「日本にはリスペクトしかない!」外国人観光客にインタビュー|ようこそ日本へ!Welcome to Japan!
It’s like in in France it’s like a child dream for every people got my age we are growing up with the anime with the manga so it’s it’s like a dream to come in Japan oh really many of my friend are jealous that I’m here people are also
Very helpful and polite very polite and definitely well mannered yeah well disciplined well disciplin I’m half Japanese so I I us live in Japan as well but yeah it’s my first time being in Tokyo and Alla car so it’s uh where are you guys from uh from
France France south of France tus tus it’s not very popular but uh so you guys are here as a tourist or yeah tourist I stay in Japan one month we just arrived one week ago and we are staying for one month all around the Japan oh wow so where did you
Start TOA Ina yeah yeah 4 days ago 5 days ago uhhuh since then now you’re only in Osaka area or did you go to somewhere else oh tomorrow we are going to Kyoto uhhuh and after that we go to we have to go to hoshima uhuh Nagoya
Muuji oh and toky so far how how do you like it here uh it’s like in France it’s like a child dream for every people got my age we are growing up with the anime with the manga so it’s it’s like a dream to come in Japan oh really many of my
Friend are jealous that I’m here oh it’s nice to hear that yeah then what kind of like image did you have before coming to Japan I think we grew up with the anime so many people think it’s the same in Japan but I personally watch a lot of Japanese
YouTuber Japanese French YouTuber they speak French and Japanese uhhuh and they talk about the life in in Japan so they always say it’s not like in anime or com is not like in the movie and now how do you feel about the fil I love it it’s so different from
What you uh had in your mind right um not for me because I’m I’m watching a lot of YouTuber and they vlogging about the life in Japan uhhuh for me is um just the first time is uh exciting uhhuh but now I’m just chill and just uh I’m very good city and I
Just chill in in this city yeah we just relax kind of like a culture do you like besides like a subculture about Japan in front the the the history of Japan it’s not very famous I think we are knowing we know the the Edo Edo Edo period yeah that’s a
Very famous one but uh I think we only know the Japan from anime so maybe some anime with hisory about Japan but not the the serious story of Japan I think do you like like a Japanese Foods yeah yeah what kind of food is favorite um I really love the takoyaki I
Think it’s famous in Osaka yes and I really I personally really love it yeah well I love this odong yeah I love the the texture the texture oh he’s very good he he know more about food than me oh really yeah for the name or other the all food in the Japan I
Know a little but this uh yeah I don’t know too much about all the names I know what they look like not not the name ah have you ever been to other like Asian countries no that’s that’s our first time oh is there any like Japanese thing
Uh do you you want to bring back to your uh country some like a material or the way of thinking and those things um I think the maybe the calm parts of Japan like you can go outside from the city and it’s very it’s very it’s a very good
Place to have a rest to to think about your life and uh in France we have many big city and not too far from each one so it’s complicated to go in the in a nice calm place like for example this morning we’ve been in Nara and it was
Really um really calm there really really nice so maybe this for me for my mind and some materials of course like I think we are we want to get some kimono in uh kyot and um some some gifts for my family too mhm yeah but I think that’s
That’s all for me I will see if I see something else right right me too with my friends uh just uh in Japan I likeed feeling with people is very very polite people are very polite what kind of like the culture differen is you’ve felt so far I think
The the the way people speak together uhhuh the for me the Japanese people don’t want to disturb you if someone talk to you they excuse like to say you know they don’t want to disturb what you’re doing even if you’re just walking and inference people don’t take the time
To don’t to to be polite they don’t excuse or they they are very respectful with people around even if they don’t know them in France we are very respectful with the with the family but if we don’t know someone we we don’t care too much so the the people don’t uh
Approach approach to you so much or if they they do it they are very polite and they excuse many time even in the restaurant they say thanks all the time like when we come in when we hit when we finish when we pay they are very polite
So when you come to talk to you they uh I mean japanes people first say like excuse me kind of yeah yeah yeah and they are they are respectful I have this feeling I don’t know if it’s always like like this all right well thank you for
Your time where ask where are you guys from uh we are from Mumbai India are you guys here for uh traveling visit visiting as like a tourist so I work for in Japanese company so uh I’m based out of uh uh in Mumbai mhm from my headquarter is in
Here in Kyoto oh really so I came for a business meeting and she she’s my wife she joined later and we are exploring Japan from last 3 days and we are two more days here in Japan may I ask what kind of business like what kind of what line of work uh
Basically I work for a company and they manufacture analytical instruments analytical instr Precision analytical scientific and medical instruments oh and so there’s a headquarter in India and there’s a Japanese headquarter Japan only the main headquarter is in Kyoto oh oh headquarter is in Kyo branch is in Mumbai we have different different I
Mean each country we have our own uh subsidiaries the company has its own subsidiaries and I work in one of the subsidiary in India ah okay okay yeah and is this first time visiting in Japan no this is my second time for her it’s first time I came before last year in
May oh yeah okay then how do you like it so far like it’s excellent uh I feel Japan is very rich in terms of culture same India so we also have a long cultural history how you know India was rich and how it has grown over the
Period of years and same is Japan so typically I like how the Emperors has ruled Japan and the rich history of Japan so I’m fond of it and uh yeah definitely the castles I like a lot I mean in my childhood I used to watch so many animes where they show castles and
All so I was fascinated about it since then so I I particularly like the culture and yeah definitely it’s uh developed country so it’s quite clean you know the people follow rules uh they’re pretty much uh helpful and uh yeah most of the place we like uh
Because you know it it’s not that crowded so that is one difference I could see in India it’s very crowded everywhere and uh you know it’s very peaceful here because uh I would say uh the there are many rules which you know people follow
A lot but uh on a contrary side in India yeah we are still working on it so yeah it’s it’s the main different I could see oh so the for you Japan is not so crowded for me yes because if you have been to India you could realize that it
Is much cred way much crowed than what Japan is right now it’s a difference of population uh-huh uh-huh yeah it’s a hug we are almost first in terms of population now in the world so you can imagine how crowded will be you can say Mumbai is the capital in terms of
Business so Mumbai is known for business business capital of India so there are a lot of uh you know if you see any uh multinational company they’ll be having their headquarter in Mumbai so it’s a business Capital where in in New Delhi it’s an industrial Capital as well as
The actual capital of India oh but Delhi is on the Northern side of the India whereas the Mumbai is on the west side of the uh India so which is more crowded than I mean uh New Delhi and Mumbai Mumbai is the most crowded City I would say in the
Entire India even the population and uh uhuh uh yeah the space we have in India is pretty much less but the amount of people we have is quite large oh where which like a city or uh part of Japan have you visited so far we explored last
2 days Kyoto Kyoto we have been to all famous places like shimar shine an Imperial Palace uh n Castle N so all Heritage and cultural places we have been in last two days in Doo but yeah unfortunately we missed the Sakura so little bit later yeah it’s
Still I think two more months to go right in the March so we hope we will come next time to see the CH uh so uh uh are there any the cultural differences um interesting well it doesn’t have to be interesed but uh something uh you remember uh yeah one
Difference I could see is that while we go into our Temple uhhuh we remove shoes outside but I think in your case when we entered into Kum and I think we allowed to go inside with the with with the shoes yeah definitely not at the main uh place where I think Buddha
Inside of the building it’s not but uh oh but in uh in India India it’s the moment you enter the temple you have to remove your shoes outside oh really so the still outside of the building you have to take off your so normally the end entrance of the temple when it
Starts we have to remove our shoes outside and then we have to go and some of the temples uh there are rituals that we have a specific attire uhhm you can only visit if you have that attire uh War during that time we cannot go into this the clothes yeah the
Clothes has to be very specific to go yeah but on few temples only oh a few temples so basically we we have a ritual that uh three times in a day we pray God and uh uh with a lamp you know we worship them and uh we ask for blessings
Three times in a day every Temple but I think that’s not the case here this it’s kind of ceremony daily ceremony we have to perform for our God and another difference which I could see is that we have different kind of Temple for each religion there are many many religion in India
The main religion is Hindu but there are sub religions under the main roof of Hindu so they each religion have their different kind of ceremony to worship their God and uh they they daily have different routine for worshiping right so that is one more difference uh here I
Could identify because as far as I know in Japan there is only one Temple associated with Buddhism Buddhism right so I don’t know about any other religion if Japan has which has temples yeah BM or Shinto Shinto is ginger so uh right and have do you uh tried
Like a Japanese food it’s a more the Casual topic more difference I would say which which is very distinct uh you know in between Japanese and India cure in uh India in if there are very uh different type of religion as I said so we belong
To one of the religion which is under the main roof of Hinduism I follow jism me and my wife are Jin so we follow jism and it is uh it is based on uh uh nonviolence basically so believe in we believe in nonviolence so we don’t eat something
Which is made up of killing something so animal kill yeah so animal fish or at one point of time even eggs we don’t even eat eggs so we carry our own food with us whenever we travel so I have full pack pack with me whenever we are traveling so generally that’s the main
Difference but not every religion in India has this uh culture but there are few religion like brahin that is one category under Hindu and J jines jism who follow jism wow they they don’t eat eggs even meat fish anything so we are pure vegan so in your case then it’s
Very hard to eat outside outside in Japan we carry our own food we car yeah definitely it’s a negative side of our culture but I don’t mind it so we could not try any I mean we cannot explore food uh you know whenever we the main good thing is that
We are here to explore the beautiful places so we are happy in that case food is okay we can carry our own food uhuh people are also very helpful and polite very polite and definitely well mannered yeah well disciplined displ even the trains are very like uh there is
Everything written in English also mhm if you are traveling for the first time you can at least manage like you can find out the roots we have Maps also right so so we generally came via train only using locals or metros yeah we are exploring like locals we so that’s why
We are trying to Trel as as with your chetu and right right okay and how many days you have left in Japan uh two more days two more will be living okay well thank you for your time thank you for your time and where are you from oh from Australia Australia and
Uh which part of Australia which city Sydney Sydney and uh this your vacation or traveling Japan yeah um we’re on holiday for 3 weeks in Japan just going all around Japan oh how do you like it so far uh it’s pretty good yeah it’s very nice I’m half Japanese so I I used
Live in Japan as well but yeah it’s my first time being in Tokyo and all S car so it’s but you used to live in Japan I used to live in Japan how long ago um I used to live um when from like 1 years
Old to 6 years old and then moved to Sydney after that oh I see so do you remember Japanese can you speak yeah yeah I can speak a little bit oh okay nice so uh your mom or dad is from yeah mom is um from mom is from P okay
So this is your first time since then uh I’ve been on holiday with my family like every couple of years this is my first time just being with my friends oh okay and your this is your first time uh I went to Tokyo for a few days at the
Start of last year but this is my proper first time like going all around Japan oh so last time only Tokyo yeah only Tokyo oh what did you do in Toyo uh so we stayed in Shinjuku um and I was just there with my dad and my sister we were
Just exploring the city and doing a lot of shopping um and then we met my mom and my other sister and we went to Europe after that so it was a very very short trip in Tokyo oh can you like describe the differences like Australian culture
And Japanese culture yeah um I guess I guess Japan well I would say Japan is much more cleaner I guess cuz like for example like in Japan there’s not many like rubbish bin in Australia there’s a lot of rubbish bins and stuff um I yeah much more
Cleaner in Japan um more of an emphasis on respect here and like being respectful to those around you cuz Australia is like very very loud like everyone’s like in your face but yeah here especially like on trains um like one of the biggest differences you’re telling us to like just like not talk
Loud it or just like just talk like quietly and just be respectful to those around you yeah like you can’t have your um your like your phone on silent you can’t talk on the phone in the Subways and you to be very quiet and like even
Like customer service in Japan is a lot more like friendlier I would say like in Australia it’s a bit more like like sit here but where in Japan it’s like oh like you know sit here do you want water that kind of stuff I feel like it’s a
Bit more friendlier in Japan I would say for the customer service yeah uh the which city uh have you been so far uh so we started in Tokyo and then after that where did we go and then and then yeah and then yeah next we’re going to f uhhuh yeah and that’s
That’s the last year in Japan that we’re going to what did you do in Noya area no we went to Lego Land I had dinner with one of my friends that I had um from PR school and we had um M which is really
Good mhm um we did a lot of shopping in like um Sak and we got a facial as well EST kind of do you have that kind of the service in Australia we do definitely I feel like they’re kind of the same facials yeah probably the same their
Service or the practice is the same yeah the practice pretty much the same oh yeah well the person that did it for us was my friend’s mom so I already knew her before but she’s she’s so nice and so like accommodating and like asked a lot of questions and like offered a lot
Of things um and I feel it Australia it’s the same but I feel like in Japan it’s just a that little bit more kind of like friendlier and just more like oh just offering a lot of things I think oh yeah and have you been to other like
Asian countries uh well I used to live in Singapore for 6 years when I was younger um and so you like from Singapore it’s really easy to get to places like pet and quala Luma so when I was a lot younger we used to travel
Around there and I think we went to Hong Kong a couple times as well M did you feel the difference the the Hong Kong and the sing I mean Singapore and Japan Singapore is definitely a lot more different to Japan um I can’t say for certain for Hong Kong only cuz I
Haven’t I I can’t really remember cuz I was a lot younger but yeah I think Singapore especially was quite similar to Australia cuz it’s very International but yeah not so similar to Japan I don’t know if it is correct or or not but is it uh the people cannot
Chew the gum while you’re walking you can’t have gum there so we used to just when we were in preet we would just bring it back with us cuz they don’t sell it at all oh yeah so you cannot chew actually or is it okay to you but
Like you can you can just like have it at home but I think just like in public um I think just because people just put G on like the walls and stuff they just don’t like it uh and you don’t want to spit on on the ground yeah for you what
What is like a first contact with Japanese culture in your life probably when I met you to be honest because you’re my best friend and you half Japanese because like the first time I went to Japan was last year and it was for a very short amount of time but um
I’ve met your mom and I know your family so that was probably the first introduction so until then you were not really familiar with Japanese culture yeah no not too familiar oh so you didn’t watch any like a t like a TV program like a Japanese TV program like
A manga or anime those stuff or yeah I’ve seen a couple of animes like like death n yeah how about the Japanese food do you like Japanese food uh Love Sushi yeah I love Japanese food it’s it’s so good it’s so good and especially your mom is from fukoka fukoka is also the
The the place of cuisine yeah mom cook like a Japanese like um we have U mom makes like just normal like um K or like um Ramen like she makes a lot of that at home um but um do you know um yayi Ken uhuh um restaurant yeah my dad used to work
In a company so they brought over yoi to Australia so then yeah so like we have had yayi in Australia as well and we so good but it’s very expensive in Australia so we’ve had it a lot when we came to Japan and so much cheaper like
In Japan Like A tes would probably be like 800 Yen whereas in Australia it would be like 3,000 yen wow it’s very expensive very expensive triple or something triple yeah but uh the quality is the same quality is yeah it’s quality the same yeah but just cuz the foods are
Imported from Japan it’s probably more expensive in Australia yeah so the uh the recipe and the do are probably the same yeah basically the same yeah yeah like McDonald’s maybe I then U so uh the the rice is the same I would say rice is better in Japan and also cuz you know
How in you can get um free refills of rice like in Australia you definitely can’t do that but in Japan like you can get like as many bowls of rice as you want which is so good but I would say the quality of rice is definitely better
In Japan than in Australia okay yeah is there any like a Japanese thing uh tangible thing or intangible thing you would like to bring back to your home country um lot of like makeup and Skin Care definitely um for me I would probably get a lot of snacks and um my
Mom like wants me to bring like a lot of snacks and stuff cuz obviously you can’t get it really in Australia so I get a lot of snacks and stuff um and it’s I get those like um from temples I don’t know what they’re called they’re like
Good luck kind of like I don’t know what they’re called in japi Omi I get that for my um family so you like those like a retail retail store well thank you so much for your time
