2005~ I joined JYP in 2005 – Oh~
– Impressive, at such a young age (Joined in 2010)
So when we got in, she was already 5 years in? (Joined in 2010 too)
Right? (Started at JYP as an actor trainee)
At first, surprisingly, I started as an actor trainee So I even took acting lessons Then at some point, I switched to being a singer trainee And started receiving vocal and dance training seriously (By her 5th year as a trainee)
And then it became 2010 In 2010, some major things happened That’s right What happened? NAYEON and JEONGYEON joined the company! (The lucky charms who rolled into JYP in 2010)

And our BamBam joined too What even was 2010? I know, right? How did all that happen? Wow, I’m jealous… What are you jealous of? I actually got rejected from JYP in 2010 (Shocking truth)

JYP was the only company that even came down to Jeju The only agency that actually came to Jeju was JYP If you dig into the archives, you’ll probably find Boo Seungkwan there Though it might’ve been deleted You went to the right place It’s good that you didn’t get in (Meaning: we all ended up where we belonged) So anyway, in 2010 Another great thing happened (Major 2010 milestone)
That’s when our debut project team was formed And that’s the first time I ever really thought “Are we actually getting close to debut?” That was my fifth year as a trainee How old were you when you were in your fifth year as a trainee? (JIHYO was already a 5-year trainee in 8th grade)
– 8th grade. I was in 9th
– Yeah, 8th Sungjin, do you remember your first impression of JIHYO? Yeah, my first impression was… The day I joined the company (Sungjin waiting in the practice room on his first day)
I was waiting in the practice room (Met 8th grade JIHYO after school)
And I saw JIHYO coming in after school “Huh?” “Hmmm…” (The rest is history)

And then the long-awaited year—2015 Ah~ After 10 years, finally (OOH-AHH moment)
We finally made our debut Also during this time We met so many people I’m thankful for (Debut mates)
Like our friends in SEVENTEEN We met as friends and it was such A happy year (Big 2015 moment)
It was the year we won Best New Artist at ‘MAMA’ for the first time Yeah, it was a really glamorous start for us… (Smooth ending)

Q. How did JIHYO, Mingyu, and Seungkwan become friends? Was it 2015 ‘MAMA’? Yeah, I think it was during 2015 ‘MAMA’ BamBam was there too It was right when we debuted (SEVENTEEN’s debut: May 2015)
And JYP aired the SIXTEEN project in May 2015 But SIXTEEN totally stole all the buzz from SEVENTEEN SIXTEEN stole the buzz (Felt a little bad)

– Yeah That day Seungkwan was coming out of a dermatology clinic And there were more friends with us too So we were like, “What should we do?” (They were planning to visit JIHYO’s parents at the campsite)
My mom and dad were at the campsite So we thought, “Wanna go eat some meat?” (They decided to bring Seungkwan from the clinic too)
And we were like, “Seungkwan’s at the dermatologist, should we pick him up?” So we just kinda kidnapped him, and that’s how our first meeting went down Back then, I wasn’t close to noona at all But even her parents And her siblings too (Fun-filled day)
We even played Rummikub Seungkwan, is JIHYO your noona (older sister)? Yes, that’s right (JIHYO born in ’97 / Seungkwan in ’98)
I call JIHYO noona I heard you’re the youngest one here today (Suddenly polite)

In 2016, people were always trying to find JIHYO “Where are you? Come quick, where are you?” (Cut!)
Alright! Moving on! Back in 2016, I crossed off a bucket list item and got my driver’s license Wow~ A driver’s license! (NAYEON)
We did it together!! That’s right Getting that license was such a big wish of mine And I was crazy busy back then too But I still went all the way to Namyangju, like a 4-hour trip (Proud)
That’s how I got it! Namyangju doesn’t take 4 hours though? It doesn’t Takes like 40 minutes, honestly (She meant she had a 4-hour driving lesson in Namyangju) (Why we came to the 20th Anniversary party)
We’re totally picking fights now, huh? I came prepared for this Unnie, don’t clench your fist like that—scary (Pillow punch) (2016 Highlight)
And I ate alone for the first time ever (Congrats on JIHYO’s first solo meal!)

That’s when I first got to know Kim Sejeong I’m curious—how did that happen? When I was in I.O.I, TWICE gave us the rookie award (2016 MAMA)
(TWICE presented rookie award to I.O.I as previous winner) – The previous year’s winner gives it?
– Yeah And I grew up watching SIXTEEN, so I was like “Whoa, it’s TWICE! This is huge!” And they gave us that rookie award That stuck with me, so from then on I thought, “I really wanna become friends with her” After the rookie award, only I felt that closeness Just me, by myself (2018)
Then during Dance The Night Away promos (Gugudan SEMINA)
We were promoting Semina at that time (K-POP jukebox)
“Semina Semina” Wow, that takes me back You really watched everything (TWICE & Gugudan SEMINA shared a green room)
We were actually in the same waiting room then (Mutual friend moment)
We got each other’s number through Chung Ha unnie That’s right, that’s what happened But even now, she’s kind of like that— She’s not someone who goes out much Back then, JIHYO was kind of a lone wolf “Let’s hang out!” “No, we have to meet up!” (Actively showing she wanted to get closer)
“I’m telling you—let’s hang out!” That was really nice, and thanks to that For the first time, I started going out more So she’s basically the only friend I made Outside the company (Thanks to Sejeong, Na-young & JIHYO became friends)
So it’s through her that you met her too? Yeah, that’s right—later on That’s right And our Kim Na-young-nim Is super shy around new people Honestly, I think Out of everyone here, if we’re talking funny— She could easily be the funniest one But she’s really shy so please help her out Thanks to this, I finally came out into the world again after so long And I’m kinda drained now So let’s move on, please! First Tokyo Dome concert Ooh~ (First K-POP girl group to do it)
And we ended up doing a dome tour too Sheesh Right, we were bragging so much back then, like— (It was just too epic not to flex)
TWICE really is amazing And personally, (2019 Highlight)
That was the year we had our first group drive A drive? (Group drive split between JIHYO & JEONGYEON’s cars)
We split into two cars—mine and JEONGYEON’s—with 4 or 5 people each And with our members and some of the company staff too It was a trip— Like a workshop getaway that year You’re really good at remembering this kinda stuff, noona The way you go on these trips with your people You really seem to remember those memories well… Pfft (Thanks for saying that) Let’s just skip things over You always end up talking about drinks… (TWICE’s 8th year)
2022 was such a great year SEVENTEEN, DAY6, And all of us in TWICE renewed our contracts, everyone! That’s seriously amazing What really stuck with me from then Was something Seungkwan said Our two teams debuted together in 2015, almost like classmates We went through so much back then So being able to do this together now—it’s something to be proud of (SEVENTEEN’s contract renewal: 2021)
As far as I remember, we were the first to do it And when the noonas were deep in serious talks I went up to her separately and said, “You absolutely have to keep going” I mean, it’s not like my opinion mattered or anything “But the way you guys are is just beautiful to me” So he’s the secret MVP behind TWICE’s renewal Wait, are you secretly a ONCE? (Loving busybody energy)
I just have this weird need to meddle like that – Thank you

– Really, thank you for doing it Yeah, and around that time, I hit burnout too You suddenly hit burnout? You know how during contract renewals your mind gets all over the place Totally Yeah, I went through that kinda phase too That’s it? – Now…

You were on EXchange? No haha I was a panelist haha Oh thank god… After that ended, I was doing tons of variety shows and that stuff can be draining Like, doing variety always sucks the energy out of you I think you probably get it (Me?)
You’re always on variety shows too (It means you’re working hard)
You gotta force so much energy on variety shows—it’s tough, right? You know what I mean? But then— Wait, that was all fake energy? No, EXchange was real energy… But… Heh… (Real friends, real chaos)
We’re never gonna get through this story Sorry, I’ll stop talking Don’t mind me Just tell your story (Finally gets to the point)
So after COVID hit, we kinda lost touch for a while But then out of nowhere, we reconnected And JIHYO texted, “How’ve you been?” I told her, “Noona, I’m kinda struggling” And she goes, “Come over” (When BamBam was struggling, JIHYO cooked him a homemade meal)
“I’ll cook for you” And I live alone, right? – No parents around either
– That’s actually really touching She said, “Maybe it’s because you haven’t had a home-cooked meal” Then grilled some fish for me Heated up the chicken feet she had in the freezer She shared the ones she was saving for herself You know which ones I’m talking about, right? I gave you those a lot Those were seriously the good stuff So good, right? I save those Only give ’em to people I really care about (Chicken feet full of friendship helped BamBam heal)
She made me soup too, and we talked… And after that day, I honestly felt better Oh wow~ That’s seriously moving Was that the moment you felt like, “I’ve gotta get back up”? Yeah, it really helped That’s what happened with me For me, with JIHYO recently… I haven’t really been seeing people much So I started to feel kind of down about relationships Like I wasn’t being a good friend to the people around me Wondering, “Am I okay like this?” I started getting really anxious So at night, I texted JIHYO and Na-young unnie Saying, “Am I okay like this? Really?” And JIHYO replied, “I don’t think I can answer right now, I’ll text you later” (The next day, JIHYO left her a long message)
Then I fell asleep Next day, I woke up and saw this huge message! Like, “Here’s why I like you…” “If you can’t trust anything else” “Let me be the reason you know someone’s by your side” (She filled the message with kind, thoughtful words)
She said, “Just trust me” And the way she wrote it, so organized, so beautifully put As soon as I read that, I honestly felt so much better too Oh really? She’s a healer! I’m honestly such a lucky person Noona, you really do have great energy Are you crying right now? (Holding it in)
Not yet! I’m okay Alright, now that we’ve all been emotionally touched (It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for)
It’s time for EXPOSURE TIME! Lately, noona’s been taking vocal lessons She’s been going really often lately I think she’s gained a lot of confidence from it recently (Already funny just thinking about it) (Alicia Keys showed up at the last gathering instead of JIHYO)
Then all of a sudden, Alicia Keys showed up “Some people want it all~” “But I don’t~” – She absolutely slayed it

She was feeling her vocals coming up… Her vocal coach was actually there too And she kept saying, “Should I go? Should I?” then suddenly— “Ah, would this work?” and boom—Alicia Keys ♪ If I… Ain’t— But that… (Denial)
That wasn’t me who played that Oh really? Someone who was there… And JIHYO was kind of… (Where you going?)
That was actually “Someone Like You” The Alicia Keys one… That was her pick, for real I thought we were in a European bar or something “Some people…” Caught us off guard, right as she walked in Laid back just a bit like— But she honestly sang it really well Noona, have you ever thought about covering that?
