沖縄をトゥクトゥクでドライブしてみたら、周りの視線が集まりすぎて…
Hey guys, it’s Yuuka! I’m in Okinawa right now. You know me, I’m usually driving around in my car. And today, I’m planning to drive again. But it’s not with Papa Clipper today— I found myself a brand-new buddy. Today’s partner in crime is… a tuk-tuk! Sorry Papa Clipper, don’t be jealous. But I’m gonna go cruising around Okinawa with this tuk-tuk today. Some of you might be like, “Wait, what even is a tuk-tuk?” So let me give you a quick rundown. It’s basically this cute little three-wheeled ride. Pretty wild, right? And yeah, you can actually drive it on public roads in Japan! The back looks like this— and apparently it seats four people including the driver. *But nope, not planning to use the back seats today* It’s actually kinda big, but still smaller than Papa Clipper. Here’s the driver’s seat setup. Fun fact—it’s got a twist-style accelerator. Like a throttle, basically. I’ve never driven this type before, so yeah, I’m kinda nervous… It feels just like riding a motorbike. It also has a brake pedal, just like a car. And right here is the handbrake. This is the gear shift, just like in a car. It’s got park and all the usual stuff. There are a bunch of meters here too. This one shows your speed, and they told me if it hits 120, that’s dangerous. It could overheat, so you have to stop and take a break. You can also turn on the hazard lights, switch the headlights on, and here’s the wiper. So many buttons everywhere. And here’s the turn signal— you flip it left or right, and it pops back when you press it. The rental staff gave me a whole rundown earlier, and I even practiced a bit, so I should be fine… hopefully. Alright, time to actually hop on! Ugh, so nervous… You have to straddle it like this. Kinda embarrassing though… So, what do you think? This is what it looks like on me. Do I look like a real tuk-tuk driver now? Alright, let’s fire up the engine! Ready… go! It’s running! Now I just drop the gear shift and release the handbrake, and we’re good to go. Alright then, let’s roll out! Whoa, it’s actually pretty fast. *First tuk-tuk drive in Okinawa—here we go!* It picks up speed quick! This is so fun! I’ve ridden tuk-tuks in Thailand before, but this is my first time in Japan. In Thailand, they’re everywhere, so it’s nothing unusual there. But seeing one in Japan? Totally blew my mind. So, what do you think? The back seat’s empty— I’ll give you a ride, 5 minutes for about $30! *Total tuk-tuk rip-off lol* If you’re used to riding motorbikes, this is probably easy. But me? I’m still not used to twisting the throttle… Still, it’s a blast. The rental lady told me it can actually go over 60 mph, so she warned me not to push it too much. I’ll try to cruise around 25 mph today. But right now I’m only at like 12 mph, so yeah, not really speeding at all. Feels way faster than 12 though! Honestly, it feels pretty quick. I guess because it’s open on the sides, you really feel the speed more. Okay, turning left here. Alright, pop quiz time! What kind of gas do you think this tuk-tuk runs on? Tuk-tuk fuel? Nope—the answer is regular gas! Yep, you can just roll up to a normal gas station and fill it up. Since I rented it from a shop, they treat it like a regular rental car. Which means I gotta return it with a full tank. So I’ll show you when I go to fill it up later. Hope I don’t mess it up… *Current mood: 60% nervous, 30% fun, 10% hungry* At least there aren’t too many cars around here, thank goodness. I wonder if people are staring like, “Wait, is that a tuk-tuk?!” Probably like, “Yo, there’s a tuk-tuk on the road!” When I rode one in Bangkok, the drivers were super wild— like rollercoaster-level driving. But my driving style? Way more chill. Honestly, I’d make a pretty good tuk-tuk driver. Maybe that’s my future career. *Dream job to put in my kid’s future yearbook lol* That old guy just did a double-take at me. Pretty sure I surprised him. But yeah, even in Okinawa, tuk-tuks aren’t exactly everywhere. It’s still a rare ride, so people keep staring at me like I’m super weird. Uh oh… a police car’s coming. Am I breaking some law right now? Okay, sit up straight and look innocent… Wait, the cop car’s following me! What do I do? This is actually terrifying. *Driving fact: having a cop behind you makes you so nervous* My heart’s going tuk-tuk-tuk right now (get it?). The name “tuk-tuk” actually comes from the sound it makes when it’s running—tuk tuk tuk. Kinda silly, right? The place I’m heading to now is actually a super famous spot in Okinawa. And they’ve got a drive-thru. So yep—I’m gonna try the drive-thru in this tuk-tuk. It’s famous, but I’ve never been there before. I’ve seen it around a lot, and I’ve been wanting to try it forever. Okay wait—this should be fine, right? I mean, can you actually go through a drive-thru with a tuk-tuk? The rental lady did say it counts as a normal car, so it should be totally fine. So yeah, I’m just gonna trust her and go for it. But what if they’re like, “Sorry, no tuk-tuks allowed…”? That would be so awkward. *If that happens, I’ll just apologize and leave lol* Okinawa’s subtropical, so it’s super humid, but riding open-air in this tuk-tuk feels amazing. Like, so refreshing. I think it’s just around this light. Maybe right over there? The cicadas are singing—definitely feels like summer. And… we’re here! Let’s check the menu. *This is A&W, where you can get big juicy burgers* “Go ahead with your order when you’re ready.” *Looks like I can actually order without a problem* One number 1 A&W Burger, and one Sparkling Orange, please. *Ordering with love, of course* Order complete! Phew, they didn’t reject me. Glad that worked out! Oh no… the front’s too narrow and the back’s too wide— I can’t reach the cashier window! Okay, let’s stop for a sec. *Is this even drive-thru friendly…?* Thank you so much! *Got my order safely, time to roll out!* People are staring at me like crazy. Parked the tuk-tuk nearby to take a little break. Now it’s time to eat the A&W burger I just bought. By the way, A&W only exists in Okinawa here in Japan— it’s a burger joint, and it’s super famous for being delicious. I went for the classic A&W Burger. Looks sooo good. Packed with meat like this— maybe roast beef? It’s got meat, tomato, and cheese all stacked inside. Yup, looks amazing. Okay, let’s dig in! Mmm, delicious. I feel revived already. This tuk-tuk honestly feels kinda like a motorbike, right? And I’ve always wanted to try riding one. There’s a scooter I really want— it’s called the Super Cub. Have you guys heard of it? I’m even thinking about getting a license just for it. Technically the Cub is a scooter, but I figure practicing on a real bike would be safer. So yeah, I’ve been researching it lately. *It’s a scooter, but since it’s manual, better to have a license anyway* Check this out— the tuk-tuk even has these neon lights! Press this button and boom—the lights turn on. Total party vibes, right? Like usually stuff like this is for— college kids on grad trips, all squished in and having fun together. Does anyone else actually rent one solo like me? She didn’t say anything, but I bet the rental lady was thinking, “Wow… she’s really doing this alone?” But honestly, she was super sweet. She said, “You really suit the tuk-tuk! You look adorable driving it.” Like… was she just hyping me up? I mean, I took it at face value and was so happy, but maybe it was encouragement? Still, I’ll happily take it! *If anyone else has ever rented a tuk-tuk solo, please comment!* All done, thanks for the food! Alright, let’s hit the road again. The view you’re seeing right now— it’s exactly what I saw back in Bangkok. Doesn’t riding in the back of a tuk-tuk feel kinda scary? It’s basically like, “Hang on for your life!” So don’t get thrown off, okay? Make sure you hang in there with me! Shade—thank goodness. So much cooler. You can’t tell, but I’m literally melting right now— sweating buckets. It’s over 86°F today, so yeah, it’s scorching. But maybe that’s just normal for Okinawa summers? I’ve been around this area a lot during my stay— there’s an airport nearby, and also a port. This time I actually came to Okinawa by ferry, docked at the port around here, and made my way over. *Suddenly role-playing a tuk-tuk driver* “Ah, just right over there?” “Ah, okay!” “Alright then… how about $1?” *When you don’t ride, the driver drops the price* “Okay fine, 30 cents!” “Deal—” “Ten cents is fine!” “Alright, hang on tight in the back!” “It’s gonna be super bumpy.” “So be careful, okay?” “Here we go!” *Top 1 “drivers you better brace yourself for” ranking* *While you’re here, don’t forget to subscribe and hit like!* This is so much fun. Rental cars in Okinawa are super cheap— like from just about $10 a day. Since I came here with Papa Clipper, I didn’t bother renting one. But honestly, flying in and renting a car would’ve been way cheaper. Even if you rented for like 4 or 5 days, it’d probably only cost around $100. Since Okinawa’s really hard to get around without a car, maybe that’s why rentals are cheaper here than other places. Pretty nice of them, right? This tuk-tuk is honestly perfect for summer. Like, couples could rent it— one drives, the other chills in the back. Cute, right? It’s also fun just cruising with no set destination. I’m not even using a GPS right now, just winging it. But honestly, everywhere you go here looks gorgeous, so free-driving like this is such a vibe. Oh hey, that’s Second Street! Looks fun. I love thrift shops like that—feels like treasure hunting. The rental lady actually gave me a speaker and was like, “Blast your music!” But since I can’t play it in the video, I’ll just keep it here as decoration. So yeah, let’s pretend I’m blasting music— I’ll just add some free BGM in editing. I’m finally getting the hang of driving this thing. At first I was super nervous, but now I can even handle the main roads. Gas station spotted! Let’s pull in there and fill up the tank. Hope I can manage this… (Fuel cap’s) on the right, so let’s go this way. And we’ve arrived at the gas station. Alright, let’s get this thing fueled up. Regular—fill it to the top, please. There are actually two keys, and you use the smaller one to open the gas cap. Other than that, it’s pretty much like a normal car. Okay, here we go— Ready, set… Got it! It came out to about $2. Pretty good mileage, huh? Super cheap too. All done! Alright, time for the last stretch. Let’s head back to the rental shop. Okay, let’s go! With a full tank, it kinda feels like it runs faster. They also had buggy rides available, but I’m glad I chose the tuk-tuk. It was sooo much fun. But I still wanna try a buggy someday, so maybe I’ll do that next time I see one. I actually wanted to try it in Hawaii too, but that plan kinda flopped. And now in Okinawa, well— I went with the tuk-tuk instead of a buggy. So where else can I find buggy rides, I wonder? I really wanna try one. But yeah, Okinawa sightseeing is best on sunny days. So glad the weather turned out nice today. There’s a roof on this thing, but— if it rains, water would totally pour in from the sides and drench me. So yeah, really lucky it stayed sunny. *Good thing I took my anti-rain-girl medicine lol* Almost back now. Kinda sad… I don’t wanna give it back. Maybe I’ll sneak it onto the ferry and take it home? But then poor Papa Clipper would feel left out. So yeah, I’d still choose Papa Clipper. Of course… I have to. And we’re back at the rental shop. Arrived! That was such a blast. I drove a tuk-tuk around Okinawa today, and it was seriously so much fun. One thing I realized though— driving it is actually kind of a workout. The steering wheel was super heavy, and I had to stay so focused that I ended up pretty tired. But still, it felt like the perfect summer adventure. Oh, and your fare today will be… about $8,100,000 please. *Driver was planning to scam you from the start* I’ll be waiting for payment! There’s still one more Okinawa video coming up— and next time, Papa Clipper will be making an appearance. So stay tuned for that! Thanks so much for watching till the very end today. If you liked this video, please subscribe, leave a comment, and give it a thumbs up! Okay, bye-bye!
