世界一物価の安い国で1万円使ったらお金持ちすぎた!

WORLD’S MOST AFFORDABLE COUNTRY VIETNAM Hey there, I’m Yuka Tada! I’ve arrived in Vietnam! Yeah I’m in Vietnam! Yes, here in Vietnam I want to try living in Vietnam with only $70 starting today. I heard Vietnam is super affordable It’s a wallet-friendly country

I want to show you how much fun you can have with just $70 Isn’t the number of bikes here crazy? ※ Vietnam is one of the top motorbike countries in the world I’m going to speak a bit louder than usual Man, I’m so hungry it’s insane

I’m starving and want to get some food But I haven’t exchanged my money yet I’m going to exchange money and then grab something to eat So, off to exchange money Let’s go! Socialist Republic of Vietnam ・ Capital: Hanoi ・ Population: 99.36 million Not sure where the currency exchange is, I’ll Google it

Will it show up? This one? This looks right, 4 minutes on foot That way then that way Wow, stuff you can’t find in Japanese supermarkets Feels like I’m on a stroll show Udon by Marugame ※Lots of Japanese chain stores, feels familiar There’s even CoCo Ichibanya, it’s so Japan

Vietnam has dry and rainy seasons I’m in Ho Chi Minh now, it’s December I think from November to March it’s dry season, probably ※Just talking while Googling Yeah, it’s super sunny because it’s dry season I tend to bring rain with me I chose to come here because it’s dry season

But I’m considering going to a place where it’s rainy season now Debating whether to go Oh, look, isn’t it amazing they’re selling bananas? ※Donkey Kong would love to live in this country, ranking number one Arrived at the currency exchange I’ll line up and do my best to exchange money

I want to exchange 10,000 yen While taking a thumbnail picture with 10,000 yen, a vendor approached He was like “give me” and almost took my money… I was about to be pulled away I was like, OMG and almost gave him the money ※I’m the type who’d be charmed easily

I feel like I’m getting a lot of attention, scary I’ve exchanged the money Ta-da! This is quite complicated 500,000 dong? This is 500,000 dong I have three of these Wonder how much this is? If I calculated correctly, it’s like dividing by 2 and removing two zeros, so This might be about $70?

It’s confusing, but probably About $70 Hello Ah, shoot, got approached by a salesperson… Kind of awkward, better run away Let’s escape! ※Being recommended a very convenient-looking fan Don Don don Don don dondon(?) First, I think I’ll get something to eat I’ll try going to Ben Thanh Market over there Look, GUCCI・CHANEL・DIOR (fakes) Cute

This one! I’ll choose this Eh, does it look good on me? OK, very nice. ※Praised without even looking How much is this? 300,000VND How much is 300,000 dong? 300,000 dong… $10? ※Fake sunglasses for about $10 I read that if you don’t haggle, you’ll definitely lose out

So I’m going to try my best to haggle Look at this This is so Vietnam, so cute Is it cute? Wow, these shoes are adorable Ah, I’m getting tempted to buy them ※The market is filled with endless fakes m…mumu (laughs) I saw it on the net, but

I was surprised to see so many fakes ※Recommended for those who want to pick up girls with fake brand outfits ※Spotted something delicious-looking at a store outside the market Ba… Banh Uot…? I’ll try saying Banh Uot Excuse me What should I do, excuse me Help… What should I do… Sorry (in Japanese)

※Pointing to order 54,000VND Which is 54,000? I can’t tell which one This one? (the food) Yeah This one? (the money) NO ※The type of shop that just takes the money Thank you Is this it? This one? Yeah Eh, is that right…? I paid 50,000… how much did I give?

※Not quite sure what happened I don’t know, I just let it happen… I don’t even know if I got ripped off What should I do… Oh well, as long as it’s delicious, it’s fine Wonder how much the purple one is? I’ll put this away just to be safe (right decision)

Doesn’t this look super delicious? This seems like a kind of spring roll, maybe? ※There are no utensils provided I wonder how everyone eats this Eh…with hands maybe…? What’s this? Ah, isn’t this a napkin? I’ll wipe with this and eat with my hands So, no chopsticks in Vietnam? Do they not use chopsticks?

Excuse me Do you have chopsticks? Chopsticks? I got through, thank goodness Let’s eat Delicious!! It tastes like something you’d find in Japan With a cilantro-like flavor The shrimp is super big and tasty And it seems healthy too I might really like Vietnamese food

But this is just my first meal, so not sure yet So, I haven’t decided on a hotel for today yet I was thinking of just finding a hotel when I arrive For now, I want to look for a foot massage place ※Prioritizing a massage over today’s accommodation

I thought I got ripped off earlier So, I just calculated my money And it turns out I wasn’t ripped off at all Initially, I received 1,680,000 dong And I had 1,632,000 dong left So, 48,000 dong was correctly deducted Quite cheap, these four items cost me $2 Maybe it’s a bit cheaper than Japan.

The market here is amazing, full of food stalls. I found some drinks, so I’m gonna grab some. ※Encountered a man holding the menu upside down. Mango, OK? ※Successfully communicated in Vietnamese and Japanese. I just got some orange juice. I haven’t paid for this yet, right?

They handed it to me, but I hope it’s okay. I’m not sure what’s happening, but… They told me to sit down, so I did. I was also offered some food, so I decided to try it. I chose this one. GRILLED MEAT It’s like 100% juice with pulp in it.

What do you call it… pulp? There’s pulp in it. Super yummy. This cost 20,000 Dong, so… Is that like $0.69? Isn’t it incredible? Just $0.69 for this? But it’s a $70 challenge, and I haven’t even spent $2.76 yet. Have I even spent $2.76? Wow, I hope it’s okay…

I wonder if I can really spend the whole $70… You know, this happened earlier too, I just asked for one, And they said they’d also bring Pho, Can I really eat all this? Let’s eat! Huge! It’s so tasty! It’s got a sweet, teriyaki-like flavor, delicious! It’s only my second time eating in Vietnam,

But both times, the flavors were just my type. I might really like Vietnamese cuisine. Do you mind if I just eat without worrying about the camera? It’s a bit tough, But not so much that I can’t bite through it, just perfect. I’d love to have this in Japan too. Look, look, look,

Here comes the Pho! Wait, it’s super hot. Is Pho supposed to be noodles? I guess. Vietnam is famous for Pho, And speaking of Pho, That means me, right(?) Let’s dig in. But it’s definitely hot. Delicious! It’s like tender noodles, Just as I imagined. This was 60,000 dong, Eating and drinking so much,

And it didn’t even cost $6.90, unbelievable! Nope, no response, Cute! ※Found a massage place near the market In Vietnam, there’s a lot of on-the-go sales. Usually, you’re approached for food or massage services, Sort of like being pitched to or caught by a salesperson. Massage pitches are pretty rare, right?

About $5.52 for 40 minutes, It cost 170,000 dong. Hey, wait a minute, where are you filming? Ashira meramera me If I get slimmer legs, I’ll show them off. Vietnamese massages are so new to me, kind of scary. What should I do? This is so weird. Rub rub rub

If it’s just like a rub-rub-rub thing. Got some water. Look, it’s Mount Fuji! Maybe they know I’m from Shizuoka? To come this far and be recognized? That’s nice. They’re looking at my face and talking, Maybe saying I’m cute? Probably. ※That was actually the case I’ll change my YouTube name to ‘Beautiful Girl’.

It’s different from Japanese foot massages, Not about pressing points but rubbing, Rubbing quite firmly… I really need to decide on a hotel now, I’ll look for one while getting this massage. What should I use to search? Maybe just Google it? This area seems nice. Will anything pop up for ‘Hotel nearby’?

Vietnam’s prices are really low, If you’re looking for cheapness, You could probably find something for about $6.90, right? But honestly, a hotel for $6.90 sounds scary. It’s worth going to a decent hotel, isn’t it? How much is this one? $110, wow, that’s expensive, Probably a nice place.

The nice places cost about the same as in Japan, you know. ※Failed at hotel hunting because I totally fell asleep during the massage Fell asleep during the massage, I looked at a few places, but I’m thinking maybe this one, I found some super cheap hotels, Kind of like apartment-style places,

The pictures are really basic, I mean, they’re a bit run-down, But really, it’s just a place to crash, Just the bare minimum for staying over, That was like 70,000 dong, So, around $2.76 in Japanese currency, You can stay a night for about $2.76, But honestly, that’s a bit…

And probably it’s not even available, So I’ll go for something a bit nicer, I found another one that’s nice and cheap, This one here, It’s only $9.66 and even has a pool, But it’s a bit far from here, So I’ll go with the other one for $10.35, That’s closer to this area.

I think I’ll go for the hotel that’s closer to here. The hotel room looks like this, It’s a bit messy, but this room doesn’t have any windows. Maybe that’s why it’s cheap. But the room is really clean and simple, Totally fine for one person. The bathroom looks like this,

Please ignore the shampoo bottles and stuff. Here’s the water area. Since it’s night, I’m heading out to my first night market. I’ve arrived at the night market, I’m gonna grab some food right away. ※Lots of exotic dishes here. Whoa, what’s this!? Crazy, I’ve never seen these dishes before.

I want some meat, craving meat. Maybe shrimp(?) Meat. One? Aye. Beer? I don’t understand at all. I don’t understand, but OK! Thank you. It’s crazy how much they push for sales here. I just went with it and ordered something. I have no idea how many dishes I ordered…

I’ve always wanted to try this super local vibe, sitting outside and eating, so I chose this place. Is this Heineken? It kind of tastes like cider. Let’s eat. Cheers to the departed. Ah, delicious. It’s so refreshing and easy to drink. This is good. ※A lot of dishes have arrived. Hot!

Vietnam is famous for its banh mi, I haven’t tried it yet, but maybe that’s why there’s so much bread sold here? I feel like there’s a lot of bread. Eh, this is so delicious. What would you call this taste? It’s like a really tasty version of garlic shrimp. Delicious ^^

Hey, scary, can you eat the eyeballs? I’m really bad at peeling stuff. Everyone sounds like they’re arguing. I have no idea what they’re saying. People say Chinese sounds angry because it’s fast, but it’s probably like that. Super delicious!! The seasoning is genius. This is insanely good.

It’s a bit sour, salty, and spicy – the sauce is amazing. ※It’s so delicious it’s dream-worthy. Seriously, so delicious. I have to go to a Vietnamese restaurant when I get back home. It’s incredibly tasty. Some weird shellfish just arrived. I’m getting frustrated. What is this even?

I mean, I ordered two recommended dishes and they’re almost the same. Give me something different! ※Trying to eat it whole. No way, I can’t eat this. It’s just regular tasty turban shell. It’s like a Vietnamese flavored turban shell. Delicious. Drinking makes me want to eat a lot,

And I’ve ordered quite a bit without checking the prices. I’m scared to see how much it costs. But today, I think I’ve spent only about $27, including the hotel. So, I need to spend about $7 to $14 more here, or else I won’t hit the $70 mark. Maybe I should spend more.

The bread is really good. I’m so full now. But when I paid the bill just now, they said it was 500,000 dong. That’s like $20, right? Isn’t that expensive? $20. The menu had prices like 70,000 dong, 80,000 dong, so I guess I was overcharged. I ordered about six dishes and drinks,

※It’s entirely my fault for not checking the menu prices. Wait, I’m not sure. Was I overcharged? But $20 is expensive, even in Japan. Well, it’s okay. I’ve already spent $20. So I probably have only about $20 left. I’ll try to be a bit more frugal now. It’s so hot, unbelievable.

Ho Chi Minh is just too hot. I want to buy hats or hair accessories, but there are only bags and weird clothes shops around. I’ll look around a bit more. ※Lots of quirky clothes. All I could find were these weird stores selling backpacks and stuff. Guess I’ll look around a bit more.

※Lots of clothes with strong styles Is this like 10 dong or something? No way it’s just 10 dong. Vietnamese people often abbreviate when they talk about money, like saying ‘seventeen’ or ‘fifteen’. They shorten it so much, it’s confusing. Like, something they say is ’15’ could be 15,000 dong.

Or it might be 150,000 dong, so it’s super hard to guess. When they say ’15’, for this item, I’m like, is it $5? Or $55? I have to figure it out myself, which makes money stuff really tricky. Super hard to deal with money. ※There are endless fakes at the night market.

There are things with CHANEL, FENDI written on them. What do you think? Does it suit me? I want to buy this, but it’d be crazy if I did, right? Look, this CHANEL has butterflies and stuff on it. Is it okay to have all these decorations?

There’s a mix of different brands like GUCCI and VUITTON. All sorts of brands are jumbled together. But I guess Vietnam does Christmas properly. ※Seems like a country where Santa would wear short sleeves. Whether it’s green or red lights, bikes just keep coming.

It seems like as long as you don’t collide, it’s all good. So I just walk at my own pace, and as long as I don’t change speed, they probably won’t hit me. ※I just walk thinking it’s a lucky day if I don’t get into an accident.

The taxi driver earlier said he’s been driving for 7 years, driving like 100 kilometers every day, and he’s never had an accident (miracle). Isn’t it amazing to have no accidents? How is that even possible? Found a cool-looking supermarket, so I’m gonna check it out. Wonder if strawberries are cheaper here or in Japan.

But wow, they’re like $12? Almost $14. Oh, look at all these grapes, crazy! These cherries look so tasty. These mangoes are super hard. Is that okay? Can we even eat them? I mean, we’re not staying long, so I doubt they’ll ripen in time. ※Currently on a hunt for unusual stuff at convenience stores

※There are lots of products you don’t find in Japan Just went shopping at a convenience store earlier. There was this place called ‘Cheers’, and I bought some weird stuff there. What even is this? ※Bought it because the package was cute Got stuff like this. Maybe I’ll give it a try.

Oh, it’s kind of thick and yogurt-like. Let’s taste it. Whoa, it’s sweet! Vietnamese drinks. Feels like there’s a ton of sugar in this. So, I bought this coconut. Isn’t it cool? They sell whole coconuts. I think you’re supposed to drink it with a straw, but

I didn’t get a straw, so not sure if I can drink it… If I can, I’ll drink it later. What is this, I wonder? Some kind of meat, not really sure. Looks like a mini version of pig’s feet. But the packaging looks super yummy. It’s red, so looks spicy, but probably isn’t.

I don’t know, will try it later as a midnight snack before bed. Don’t really know what to expect. And last but not least, ta-da! ※Representing Japanese snacks Chose Choco Pies because they looked too delicious. Should taste the same as in Japan, I guess. Looks sweet, but Wait, is this the expiration date?

October 23, 2022? If it is, then it’s expired… All this cost me 75,000 dong, which is like $3 with the current exchange rate. Isn’t that super cheap for these four items? Planning to have these for tonight’s snack. This hotel has a pool, free to use, so I’m thinking of jumping in tomorrow morning.

Alright, that’s it for today. I’m off to bed. Goodnight! Tried spending $70 in the world’s cheapest country. So, this place even has a pool, and it’s deep too! Eek! Isn’t the view just amazing? ※You can see the whole cityscape of Ho Chi Minh. So much fun!

It gets deeper as you go this way. Looks like it’s about 140 cm deep, and I’m 160 cm, so only about 20 cm of me sticks out. No jumping allowed. Over there, it’s kind of like a bar, and at night, you can freely drink alcohol. So, that’s it.

I tried living in Vietnam with only $70 How was it? As expected, being the world’s cheapest country, the prices were really low, but since the language didn’t always translate, I got ripped off, and calculating money was tricky. There were various inconveniences, but I had a lot of fun experiencing different things.

The seasoning of the food was so delicious, it made me want to go eat Vietnamese food when I get back to Japan. So, if you found this overseas series interesting, Preview of the next episode. Maybe subscribe to the channel?
