[SUB] 교토 하루 여행 코스🌿|교토에서 센스있는 기념품 추천 | 니시키 시장 먹거리, 쇼에이도 인센스
Hello guys, today I came to Kyoto. Originally I had a film shooting schedule but it’s cancelled because of the raining news. However, when I came out, the weather was very nice! So I’m going to look around Kyoto today. Mint fans! Follow me! I’m here at Nishiki Market, the perfect place to explore even on a rainy day! [Nishiki Market]
With over 400 years of history, this traditional
market is a must-visit in Kyoto, packed with fresh This market is called the kitchen of Kyoto and it’s very lively. During Edo time, it used to be a fish market! The reason this market was originally built here is because of the abundant, clean groundwater that runs beneath it. The groundwater here is ice cold and really high quality, right?! Thanks to the clear, high-quality groundwater, people were able to keep fish and other ingredients fresh even back in the days before refrigerators. Isn’t this amazing? Wow, this must be a model, right?! They’re selling everything from sushi to meat. I have one stomach and honestly don’t know what to try first…! This area is called Yatai Mura Nishiki, where you can enjoy food and drinks at little food stalls just like a street market. It really feels like a tourist spot,
and I see so many international visitors here! Seeing all these stalls lined up like this kind of reminds me of Singapore’s famous Satay Street. Seeing all these stalls lined up like this kind of reminds me of Singapore’s famous Satay Street. Wow, I was so curious about this one that I had to try it! Looks like they serve it fresh as soon as it’s made. – Which menu is the most popular? / – Tempura! – Okay then, one tempura please! I ordered their most popular tempura, and they cook it right away as soon as you order. Freshly fried tempura, let’s try it! Thank you~ / Is this real crab? / Yes haha A foreign customer just asked “Is this real crab?” and I realized since Korea and Japan both have imitation crab sticks. A foreign customer just asked “Is this real crab?” and I realized since Korea and Japan both have imitation crab sticks. (Up until now, Mina didn’t even know… )
It’s actually smart to check first for foreigners Let me try it! Real~ crab! First , it’s really heavy..! But of course, it should be with this size! So good!! But wait… what if it isn’t real crab? It’s so thick so eating it makes me satisfied Isn’t this so thick?! When I arrive at hotel,
I will keep thinking about it haha Pure happiness for 500 yen! Last bite! It was so good, almost like they planned it that way… (?) But something feels off… maybe I should ask. (Asking the staff if it’s real…) Okay, I have to admit, I was wrong. It tasted like real crab at first So I asked the staff.. It was Kani kamaboko (short for kani-kamaboko = imitation crab stick). So earlier when I told the other foreign customer it was real,
I was totally mistaken… I’m so sorry I believed it and bought it too… but it was actually really tasty! Oh, you know what? It’s just like masal-jeon in Korea, the crab stick pancake! I feel like I should try something else now. This time, I actually did some research by watching lots of YouTube videos! I heard there’s a chicken specialty shop that sells chicken chashu skewers, so let’s check it out! Guys, I found it, this is Torisei! At Nishiki Market, eating while walking isn’t allowed, So I’ll eat right here next to the shop. Look at this, isn’t it huge?! It looks so good, but what does it taste like? Mmm, the sauce is really rich. On a hot and tiring day, this kind of flavor is just perfect The inside isn’t dry at all, which I love! With something this big, it could easily turn out dry or uneven, but they really nailed it. With something this big, it could easily turn out dry or uneven, but they really nailed it. I’m so satisfied! When I came to Nishiki Market before, the food that surprised me the most was tako tamago! It’s a skewer made with a baby octopus stuffed with a boiled quail egg in its head, simmered in soy sauce. I heard there’s an original shop, so today I’ll try it there. One bite~ Wow, do you see this? The idea is brilliant, and it would go perfectly with a drink too. They also sell it without the skewer,
so if you’re curious, you can take it to go. Mmm~ it’s a real energy boost. That was delicious! And if you keep walking, a shrine suddenly appears! This is Nishiki Tenmangu, a place popular with students and also known for bringing success in business. Let’s go inside and pray.
*It enshrines Sugawara no Michizane,
who is well known as the god of learning. Kyoto has so many amazing restaurants, but there is this one! There is also this unique custom called “Ichigen-san Okotowari.” It means that first-time customers without an introduction are not allowed in. You can only go if you’re introduced by a regular customer or someone the restaurant trusts. When I asked a Kyoto friend for recommendations, My friend said: Actually, this place follows Ichigen-san Okotowari. I’ll call them for you so if you want to go, let me know! There are some restaurants she mentioned like that? So, on the outside it might look exclusive, but really it’s a kind of trust system that protects both the guests and the restaurant. If I get the chance someday, I’d love to try it. Right now, I’m really full… So instead of more food,
let’s go shopping for Kyoto souvenirs (omiyage)! (Omiyage are gifts you bring back for family
and friends after a trip.)
I’m going to see the signature of Kyoto, Omiyage! Curious? Let’s move to the next spot! Jump! Ta-da! Just a 4-minute subway ride away,
I arrived at Marutamachi Station. Here, there are no tourists in sight,
so you can really feel the quiet side of Kyoto. I think this must be it. The famous Kyoto store
with over 300 years of history: Shoyeido. Isn’t the main shop beautiful? At Shoyeido’s main store, there’s a small incense museum where you can experience the culture of fragrance. If you walk a little further upstairs, you’ll find the Kunju-kan, which literally means
“a building where you learn through incense.”
(Kun = fragrance, incense / Ju = to learn / Kan = hall or building) So here, you can really learn a lot about incense. Let’s go inside! **Thanks to the store management’s generosity, we were specially granted filming permission!** Isn’t this fascinating?
This box lets you actually smell the incense inside! You press it like this to sample the fragrance, and after enjoying the exhibition, I moved on to the main hall. Kyoto is a city full of temples and shrines. and here they offer everything from the incense used in temple rituals to products you can use at home for relaxation. and here they offer everything from the incense used in temple rituals to products you can use at home for relaxation. This corner features a truly luxury line of incense
(some items cost as much as 400,000 won! / It’s high-end line) There are so many collections to browse
through that it’s hard to know where to look first. Even though it’s a very traditional shop, the beautiful colors and designs make everything feel approachable, so you don’t have to feel pressured. Even though it’s a very traditional shop, the beautiful colors and designs make everything feel approachable, so you don’t have to feel pressured. I’ve heard that in the Hōrin incense series, the most popular ones are Horikawa and Shirakawa and here they are! Horikawa (Snip, snip) It has a sweet vanilla-like scent. Shirakawa (Snip, snip) It’s similar, but the finish feels much cleaner, almost like the sweetness drifts farther away. ☺ Both are lovely, but my personal favorite is Shirakawa! Oh no… I think I’m falling deep into this! And guess what?
I actually found another scent that suits me even more… This one isn’t sweet at all. It’s a woody fragrance
described as “traditional yet elegant.” I think I need to take this one home with me(?) So here’s what I decided to buy! They’re light, and perfect for gifts. My visit to Shoyeido’s main store was such a fun experience. I fell into the incense world so I ended up buying four boxes of incense, great sizes and prices for souvenirs. And I picked up two just for myself,
so I can’t wait to try them at home! Everyone, Kyoto is actually a basin! Is “basin” the right word in Korean? It’s surrounded by mountains on all sides. So the summers are hot and the winters are cold. That’s why Kyoto’s extreme weather is something even Japanese people all know about! Still, since Kyoto works hard to preserve its history and traditions, there aren’t many tall buildings. So even when it’s hot, it still feels really open and spacious. With the Kamo River and all the beautiful buildings around, Kyoto is wonderful no matter the weather. With the Kamo River and all the beautiful buildings around, Kyoto is wonderful no matter the weather. Mint friends, how did you like this Kyoto holiday? To be honest, I didn’t plan everything in detail, but because Kyoto is full of so many sights and delicious food, I think it turned out to be such a satisfying day. Whenever I film outside of Tokyo, I try to make the most of what I can experience in each place. And whenever I have the chance, I’ll continue sharing those moments with all of you! That’s it for today’s video See you again in the next one!
