[SUB] 도쿄 디저트 탐방🥞 일본 대표 간식 도라야키 편 | 우사기야, 카메쥬, 센나리 모나카

Hello everyone, this is Fujii Mina. Japan has also become quite chilly. How are you Mint folks doing? When it gets chilly, I crave something like a red bean snack. How about you all? (When it comes to snacks with red beans) In Korea, I think of fish-shaped buns or walnut pastries.

In Japan, there are many snacks related to red beans, such as taiyaki, imagawayaki, and obanyaki. But today, let me introduce you to dorayaki! Considering that many people might know about it from watching the anime Doraemon, Dorayaki is the food that Doraemon loves so much, right? But I also love it~

I’m planning to visit a dorayaki restaurant~ I’m planning to visit a dorayaki restaurant~ Let’s go! Did you look into the origin of dorayaki? ‘Dora’ in Korean means ‘pan,’ and ‘yaki’ means ‘grilled.’ So, when you say dorayaki, it means ‘grilled pan,’ but there are various stories about its origin.

Some say it’s called dorayaki because it resembles the shape of a pan, and in the old days when there were no frying pans, people heated a pan and poured batter onto it, creating something similar to dorayaki for the first time. I actually learned about these stories for the first time.

It’s interesting to explore! It’s about a 10-minute walk from Ueno Station. Let me introduce the first store. It’s called Usagiya~ *Usagiya: A traditional dorayaki shop with over 100 years of history since 1913. It’s the original dorayaki shop and a confectionery selling traditional Japanese sweets. ~Mina is placing an order~

Everyone~ The smell is already delightful~ I bought dorayaki from Usagiya! And, feeling a bit greedy, I also bought the recommended menu, Monaka~ It’s a bit touching how warm the dorayaki is, and it turned out to be bigger than I expected. There’s no seating inside the store!

And the expiration date is only for today! They recommend eating it today! It doesn’t contain preservatives or artificial additives, which is why. If it’s okay with you, it’s best to eat it right after buying it! Wow, it’s an art~

Personally, the star of the dorayaki here is the red bean! It’s delicious >_< The red bean is really delicious. And when you say Usagiya, the name sounds cute to Japanese people, you know? That's because "Usagi" means rabbit, so Usagiya means a rabbit house. I looked it up, and it turns out the founder here was born in the Year of the Rabbit! So, that's why they named it Usagiya~ It's really cute 🐰 If I were to open a dorayaki shop, should I name it Dragon House? Hehe, I'm born in the Year of the Dragon 🐉 Since this place is quite popular, if you want to buy dorayaki after 4 PM, you can make a reservation by phone! And this is the Ueno branch, but there are also two locations in Nihonbashi and one in Asagaya. Be sure to visit! Well then, I'll head to the next place~ Let's go! *Kamejyu : A famous confectionery shop near Asakusa that even locals line up for. The dorayaki here has a diameter of about 12cm, making it relatively large, and you can also try the white bean dorayaki. There's always a long line whenever you come to Asakusa. I've tried it before, but it's been a while. Even though it's a weekday today, waiting in line like this, I'll wait for a bit and then try going inside. After about 10 minutes of waiting, I successfully bought the dorayaki. The line here is always so long, and I had thought I would have to wait But it moved so fast? So, it seems worth it, and since it's so popular, I felt I should give it a try. I bought dorayaki! Asakusa Kameju dorayaki Asakusa Kameju dorayaki I've only eaten on drama sets, so lining up and buying directly from the store is my first time. Probably due to quantity, there seems to be a price difference. I bought one of each, red bean and white bean. Even holding these two feels like a lot. First, let's start with the basic one, the red bean dorayaki. First, let's start with the basic one, the red bean dorayaki. I'll open it up~ Can you feel the softness? Wow, it looks like there’s so much but feels light, hehe. The substantial weight might be due to a generous amount of red bean filling, don't you think? The bread is incredibly soft, isn't it? It's really, really soft~ I'll give it a taste~ Mmm~ Here, both the bread and the red bean seem to be the main characters, rather than just the red bean. Mmm~ Here, both the bread and the red bean seem to be the main characters, rather than just the red bean. They're both main characters! Usagiya's red bean seems a bit sweeter, while Kameju's red bean is not as sweet as expected. If Usagiya's bread had a chewy texture, Kameju's is more soft and fluffy, with a more modest(?) juicy sensation? Aside from personal preference, it's surprising how distinct the differences are. Trying them side by side for comparison reveals the differences between the stores. There's still the white bean dorayaki available~ I'll also try the white bean dorayaki. **White Beanpaste dorayaki** Going by just the sweetness, the red bean is much sweeter while the white beans are less sweet. Going by just the sweetness, the red bean is much sweeter while the white beans are less sweet. Going by just the sweetness, the red bean is much sweeter while the white beans are less sweet. So for people who don't like super sweet flavors, I recommend the white bean dorayaki But personally, I seem to prefer the regular red bean dorayaki more. By the way, what surprised me was, chewy barley bread? It seems there's something similar to dorayaki in Korea too? As someone who loves dorayaki, I'd love to try Korean chewy barley bread since it looks similar. It seems intriguing! Comparing red bean and white bean dorayaki, here's **Mina's Dorayaki Gift Pro Tip** For friends who like sweet treats, go for the red bean dorayaki! For seniors who don’t like overly sweet flavors, white bean dorayaki is the way to go! It would be nice to customize the gift based on individual preferences. I enjoyed the dorayaki from Kameju so much~ Shall we go to the next store then~? Actually, out of the two places I introduced so far, they are two of the famous three dorayaki shops in Tokyo. This time, I'd like to introduce a slightly different kind of dorayaki In fact, while dorayaki has a traditional feel from old times, it seems to have diversified a bit to cater to the tastes of the younger generation (?). When I searched it, I found some with fruit fillings, and what surprised me was dorayaki with pudding inside? Personally, I became curious about this particular store. It's about a 3-minute walk from Sugamo Station. *Sennari Monaka: A dorayaki specialty shop with nearly 90 years of history, popular for its dorayaki with premium Japanese butter and kalpis filling. It's great that they bake it right in front of you. While waiting in line earlier, they provided a sample of the bread dough~ and gave me one. The dough itself is delicious and nutty, with a slightly sweet taste that comes later, which is nice. It shines. With butter inside like this~ you also eat red bean and butter bread in Korea, right? What's interesting here is that they sprinkle salt, so it must have a mix of a slightly salty and sweet taste, don't you think? They even have salt here, so it's quite an interesting menu where you can add more salt if you want. I've mentioned before that I'm not a fan of the mix of salty and sweet flavors. Even though I think it's not my preference, I'll give it a try. It's like art~ Ah~ This is the taste. Oh, the butter flavor is stronger than I expected! When you think of red bean and butter bread, it often has that kind of experience, where the butter becomes creamy. But here, it's the full, true taste of butter, so the flavor itself is different! I guess I shouldn't say that I don't like the mix of salty and sweet flavors from now on, hehe. This one has to be mixed~ This time, I went to three dorayaki hotspots for a special feature. How was it? I've never tried going to all the popular places in Tokyo and comparing them like this before. I was a bit surprised, thinking dorayaki is always delicious and that dorayaki is just dorayaki! That’s how I thought about dorayaki However, as I tried each one and compared them, I found that each shop has its own unique flavor. The points they emphasize also seem to be different. It was so much fun, and if you come to Japan, it would be great to visit the places I introduced today. Even if you can't visit, I hope it was helpful to you in some way. So, that's it for today's video. **Bonus Scene** And something I really like is the lighting here; It seems to come out quite nicely~ I wonder if it's a spot for actresses, hehe.
