Hi, I’m Albert. Where are we going to take the bus this episode? We will take a 2-hour bus ride from Beitou through the 7 administrative districts of Taipei. The end point is the bustling MRT City Hall Station and the Super Golden Line in the Xinyi business district. We will also go to scenic spots hidden in the mountains and forests of Xinyi District and overlook the secret corners of Xinyi District . What’s different is that in this episode, I invited a driver friend who runs on this road every day to talk about his daily life and mood. With such wonderful content, let’s take this Chengde Line together . Don’t forget to like and subscribe before the video starts ! OK! Dear friends, we are now at the Da Nan Bus Beitou Station. Did you notice that the scene today is very different? This is the first time I’m opening in a bus! Many friends asked me, hey, you have taken so many buses, do you know any driver friends? The one next to me is a driver friend of mine on the Chengde Line that we are going to take today . Let me say hello to everyone, Ah Xian! Hello everyone, I’m Ah Xian~ Hello Ah Xian! Do you know what the route number of the Chengde Line was called before? Of course, this test can’t stump me! The policy of changing the 266 to a trunk bus was changed to Chengde Trunk in 2018. I have a few questions. I would like to ask Ah Xian , how long does it take to take the Chengde Trunk? Under normal driving conditions, it takes about 3 hours. If there is a traffic jam during peak hours , it will take 4 hours or even longer. Because the Chengde Trunk passes through Beitou, Shilin, Datong, Zhongshan, Songshan, Xinyi, a total of 6 administrative districts! So the route of the Chengde Trunk is quite long. What if there is a traffic jam , for example, what should we do if we need to go to the toilet? In fact, there are many public toilets or shops along the way that we are willing to lend them to us. Sometimes we tell the passengers that the passengers are very tolerant, so ~ it ’s okay. Do you usually feel stressed? There must be pressure because after all, carrying so many passengers , each passenger represents a family. Right, in addition to driving, you can’t go. We don’t ask us not to hit others , nor do we want others to hit us. The last question is, do you have anything to say to the passengers? I think the most important thing is to press the bell when you get off the bus because our driver is not psychic nor is he superman , right! Very good~ Everyone should pay attention to it. No matter what bus you take, you must remember to press the bell if you want to get off. Okay, in this episode, we are going to take the Chengde Line from Xinbeitou to the MRT City Hall Station. Wait, let us trouble Ah Xian to serve you. No problem! Without further ado, let’s go to take the bus, let’s go! Go~ Here I still want to remind all passengers and friends to remember to press the bell when you get off the bus . If the driver needs to go to the toilet, please be more considerate! The starting point for the Chengde Line is the Guizikeng Soil and Water Conservation Park, which is next to the Da Nan Bus Beitou Station. It is also more intimate to take the Chengde Line driven by Ah Xian ! The Chengde Line passes through Beitou Park, Daye Road Chengde Road Section 7, Xiqu Center, Shilin MRT Jiantan Station, Chengde Road Sections 2-4 MRT Zhongshan Station, Nanjing East-West Road Taipei Arena, Taipei Arena, Zhuangjing Road Wuxing Street, Xinyi Business District and finally arrives at the terminal MRT City Hall Station . The full two-section ticket is operated by Danan Bus. Beitou Park is an open-air hot spring park located in Beitou District. The area is surrounded by Zhongshan Road and Guangming Road. It is located next to the Geothermal Valley Landscape Park and is also the first hot spring park in Taiwan. It covers an area of about 3.98 hectares and is managed by Yangmingshan Park Management Office. Beitou Park has an open-air hot spring bath, the intellectual Beitou Hot Spring Museum, and the first green building in Taiwan, Beitou Library, etc. Beitou Park is about a 5-minute walk from the MRT Xinbeitou Station . It is a good choice to spend a day here! The predecessor of Chengde Line is the 266 opened on October 2, 1978. At first, it started from Xinbeitou and only went to Sanzhangli. It was jointly operated by Da Nan Motor and Guanghua Bus until the next year when Guanghua Bus withdrew from operation and Da Nan Motor was the sole operator. In the 1980s, 266 was extended to Zhuangjing Road and Wuxing Street . At the same time, there was a 266 shuttle bus from Shilin to Wuxing Street. With the opening of the Bannan Line of the MRT and the development of the Xinyi Planning Area , it was extended to the MRT in 2000 together with the shuttle bus. Shilin Night Market is located at the Shilin City Hall Station. The Shilin Public Market is a city-designated historic site. Shilin Market opened in 1909. In December 2011, the Shilin Market was renovated and opened the following year. The underground food court plaza extends from Wenlin Road in the east to Jihe Road in the west and from Xiaobei Street and Xiaoxi Street in the north. It is the largest night market in Taipei City and the most visited landmark in Taiwan. The Taipei Performing Arts Center is opposite the MRT Jiantan Station. It was once the site of Shilin Night Market . It was officially opened on July 2, 1933. Three theaters were set up for cultural and artistic performances. Chengde Bridge was named after Chengde Road . It was completed and opened to traffic in 1979. It connects Section 3 and Section 4 of Chengde Road. It is an important bridge for Jiantan, Hougangqian, Shilin and other places to Dalongdong and Yuanshan. Chengde Road connects Shilin, Beitou Daye Road and Dadu Road leading to Tamsui. According to the 1977 “Taipei Street Map”, Section 7 is “Bai Ling Road 5”, Section 6 is “Bai Ling Road 4”, and Section 5 is “Bai Ling Road 3”. Chengde Road There were no sections at first. In August 1991, Chengde Road was divided into sections . Chengde Road in Gangkeng area was designated as Chengde Road Section 4. On April 1, 1992, Bailing 3rd Road, Bailing 4th Road, and Bailing 5th Road were renamed Chengde Road Sections 5 to 7. It remains one of the important north-south arterial roads in Taipei City today. MRT Zhongshan Station is located on Nanjing West Road. It is the intersection station of the MRT Songshan-Xindian Line and the Tamsui-Xinyi Line. The bus network is quite dense. Why is the area around MRT Zhongshan Station mentioned specifically? There is a very prosperous Nanxi business district here. First, there were department stores everywhere. With the opening of the MRT , the Zhongshan Underground Street was established. An underground book street full of bookish atmosphere was built in the Zhongshan-Jazz Square section . It is now operated by Eslite Bookstore. After the official opening of the “Xinxinshan Linear Park” in November 2019, it brought a new look to the Nanxi business district and became a popular spot for taking photos and checking in. Continue driving along Nanjing West Road and Nanjing East Road to the Taipei Arena , which is located at the intersection of Nanjing East Road and Dunhua North Road. In addition to providing a sports competition venue, it also often hosts concerts, award ceremonies and other large-scale cultural and artistic activities. It was officially opened on December 1, 2005 and is one of the landmark venues in Taiwan’s entertainment industry. It also has Taiwan’s first ice rink that meets international standards. If there is a small arena, there is of course a big arena. The Chengde Main Line will also pass by! When you come to Guangfu South Road, the Taipei Arena is not far away from the MRT Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station. It is the only dome-level indoor baseball stadium in Taiwan and can accommodate about 40,000 spectators . It will be officially opened on December 2, 2023. In addition to hosting Chinese Professional Baseball League games and international baseball games, it has also hosted National Day galas and ticketed concerts. Friends who like baseball games, why not buy a ticket to experience it! Sisi South Village is located in Sanzhangli, approximately in the area of Xinyi Road Section 5, Keelung Road Section 2, Songping Road, and Zhuangjing Road. It is one of the military dependents’ villages built by the Nationalist government after it moved to Taiwan . The residents of the village are factory workers of the 44th Arsenal of the Joint Logistics Command. It is located to the south of the 44th Arsenal , hence the name Sisi South Village. It was built in 1948 and is the first military dependents’ village to be preserved. Most of it has been demolished , and some houses have been rebuilt into the Xinyi Citizens’ Hall. There are often markets and art performances. It is still one of the most popular attractions in Xinyi District. With the continuous increase in passenger volume, 266 has always been the most frequent and best-traffic route among all the routes of Da Nan Bus. It passes through 7 administrative districts in Taipei and extends to the MRT Municipal After Fu Station, a round trip without traffic jams takes about 3.5 hours. It takes 4 hours during peak hours. On April 2, 2018, in line with the new generation of trunk bus policies , 266 was officially renamed “Chengde Trunk Line” and the 266 section train was discontinued. The most frequent bus is 4 minutes. According to the statistics of Taipei City Bus Revenue in 2024, Chengde Trunk Line ranks fifth and is the most profitable of all Taipei City trunk bus routes . I believe that this line will still be the most relied-upon golden line for friends in Beitou, Shilin, and Xinyi Districts in the future. The terminal station is almost here and I am ready to get off . I also want to say goodbye to Ah Xian here and wish you a safe trip every time ! Dear friends, we successfully took the MRT to the City Hall Station. It took more than 2 hours to get here . But do you think this video is over? We will also take everyone to a secret attraction in Xinyi District to walk around! Now let’s go, Go! After saying goodbye to Ah Xian, an afternoon thunderstorm also hit Xinyi District. But it didn’t matter. A few days later, I took advantage of the good weather and set out from the MRT City Hall Station again to take the Chengde Line to go deep into Xinyi District. To reach the secret place in Xinyi District, please remember to get off at Songren Road Station and follow Wuxing Street through the Metropolitan Bus. Wuxing Street Station will be the site of the East Ring Section of the MRT Circular Line in the future and will face the fate of relocation. I came to record it before the relocation~ Wuxing Street is at the end of Lane 600 of Wuxing Street. The first secret place is the “Selling Rice Ancient Road”. You can follow the built wooden plank road all the way to Lane 600 and pass through Taihe Park. The Selling Rice Ancient Road is not far away. You can eat and drink at 7-11 before going on the road to sell rice . The Rice Trail is located at the end of Lane 100, Lane 600, Wuxing Street. The word “粜” is pronounced the same as “跳”, which means selling grain. The archway of the Xinpoling Rice Trail Temple is the entrance to the trail. There are two old coal mines on the mountain in Xinyi District. One is the “Dexing Coal Mine” next to the entrance of the Rice Trail. It was mined by the “Dexing Coal Mine” during the Japanese occupation period. After the pit was closed and renovated in the late 1973 , the interior of the long-abandoned mine was improved. However, it is a pity that the original automatic sensor solar lighting recording did not work when I went in that day. I had to use the flashlight on my mobile phone to explore it. The total length of the Rice Trail is about 500 stone steps. Next to it is the Xinpi River. At that time, people living in Sanzhang In order to save time and energy in transportation, farmers in the Li area opened up this mountain trail for the transportation and trade of rice to Nangang, Muzha, Shenkeng, Jingmei and other places. The total length is about 400 meters. There are temples of the God of Wealth and Ksitigarbha Temple along the way for worship. After walking about 2/3 of the way, the Temple of Rice God is almost here. The Rice God is the only relic of the ancient road. It was built during the Daoguang period. In the early days, it was just a simple stone temple set up by farmers. In 1987, believers donated money to renovate the Rice God Temple and paved the stone steps with cement. It was completed in 1990. Walking down the path next to the Rice God Temple will lead to Ziyun Street of Yucui Villa. Continue walking up and you will see the archway of Xinpoling Rice God Temple again, which is the Rice God. The end of the trail takes about 30 minutes to complete. The end point is Chongde Street and Qianqiu Pavilion. This is a cemetery area. Usually , no buses pass by. Only during the Qingming Festival, there are tomb-sweeping buses passing by. Friends who are not familiar with the road conditions here suggest that you go back the same way and go down the mountain. I rented a YouBike and came to the second attraction , which is the second old coal mine in Xinyi District – Hexing Coal Mine. Turn right next to Triangle Park and ride up to Dongda Pai. When you see Lane 150, Section 5, Xinyi Road, turn left. This is the alley next to the Joint Logistics Technical Training Center. It takes about 10 minutes to ride there, but please note that there is a short steep uphill section here, which requires a little physical strength to ride up! Hexing Coal Mine is located beside Jiupi River. It was established in 1936. Walking along the coal car track, the painted relief wall depicts the coal mining process. It seems like going back to the mining scene at that time. There is a bat cave here. If you are lucky , you may have the opportunity to see the traces of bats. Going up the spiral staircase is the entrance of Hexing Coal Mine . On the left is the entrance of Thumb Mountain. Due to time constraints, I will not take you to this section of the tunnel entrance. There are illustrations of coal mining sites and ventilation operations inside. Although Hexing Coal Mine is only 10 meters long , it has witnessed the glorious history of Taiwan’s coal industry. After visiting Hexing Coal Mine, I finally rode YouBike along Wuxing Street. You have to enter from Lane 394, Wuxing Street, the seminary . There is also a YouBike parking area . After returning the bike, I Then we walked to the last attraction. We walked along Lane 53, Lane 320, Wuxing Street for about 3 minutes. This is the circular route of Hui’an Park. Both sides are connected. I first chose the stairs next to the right route, which leads to Songshan Temple and Lane 284, Wuxing Street. I continued to walk up for about 1 minute. The wide lawn blocked the sun. It was quite comfortable to cool off in the pavilion below. If you go from the left route, you will see the dragonfly-shaped landscape stairs with mosaic tiles, which are quite eye-catching. However, when you come to the commanding height, you will see the viewing platform where you can enjoy the Taipei 101 building. If you want to watch beautiful fireworks on New Year’s Eve but don’t want to be so crowded, you can definitely take beautiful photos of fireworks here. I hope these 3 secret places can let everyone know the different appearance of Xinyi District! OK! Dear friends , we finally came to Hui’an Park. Here we took everyone to visit 3 different attractions in Xinyi District. I hope you will like this episode’s itinerary. The video of this episode is recorded here for you. If you like our video , please like, subscribe, share and turn on the little bell. I am Albert. Finally, I will say goodbye to everyone with the 101 behind me ~ Bye Bye!
