dad I wanted to get a motorcycle license at 16, and he said okay. But when I turned 16, his expression changed and he said no. “If you crash, your body takes the blow. Don’t do it.” “But, I’ll buy you a car when you turn 18.”

Well, none of my peers were riding motorcycles then. So, I waited. It’s a customized “Hilux Surf 185.” I was told I could change the tires and seats inside to what I like. It was love at first sight, and I even picked the color myself. I don’t find long drives tiring.

I surf, so I’d drive to Wakayama or Tokushima. My younger sis is entering elementary school soon. Till then, I’d go to her preschool to pick her up with my mom. These are my memories. Next item. Sunglasses. I wear them even at night.

When I put together an outfit, I’d create a character for myself. “It’d be fun to have this character.” Putting on sunglasses is a must for such occasions. These GENTLE MONSTER ones. They’re simply unparalleled. I’d wear these at night too as they’re not too dark. This non-prescription pair is by Calvin Klein.

I got it as a gift when I modeled for them. It looks a bit off, right? I was pondering which ones to bring to this show and laid out my glasses on the floor. I almost fell and stepped on this when I steadied myself. I’ll get it fixed later.

I watched my dad’s “10 Essentials” episode. He had a lot of stories to tell even for just one item. I watched and learned as I found it interesting. He talked about his family at the end. I was a bit bashful. I truly love him as my dad.

But I can’t deny that I’m slightly embarrassed. Ready? My watch. It’s the Rolex Daytona. When I turned 20, my dad got this for me as a birthday gift. My fashion items are mostly white and black now. I was just thinking that my originality lies in darker shades,

And this is a simple white and black piece. It blended effortlessly into my fashion. My parent taught me that wearing good stuff will bring happiness. So I always wear this. Well, it’s a gift from my dad. But it’s not like I’m wearing it to remember him. No such thing. Seriously.

I had the most fun on my 20th birthday. It was definitely a memorable one. This will always be on my left arm. A watch that I’d wear forever. As you can tell, these are shoes. I got this pair at a vintage store at Shimokitazawa. I’ve never bought second-hand shoes before.

It’s made of snakeskin. The tips of the laces have an oriental feel to it. Comes with gold accessories. They would suit both formal suits and streetwear outfits. Immediately purchased without seeing the price. I’d wear them on special days like my birthday and such.

I’d surely wear these shoes on special occasions from now on too. It’s such a pair. Coming up next. Suitcase. This is a hand-me-down given to me by my parent. I already used it for trips before that. About four years in total. I like to travel out whenever I get a rest day.

I’d always use this suitcase for those times. It’s a cool THE NORTH FACE X Supreme collaboration. And it’s surprisingly roomy too. It complements my fashion and having it makes my trips extra fun. I traveled to Okinawa the most often in the past two to three years. I have a friend there.

Delicious local food places that are rarely in guidebooks. Beautiful sceneries. My friend told me lots of stuff that only the locals know. It’s a place where I get to have a unique travel experience. And this piece is always my travel buddy. Guess what’s next? The amulet in my room.

I think I was in 4th grade then. Our family visited a shrine in Kamakura during the New Year. An elderly man there was drawing white snakes. It’s supposed to bring success, good luck, and protection. By the way, this is me. My dad, mom, and I.

My younger sis was still in my mom’s womb then. As she wasn’t born yet, her snake’s eye wasn’t drawn. One piece had four snakes on it, and this is my piece. It has always been kept in my room in the house, constantly protecting me from evil spirits.

It’s the guardian deity of my house. Next. Record player. My uncle, RUEED, gave this to me as a present for my 19th birthday. I was so happy. Lately, when I come home, I’d drink alcohol as I listen to music on this. Grateful for a hard day’s work.

It’s an item that warms my heart that way. This record. It came with this player. When my own mother was around my age, she gave this to RUEED, and it now came back to me. It’s an album filled with history. I grew up listening to music.

I lived near the sea in the past. Every day, music would be blasted with the window opened. As a kid, I thought it might be a nuisance to our neighbors. But our neighbors below were kind. I wanted to watch anime on TV, but my mom wanted to listen to music.

I’d raise the TV’s volume to around 90 to 100. And my mom would raise the music volume too. That’s the extent of how much music was involved in my life when I was growing up. Bring it on. Beanies. I’m a “Beanie Man” that always wears one except during summer.

Most of the time, I’d hide my brows and pair it with sunglasses. This was a gift from Calvin Klein when I modeled for them previously. It’s my favorite. A hat shop at the Orange Street near Amemura in Osaka. I got this from there. Looks like cat ears.

I can do a black cat style with this. It’s so cute, I bought two. With this, I can be a white cat too. I wear this black GU piece the most often. It’s simple and easy to match. I want to pair beanies with sunglasses.

If it’s a cap, it wouldn’t fit in the position I want it to be in. If you look at my recent fashion and photos, I’m always sporting a beanie. One of my dreams is to collect beanies from all over the world. Search for beanies in shapes and colors I’ve never seen before.

Ninth item. Perfume. I got this as a gift when I visited CELINE’s pop-up store. It’s my favorite scent among all the perfumes I’ve used so far. It’s been my go-to for a while. Those around me will know it’s me when they smell this scent. And others don’t wear the same.

People would ask me what perfume I use on Instagram. I thought I’d keep it a secret forever. But I’ve decided to share it today. It’s not too strong. More on the sweet side. Well-balanced in every area. It brings out the sexiness in a man. Leads one to find one’s unknown side.

It’s such a fragrance. Last but not least. My friends. Played with my friends more than I studied as a student. That was why my grades were terrible. Now, we don’t just play together. We are friends who talk about working together in the future. Our genres and dreams are totally different.

We inspire and sharpen each other for the better. It’s an amazing relationship. In another one or two years, all of us from the same hometown intend to officially launch the brand we’re creating now. Do look forward to it. Each person is unique and incredibly passionate about his dream. That encourages me.

Walls like bitterness, pain, and being at a loss. I feel like I can leap over all of them with my friends. And the sense of unity. Our friendship is invincible and will not be defeated by anything. I look forward to my life ahead. Did you like my 10 essentials?

I’ve been following this show on YouTube. So when I was invited to come, I was very excited. I had a great time recording for this show today too. That was “10 Essentials” by Airu Kubozuka. See you again. Bye-bye.
