【東急ステイ飛騨高山 結の湯】ホテル泊まり放題サブスク tsugi-tsugiで30連泊の旅!Vol.7
Hello, good evening, welcome to this channel. This is the 7th installment of the nationwide unlimited overnight subscription Tsugi-Tsugi 30-night trip. This is a video of my 3-night stay at Tokyu Stay Hida Takayama Yui no Yu. What kind of trip will it be in Hida Takayama?
At the end of the video, I also list the expenses I spent during my stay in Takayama. Please watch till the end. On this channel, we upload useful information about hotels and living abroad. If you haven’t subscribed to the channel yet, please do so.
After checking out of Toyama Excel Hotel Tokyu, I took the JR train from Toyama Station to Takayama Station. I’m now taking the 10:11 train bound for Igaya from Toyama. This is a two-car train. It’s a fairly old type of vehicle. It is like this.
The train was very empty and the seats were cross seats so they were comfortable. You will arrive at a station called Inotani and change trains here. This time, it’s not a cross seat, but a side-by-side seat. I’ll sit in the front row. We arrived at Takayama Station at 12:30.
It took us 2 hours and 19 minutes to get here, but the view of the river and mountains from the train window was so beautiful that it didn’t bother me at all. I couldn’t use Suica at Takayama Station, so I paid the 1,690 yen fare at the ticket gate.
This payment cannot be made by credit card either. I had already passed through the ticket gate with Suica from Toyama Station, so I received an IC card processing notification form like this. You will have to take it to another station to cancel your Suica at a later date.
If you are coming to Takayama Station by JR, please purchase your ticket at the departure station instead of using Suica. It was still early to check in, so I headed to the Maruake Hida Takayama store, which was a 6-minute walk from the station. This is a butcher shop specializing in Hida beef.
We also do mail order and restaurants. You can enjoy delicious Hida beef at a reasonable price. I immediately ordered a Hida beef yakiniku lunch. I was surprised that meat of this quality could be eaten for about 2,000 yen. I would like to come back again during my stay.
Then I’ll head to the hotel. It’s a short walk to the right after exiting the east exit of Takayama Station. You can see Tokyu Stay Hida Takayama “Yuinoyu” where we will be staying this time. It’s convenient because it’s a short walk from the station.
The lobby on the first floor has a lounge space typical of Hida Takayama, a famous furniture production area. There is a single board table here. Shunkei lacquered monument. The ceiling itself is a large work of art, as if various types of wood were assembled using traditional techniques.
There is an amenity corner in the lobby. I’ll bring the necessary amenities here. There are 11 types of amenities. Then I’ll head to my room. The room this time is 812. This wooden board with numbers on it also looks like it has been carved out of wood.
The uniqueness of Hida Takayama is conveyed through these small details. Now let’s go into the room. This hotel has a microwave and washer/dryer as soon as you enter. This is helpful. You can wash your clothes in your room. This makes me very happy. Detergent is also provided. This is kind.
And here’s the microwave. When you buy breakfast or lunch. When you get hungry at night and buy something. It’s helpful to have a microwave in the room when you want to eat something hot. Now let’s look at the other side. It has a hook on top. This is quite long.
There is no closet, but there are hooks on the wall for hangers. It can be used quite a lot. There are 3 hangers for pants. There are also 3 hangers for outerwear, 6 in total. There are two pairs of slippers and two disposable slippers. Now let’s take a look at the room.
The room looks like this. The bed will be in a twin room. That helps a lot. Even though the beds are twin, they are almost pressed together, making it look like a large double bed. Having separate beds like this is helpful. There’s no desk here.
Perhaps these small storage areas are provided to make the room more spacious. Let’s look at it from above. There are two power supplies, no USB. There’s a big screen TV, it’s quite big. There are two single beds. And there are two pillows. The one in the back is a pillow with round beads.
This is a cushion that does not contain beads. You can use one as a body pillow or use two to sleep. There are also body pillows like these stretch poles. This is a nightgown. This is a 2-piece nightgown. I think I can probably go to the public bath in this nightgown and slippers.
There is a USB connection port and a power source at the bedside. And this is the light. There’s a small drawer underneath here, so let’s open it. A security box has appeared. It’s large enough to hold your wallet, small items, and valuables. The bed next door is basically the same.
There is no security box underneath. This also includes power, USB, and light adjustment. You can also adjust the light switch in your room here. I have a clock, it looks like this. This watch is a bit elaborate. A clock made of wood.
As expected, I can feel that there is a lot of attention paid to that aspect. I think this hotel is particular about wood. And here we have a chair typical of Hida. Can you see that the seat surface here is slightly concave? It’s slightly concave in the shape of your butt.
This is how a craftsman cuts it using a special plane. Also, for this backrest, you insert the holes like this. Not many hotels have chairs of this quality, but this hotel is amazing. After all, Hida is the city of furniture.
You can feel the attention to detail that goes into each chair like this. The seat is easy to understand when you look at it like this. It’s been cut down a lot. I think it’s easy to sit on. The coffee table also has a stylish feel and is made of the same wood.
The table has three legs instead of four. Still, it’s very stable. There is one of each chair. That’s amazing. This is a chair where you can relax. There is an air purifier in the back. There’s a pretty big window. Look here.
I think hotel windows are usually quite large, even from the top to about waist height. This hotel has glass windows that go up to your feet. It has a large window that goes up to about the shin area. Let’s open it up a bit.
This is also not a curtain, but a screen curtain like a blind. Let’s take a look below to see what you can see from here. The other side is Takayama Station. Takayama Station, where I just got off. And I can see the lines. This is the rotary in front of the station.
You can see the mountains of Hida like this. The weather is great today, so I can see the mountains clearly. I think it would be nice to relax in your room while looking at these views. Lamps like this are also stylish. It is a round lamp made of Japanese paper.
This is a screen curtain, but there is also another blackout curtain. I’ll try lowering it a little. If you pull everything down like this, it will be a thick cloth curtain that will block out the light. There is a stylish pot. This has a narrow nozzle, making it easy to brew coffee.
Comes with a BALMUDA hot water pot. What’s underneath is a door. The refrigerator is in front of you. Let’s open it. There is a small refrigerator in the hotel. It’s so beautiful. This is a clean refrigerator. There’s a mug in here. There are hot drinks available for coffee and tea.
Contains two spoons and two glass cups. Usually, coffee, tea, creamer, etc. are stored here. At this hotel, you can bring only what you need from the lobby. The room looks like this. Now let’s take a look at the bathroom. This is the bathroom. As soon as you enter, there is a large mirror.
The mirror here is large, so it doesn’t feel small at all. First is the wash basin. There is a large wash basin. The sink is quite wide and deep, so you can probably wash your glasses here. There are also two cups here, plastic cups so they don’t break. Comes with two toothbrushes.
This is an amenity that originally came with the room. This is a hair dryer, and it comes with a dryer stand. This is a KOIZUMI hair dryer. The toilet is a TOTO washlet. It’s helpful that there is a washlet. There are also two bath towels on the top shelf.
Two hand towels are also provided. There are no towels in the public bath, so I was told to bring my own. The bathtub looks like this. It’s quite spacious. It’s also deep, so you can take your time soaking in it.
However, there is a large public bath, so I think I will use that after all. I think I’ll only use it for the shower. From the left, body soap, shampoo, and conditioner are prepared in bottles like this. The bathtub also has a handle so you can bathe safely.
This is what the shower looks like. This shower head may not seem to move, but this is how the head moves. This is useful. The bathroom looks like this. Measure your internet speed. start. Download speed will be 30.4Mbps. Upload speed is 8.72Mbps. It’s fast enough for normal use.
I’m planning to stay here for 3 nights and I hope to enjoy it. That’s all from this room. I came to the 9th floor. There is a footbath and private bath on this floor. This is a footbath. It’s quite spacious, so even 5 people can comfortably fit inside.
If your feet get tired from sightseeing, you can take a relaxing footbath here. Beyond this passage is a private bath for a fee. You can choose from three types of private baths. Recommended for those who want to enjoy hot springs in a private space. This is a large rest area-like space.
This space also displays the crafts of Hida Takayama craftsmen. We can go out from here, so let’s take a look. This way you can go outside. You can see Takayama Station from this side. The weather is nice today, so I can see the mountains of Hida clearly.
Each floor has one piece of art on display. Yamanaka Washi works are displayed on this floor. This is displayed on the 8th floor where we are staying. There is also a photo of the craftsman in action. Hida woodworking is displayed on this floor.
Works from Oak Village, famous for its furniture, are displayed along with photos of the craftsmen. On this floor, there is a work made from Hida cowhide, which is made from the skin of Japanese black cattle. On this floor are works by Hida Sashiko, who sew geometric patterns onto fabric using thread.
This is a lacquered work by Hida Shunkei that was also on display in the lounge on the first floor. This floor also displays Shibugusa-yaki ceramics. There are many different types of craftsmen in this area. On the second floor of the hotel, there is a large public bath with rotating men’s and women’s baths.
The public bath was quite large, and there was also a bath that looked out onto the garden, making it a very relaxing hot spring. Wood is used abundantly in the passageway and relaxation space immediately after exiting the bath. You can feel the atmosphere of Hida Takayama everywhere in the hotel.
I was getting hungry, so I went to Marushin Shokudo, which is a 5-minute walk from the hotel. This restaurant is a set meal restaurant in town. On this day, both of us ordered beef tendon rice curry and minced meat cutlet separately.
The minced meat from this store is very delicious, so I recommend it. Today in the morning, we will be taking a bus tour departing from the Nohi Bus Center in front of the station, covering the Shinhotaka Ropeway and Kamikochi in one day.
The bus departs from the bus center in front of Takayama Station at 8:20. [Explanation by bus guide] Takayama Bus Center is 573m above sea level. [Explanation by the bus guide] Kamikochi is 1,500m high, and the highest point you can climb by ropeway is 2,156m.
[Explanation by the bus guide] There will be a lot of elevation change today, so you might get sleepy on the way. [Explanation by bus guide] There are many tomato juices made locally.
[Explanation by the bus guide] Once you drink Hida’s tomato juice, it’s so delicious that you won’t be able to drink anything else. [Explanation by bus guide] Please try it if you like. At 9:58, the bus arrived at the Shinhotaka Ropeway parking lot. The bus guide led us straight to the ropeway station.
After climbing the gentle slope and stairs, you will see the ropeway. It is said that there is a line for about an hour to ride this ropeway during the Obon holidays, but participants of this bus tour will have priority access to the ride.
If you come during the autumn leaves season, you are sure to see beautiful scenery. 10:27am. We arrived at the summit observation deck at an altitude of 2,156m. Panoramic views can be seen from this observatory. This is a guidebook for foreign tourists visiting Japan.
It seems that the book is listed as 2 stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japan. It is true that this view cannot be seen anywhere else. This is the Corridor of Spears in the forest at the top, a short walk from the observation deck. You can see Mt. Yarigatake clearly from here.
After taking your time and enjoying the beautiful scenery, take the ropeway you rode down to the bottom. We were able to enjoy wonderful views of the mountains on the way there and back. I came to the footbath area. There is quite a large space where you can soak your feet.
This is the spring quality, simple sulfur hot spring. That’s why it smells like sulfur. The closer we got to the area where the hot springs came out, the stronger the sulfur smell became. It really smells like sulfur. It’s hot around here.
It says that there is a risk of low-temperature burns if you use it for a long time. Please be careful. We will have lunch at the Alps Kaido Hirayu Bus Terminal. The menu is Hida pork miso stew hotpot and wild vegetable soba set meal.
The miso soaked through the very tender pork and it was very delicious. This is the Hirayu bus stop. There was a footbath at the ropeway departure point, and there is also a footbath here. The foot bath here is a hot spring that has a slightly rusty, iron-like feel.
The quality of the spring may be different from before. After this, I will go to Kamikochi, so I will rest my legs here for a while. We boarded the bus again and headed to our next destination, Kamikochi.
Many people get off at the Taishoike bus stop and head to the Kamikochi bus stop, which is 3.9km away. If you are not confident in walking, you can get off at the bus stop near Kamikochi or Kamikochi and take a walk around the area.
For now, I would like to walk from Taisho Pond. I have now arrived at the Taishoike bus stop. From now on, we will take a walk towards the Kamikochi bus stop. There is really no wind today, so the mountains are reflected beautifully in the pond.
It seems like this only happens when the weather is nice and there is no wind. Sometimes there were bear sighting information signs or bear bells. Bears seem to be around, so if you see one, don’t approach it. This is Tashiro Pond.
Beautiful underground water from Mt. Rokuhyaku and Mt. Kasumizawa collects as a side road, flowing gently and enhancing the surrounding scenery. This is Azusa River. The water source is Mt. Yarigatake in the Northern Alps, so the water is very clean.
The Hotaka Mountain Range seen from this river was a wonderful view, and many people were taking pictures. On the riverside path I’m currently walking, the sound of the river flowing is very soothing, and the mountain scenery is spectacular.
I was walking in midsummer, and there was a cool breeze blowing so I could walk comfortably. I was walking while looking at the white birch trees and the beautiful river, so before I knew it, I had made quite a bit of progress. This is Kappa Bridge.
Many people are now taking photos at Kappa Bridge. The thing you can see right in the middle is some snow left. Downstream of this stream is Mt. Yakedake. I walked from the other side, and Mt. Yakedake looks beautiful. The river water is also really beautiful. I’ll now head back to the bus.
There are restrooms near Kappa Bridge in Kamikochi, but they require a tipping system, so be sure to have some 100 yen coins ready. Near the bus stop, there is a faucet on a chunk of rock that says “drinking water”. This water is a natural mineral water and was extremely delicious.
Please try drinking it when you go to Kamikochi. I just arrived at the bus stop and there was a huge line. I think it’s best to keep in mind that if you come by yourself, there will be a bit of a line like this. It’s 3:40 p.m.
[Bus guide’s explanation] Welcome everyone, and thank you for your hard work. According to our bus guide, clouds always cover the mountains in the afternoon during the summer season. It seemed like it was a rare day with no cloudy weather at all, so I’m glad I participated.
On the way back, the bus guide told us a lot of interesting information about Kamikochi. For example, the autumn leaves in Kamikochi have no red, and are a very rare golden yellow. Next time, I would like to come during the autumn foliage season.
The bus returns to its original departure point, the bus center in front of Takayama Station, with a side view of Taisho Pond and Mt. Yakedake. As we approached Takayama Station, he also gave us tourist information around Takayama.
For someone like me who was visiting Takayama for the first time, it was a very helpful tour in every way. It’s 17:02. The bus has just arrived and the tour is over. It was a highly satisfying tour. I was also able to ride the Shinhotaka Ropeway.
The weather was good, so we could see the mountains clearly. After eating, I was able to go to Kamikochi. I think this is a highly recommended tour. This concludes today’s tour. Continuing from yesterday, we went to Marushin Shokudo for dinner.
Today, I ordered the minced croquette set meal, the special set meal, and the beef tendon stew as an item. good morning. Today at Nohi Bus Center, I bought a limestone cave set ticket that includes a bus ticket and limestone cave admission ticket. With this ticket, you can head to Hida Great Limestone Cave.
We have now arrived at the bus stop at the entrance to the limestone cave. There is a free shuttle bus from here to the limestone cave, so we will take it. They took me to the limestone cave. Arrived quickly. This place is written as “Lover’s Sanctuary”.
There are votive tablets and bells like this. I’m not sure what it has to do with limestone caves. Now I would like to enjoy the limestone cave. We will enter the limestone cave. It’s like 12 degrees inside, so cold.
Inside the limestone cave, you can hear the sounds of water falling and flowing, giving you the feeling of being on an adventure in a cave. Although it is dark overall, there are large limestone caves that are worth seeing here and there.
The unusually shaped limestone cave is illuminated, making it very easy to see. However, there are many stairs, so please be careful if you have mobility problems. This is a storage area for local sake from Hida Takayama. Since the temperature is constant throughout the year, it can be used for such purposes.
I just came out of the limestone cave. It took about 30 minutes to walk to exit 3. The distance is not that great even if you walk, but there are quite a few stairs, so I think it would be a good idea to go if you have some physical strength.
It’s a really cool facility in the summer. After this, we eat rice balls and relax until the next bus time. I got on the bus earlier, got off at Hirayu Campsite Otakiguchi-mae, and started walking. It looks like you can go to Otaki in 800m, so I’m heading there.
There is a river flowing next to it. We have now arrived at Hirayu Otaki. It looks like I can come this far. It’s about 100m to the waterfall. It seems like I can’t go any further. It’s very empty and feels great. There are rivers flowing nearby. There are really no tourists.
I think most of you probably go to Kamikochi or Shinhotaka Ropeway. There aren’t many tourists, really. But it’s very cool. I’m glad the weather was nice. It’s now 1:30 p.m. It takes about 30 to 40 minutes to walk from Hirayu Otaki to Alps Kaido Hirayu Bus Terminal.
It’s a downhill route, so it’s not that hard. There are various options such as the ropeway and buses that go to Takayama Station. There’s a footbath, you can eat, there’s a toilet, and you can buy souvenirs, so I think it’s a good place to start.
I’ll take a short break here, take a footbath, and then head back to Takayama Station and the hotel. It’s 14:14. I came here from Hirayu Otaki to Hirayu Onsen Bus Terminal. It took about 40 minutes from Hirayu Otaki. Now that we can descend from the waterfall, we will return to Takayama Station.
We bought some soft-serve ice cream inside and took a footbath together until the bus left. Today we chose a cool sightseeing spot: a limestone cave and a waterfall. At first, I was thinking of going to Shirakawago, but it’s really hot, so I’d like to go again in a different season.
I’ll get on the bus and go home in a little while. Excuse me. The bus bound for Takayama Station has just arrived, so I’ll take it back to the hotel. For our last dinner in Takayama, we went to Maruake for the second time.
I ordered 3 to 4 servings of Hida beef mixed yakiniku. 2 pieces of A5 Hida beef nigiri, and 2 rice. This meat sushi was really delicious, the fat of the meat melted in your mouth, it was soft and delicious.
There was also enough meat for 3 to 4 people, so I was able to eat my fill of delicious Hida beef. On the way back, I went to an old town preservation area. Here you can see the old townscape, including mansions built from the late Edo period to the Meiji period.
Lastly, here are my impressions after staying at this hotel for 3 nights. This room also came with a washer/dryer and detergent, so I was able to wash my clothes anytime and for free, which was really helpful. The hot spring in the public bath on the second floor was also quite authentic.
I used it both morning and night, and it was spacious inside so I felt comfortable taking a bath every time. It was also an opportunity to see up close the crafts made by Takayama craftsmen. As for transportation, there is a short distance from the nearby Nohi Bus Center to Shinhotaka Ropeway and Kamikochi.
Hida Great Limestone Cave, Hirayu Otaki. You can also easily go to Shirakawa-go, a World Heritage Site, by bus, which I gave up on going this time due to the heat. There are also express buses, so it is very convenient for those who come to Takayama by bus.
As for food, Maruake serves delicious Hida beef yakiniku. There is also Marushin Shokudo, where you can eat delicious minced meat cutlet. Recommended for those who want to enjoy Hida beef. This time I came in summer, so next time I’ll visit Kamikochi, Shinhotaka Ropeway, Shirakawa-go, etc. during the autumn foliage season.
I would definitely use this hotel again when going sightseeing. So that’s it for this hotel. Afterwards, head to your next destination, Chubu Centrair International Airport. Tsugi-Tsugi’s journey continues. If you are interested, please check out this channel from time to time. If you found this video helpful, please hit the like button.
