But you, Captain, know snow even better than us, the Khinu who’ve lived here for centuries! Ah! Right! So I have to think and figure out the answer myself! Hello! I’m Aya Uchida, the voice of Siku in Goddess Order. 「Siku」
CV. Aya Uchida Q. What kind of character is Siku? The character I voiced, Siku, is a girl from the Khinu tribe who lived in a snowy village in the northern part of the Ascalia continent. Due to Wikhatt’s invasion, she lost her home and family, and almost lost her life as well, but she was saved by Gilbert. Since then, she has admired him calling him “Captain, Captain” and together with him, she is serving as a Snowfield Recon Squad member of the northern front of Kaplan. Q. Did you have any difficulties voicing Siku? The difficult part of voicing Siku was when I first read the script, I imagined she had gone through a lot, losing her family and hometown friends. Although Siku looks cute on her appearance, she’s strong in battles. At first, I acted with the mindset, “I’ll completely overwhelm the opponent!”
“I will definitely win!” But I got feedback that it sounded too scary. I remember being told to leave a bit more of a cute vibe. For Gilbert, her lifesaver and admired figure, she opens her heart a little, so she shows a different side. It wasn’t intentional to express that contrast, but the difference in her attitude toward strangers and toward Gilbert was really cute. I enjoyed performing those parts, and tried to express them attractively. However, when I relaxed even a little, my tone became a bit stronger, especially in battle scenes, it came out too strong, so I remembered the feedback to leave a cuter vibe and performed with that in mind. Q. What do you find cute about Siku? Siku, despite her cute and round appearance, has a fierce personality to the point that Gilbert describes her as a “bloodthirsty snow hare.” I find this aspect very interesting, and there were parts where I really emphasized that “bloodthirsty snow hare” feeling. While coordinating with the production team, we balanced that with her cute side and her light blue color scheme. On the surface, she may seem like a character whose expressions don’t change much, but only with Gilbert does she brighten up, smile shyly, and reveal her softer side. I really love these moments where her snow hare and icy image contrast with her smiles. That kind of contrast is what I find cute from Siku. Also, as the story progresses with players, I hope Siku gradually opens up little by little and that is what I most look forward to for her in the future. Q. What foods do Siku and you like? Siku’s favorite food is salmon marinated in honey. It makes me imagine what it would taste like. Recently I’m into salt koji*. (*Cooked rice and/or soya beans that have been inoculated with a fermentation culture) I enjoy marinating foods like chicken or salmon in salt koji, so I feel I share something in common with Siku. However, Siku’s honey-marinated salmon has a historical significance. It originates from two tribes —one that loved salmon and another that loved honey. It is a special dish with a backstory of “salmon and honey can go well together,” that symbolizes Siku’s hometown. When I cook at home, it’s nothing special about this dish, but personally, when something good happens, I enjoy cooking fish with my favorite salt koji. I like getting sashimi and making rice bowls with not only marinating in salt koji but also sauces made with soy sauce or mirin. Q. What do you enjoy these days? Lately, something I’ve been enjoying, though slightly out of season, is taking care of a swallowtail caterpillar on my lemon tree on the balcony. Normally, they grow in spring, but seeing it grow on a very hot day this summer, every morning to greet it with “hello” and check on it has been my daily routine. Recently, it became a pupa, and I’m watching every day in anticipation of the moment it safely emerges as a butterfly. Among the caterpillars that came in spring, I was able to see only one successfully becoming a butterfly. I would like to see this pupa at home also safely becomes a butterfly. Q. Tell us about the recording session! It was extremely hot on the day of recording, but even so, Siku is a cool-looking girl wearing warm clothes suitable for snowfields. While voicing her skill scenes, imagining snow and ice helped me forget the heat and feel refreshed, which was really nice. In addition to that since it’s a pixel-art game, imagining “Ah, this is how she would move” while recording was very enjoyable. Q. Any final message? Siku will guide you on the Northern Front and will be a very competent ally who knows the situation well. She looks cute on the outside, but she is a really strong character. Take her as your ally and beat all your enemies. The tag-action pixel RPG Goddess Order has been available since September 24. Please enjoy it a lot!
