[사나의 냉터뷰] 월드클래스 햇살들의 만남⭐l EP.14 BTS 제이홉(j-hope) 편
Hey, everyone. This is SANA from “SANA’s Cold Interview.” So today… This is actually the outfit I wanted to wear during the last shoot. But I ended up liking something else better that time so I saved this one and decided to wear it today. When I heard about today’s guest my first thought was “He’s really coming on Cold Interview?” And the area where all the staff members usually are is completely packed. It’s not normally like that, you know? That just shows how incredibly famous he is and how much love he receives. That’s probably the best way to describe him. Also, when it comes to this person you almost don’t even need an introduction. He has everything. Performance, personality and even variety show charm. Please welcome the one and only J-HOPE, loved all around the world. This feels a little awkward. Nice to see you. – Hello, hello.
– Please have a seat. You’re so bright and radiant. Could you introduce yourself to the camera first? Hi, everyone. I’m J-HOPE from BTS. Seeing you in person, you really have such a cheerful face. – Me? Really?
– Yeah. Oh, I guess I do smile a lot… – They said you’re like a sunshine character.
– Sunshine character! Yeah, it really felt like sunshine just walked in. You’ve been smiling so brightly the whole time. I think that’s more you, SANA. Stop it! So what brought you on to “SANA’s Cold Interview” this time? To be honest I came to promote my new song. Perfect reason to be here. I mean, yes, promotion is important but honestly, since it’s you, SANA I figured you’d lead the interview really well. How do I go about this with a sunbae like you? No, you’re so good at this. I’ve been watching you for a while. And if you’ve seen Cold Interview before, you might know we do something called “banmo time.” – Banmo?
– Yeah. But I’m not very good at dropping honorifics… – Really?
– Yeah. What do I do? I’m really good at dropping them. Well, it’s a rule, so we should stick to it. So, usually do you find it hard to speak informally regardless of age? Yeah, I don’t think I’m someone who can easily switch to casual speech. But once I get closer to someone I naturally open up and speak more casually. And since you’re here to promote your new song feel free to talk comfortably. Just imagine I’m your younger sister or something. Treat me casually and I’ll do the same. – Got it.
– Should I just call you “oppa” then? Why? What is it? What’s going on? Why? Hold on, okay, alright. – Got it, yeah.
– Yeah. Alright then. Okay, SANA, SANA, yeah. – Oppa.
– Let’s go! Honestly, it’s not that common – for TWICE and BTS to talk like this in official settings.
– Right. – This kind of thing doesn’t happen that often.
– Yeah. Just a few months ago – I couldn’t have even imagined this.
– Same. A few months ago, I was in the military watching TWICE videos like “Wow…” “Wow, as expected!” We can’t turn on the air conditioner here, right? I’m really warm today. I danced earlier, and I still haven’t cooled down. I danced earlier, too. – Getting ready for your comeback?
– Yeah. I just came from practice. Alright, let’s do banmo. Banmo time. – Okay, banmo!
– But how long has it been since we last saw each other? I was thinking about that. – What I remember is
– Yeah, yeah. – when we were promoting “Boy With Luv.”
– Yeah x6 I think our schedules overlapped around then. I remember it so clearly because I don’t know if you remember but we took a photo together. I think we did! You don’t look like you remember. – No, no, I think we did.
– I’ll show you later. For some reason, someone said we should take a picture together and I was like, “Really? That sounds great.” At the time, TWICE was super, totally hot. Hot! Just pure hotness. So I thought, “This is awesome.” We got to take a photo together like that. – Back when our activities overlapped
– Yeah. – TikTok wasn’t a thing.
– Right, right. – There were no challenges either.
– Yeah x4 The only chance to interact was just passing by and saying hi. I remember wondering, “Would it be okay to ask for a photo?” – I think that’s what was going through my mind.
– Yeah, yeah. I even remember what you were wearing back then. Really? What were you wearing? I don’t know why I remember this – but I think we were wearing pink outfits
– Yeah. and the TWICE members were wearing similar-colored outfits, too. No way. I want to see it. Show me. I’ll show you later, for real. You’re two years ahead of us, right? You debuted in 2013? We debuted in June 2013. June 13th. – When did you debut? 2015…
– October 2015. – That’s right, that’s right.
– Do you remember when we debuted? – Yeah, of course I do.
– Really? From the moment you debuted you were already doing really well. You were doing so well that I thought, “This is an amazing group.” Seriously, back then you were doing incredibly well. The song was so good, too. – “Like OOH-AHH.”
– The one with the zombies coming out of the bus? – Yeah, zombies suddenly appear on the bus.
– Zombies, right, right. – I think it was around our “I NEED U” era.
– Yeah x5. That’s right. I remember that really clearly. What I remember is back then whenever there was a holiday or special occasion, they’d always have special programs – and idols would do variety shows together.
– Yeah x3 Do you remember we did “The Boss Is Watching” together? – “The Boss Is Watching”?
– Yeah. – Hold on.
– That was the one where each company’s CEO came on the show – and their representative artists, too.
– Right, right. They’d play games with their CEOs’ honor – on the line.
– How do you even remember that? That show was intense. There was a member who had dyed their hair the day before and they got totally soaked during a game to the point where the dye was washing out while filming. Now that I think about it, we actually overlapped a lot. – I remember we did a special stage together. Like a…
– Yeah x3 I think we did a performance of “Sorry, Sorry.” – We did. Yeah, we totally did!
– Yeah x3 – We did this move, this move. This one, this one.
– Yeah. – I don’t even know why we were so sorry, but we just kept doing that move.
– It was an outdoor stage. – Yeah, that’s right.
– Yep, that was it. TWICE and BTS – I think we actually had way more overlap than people might think.
– Yeah. We did a ton of performances and stuff like that together. – There was a period when we were both super active at the same time
– Yeah x4 – and since our schedules lined up,
– Right, right. – I feel like we did a lot together.
– But honestly, it’s amazing. Even now, it feels like you still have the same passion as you did when you first debuted. When I see your performances I remember watching you guys on the dorm TV back when we were still trainees. – Oh, really?
– Yeah. You know that performance where you come out of the bus? – Didn’t you do something like that?
– Oh, that… – Yeah, you did!
– That… Wow, you’re opening that Pandora’s box? There were a bunch of scenes with buses. You came out all fired up kicked open the door, and yeah, same bus scene! – Oh, that’s right. Yeah, we came out of a bus too.
– Yeah, the bus. The way I remember you guys back then and the way you are on stage now of course, the stage has gotten way bigger but the energy feels exactly the same. That’s seriously amazing. It’s something I really respect. You can tell how much we love being on stage. All seven of us are like that. We love performing we love singing our own songs we just really love what we do. That’s why we worked so well together, built each other up and made it all the way here. But TWICE members are just the same. – I always thought…
– Yeah, we work so hard. Yeah, you’re always working so hard. And personally, I’ve always cheered you on. Every time I watched an end-of-year show there was this one moment I really looked forward to. It was when you gave your award speeches. You would go… “ARMY!” “ARMY! And the fact that I could always hear that every time when you got an award and went up on stage that was the moment I waited for. “Are they gonna say it now?” “ARMY!” – “They said it! They said it!” And honestly,
– That’s so vivid… You really remember things well. We even used to mimic it in our waiting room. Isn’t it kind of the same for us? Like when we yell “ONCE!” like that? “ONCE!” I mean, not exactly like that. – It left a strong impression on me.
– For us, it was more like… Yeah, we said it super loudly. Whenever we won an award the first thing we’d think was “We have to shout the name of the people we trust and lean on the most.” – And everyone really loved it.
– Yeah x3 “ARMY!” “ONCE!” How have you been? After getting discharged from the military I ended up doing a lot of things. But the most important one was definitely the tour. The most recent thing I did was finish the tour. That’s seriously amazing. When you’re performing as BTS of course, tons of people come out to see you. – You get so much love and a lot of media coverage.
– Yeah. You get so much attention. So, going on a world tour as a solo artist I feel like that couldn’t have been easy. You must have felt some pressure. But I read that every single show sold out. And it wasn’t just concerts in Korea or even just around Asia. It was a world tour. – That’s honestly incredible.
– Why are you so good at talking? You’re really good at speaking. How is your Korean this good? I learned well at JYP, right? Amazing… seriously. At first, before I started – I was honestly really scared.
– Yeah, yeah. I kept thinking, “Can I really do this on my own?” But thankfully, it all went really well. It ended successfully so now, deep down – I feel a lot more at ease.
– Yeah x4 While I was doing it, though since I’m not the type to take things lightly I really carried a heavy sense of responsibility. Because it wasn’t seven of us anymore. It was just me. And all the spotlight was on that one person. For almost two and a half hours straight. So, I approached every stage with that responsibility in mind. BTS is already known for its passionate performances. So, watching you sing and hold the stage on your own from start to finish, that looked so impressive to me. Thank you. – You’re welcome.
– I appreciate it. It’s not like anything came easily. I worked really hard. But it looked like you were having so much fun. That junior, do you call them junior? From the military? – Yeah, junior.
– When you met him you looked so hyped up and excited. I was thinking, “Wait, why is he here?” I was so happy to see him that my hands just started moving on their own. Seeing someone in the audience – and there were so many people there.
– Right, right. – But one guy in the middle
– Yeah. kind of stood out. And I was like, “Huh? Who is that?” Turned out it was one of my favorite juniors from the military. He came to the show. He actually bought a ticket himself. – He really did.
– That’s amazing. – Yeah.
– Ticketing is crazy hard. – You’ve got to go to a PC café to even try, right?
– Exactly. So I was really surprised and I ended up mentioning it on stage. “There’s my junior from the military here today. I don’t even know how he got in.” I’d be like, “I knew he’s amazing, but still…” “He’s so cool on stage!” Friends from my enlistment, juniors, seniors they all reach out to me. They say things like, “I’ve been watching you.” “You feel like such a different HOSEOK now.” “HOSEOK hyung, It’s so weird seeing you like that.” “I can’t believe I’m talking to the same person I used to know.” They say that kind of stuff all the time. To have BTS J-HOPE saved in their phone contacts that’s got to feel so surreal. I think fans really love that kind of thing, too. I heard there’s a phrase you’re trying to stop saying. What is it? Have you been saying it today? I’m not sure if it’s come out during this talk but every time I do interviews – there’s this certain habit I’ve noticed.
– What is it? I say things like “in the end” a lot. Also, “honestly.” Or “in many ways.” – I say those all the time.
– Oh. Every time I see myself talking I think, “Why do I keep saying that?” It’s something I really want to fix. Why do you want to fix it? Wait a second, that question was… – Just… well…
– Why do you want to fix it? – I feel like the reason you keep saying those phrases
– Yeah. – might be tied to your members, too.
– Yeah? That probably has something to do with it, right? Because when those kinds of words come out it’s usually when you’re trying to explain something to someone. – Like you’re trying to deliver a message clearly.
– Yeah x3 – So when you’re in those situations
– Yeah. words like “in the end” or “honestly” naturally come out. Wow, that’s a new way of thinking about it. So I wasn’t wrong after all. It wasn’t me! But still, you want to fix it? Yeah, because when I hear myself repeating the same thing it feels a little awkward to me. It makes me seem kind of immature as a person. So it’s more like, “It’d be nice if I could fix that.” It’s not like, “Oh no, what do I do if I can’t stop?” “It’d be nice to fix it”? Then how about we – give it a try today?
– Yeah, should we? Yeah, I’ll help you. I’m good at this kind of thing. “In the end,” SANA helps out. “In many ways,” SANA helps out. “Honestly,” SANA helps out. Okay, every time you say one of those phrases I’ll be like, “Ah! You said it again!” – I’ll point it out for you.
– Okay, sounds good. – But if we just do that, it might not be that fun.
– Yeah. Wouldn’t it be more fun if there were a penalty? – A penalty?
– Yeah. – What should the penalty be?
– Like, for example… You could do some aegyo attack or something. Aegyo attack, aegyo attack. Or, since you’re making a comeback you could strike an ending fairy pose. – Like a facial expression or something.
– That’s a good idea. I’m actually going back on music shows this time. – For the first time in a while.
– And when it’s been a while you need a new self-introduction. – You have to say who you are.
– Self-introduction? – True.
– Right, right? – Like going back to a rookie mindset?
– Yeah. That sounds great. I love it. Not bad, right? Do something like that before you leave here. Alright. I’m not going to say those words today. I’m definitely fixing it today. For real. – “Honestly,” “in many ways,” “in the end.”
– “In many ways,” “in the end.” – “In the end.” Okay, okay, okay.
– Yeah, “in the end,” “in the end.” Then I’ll start making the smoothie. Smoothie? You’re making a smoothie? Yeah, when guests come on Cold Interview I make them a welcome drink. I heard you like Korean pears. It’s not that I’m obsessed with them but these days, pears are good for my condition. Do you eat them often at home? Pretty often. It’s not like I avoid them. You eat apples, too. Apples… You’re always eating apples. I love apples. I peel them and eat them in the morning. So now you’re switching from apples to pears? Yeah. I really like pears, too. How did you start caring about your condition like that? Because of the tour. – You end up flying a lot.
– Yeah x4 And that really affects your condition. – The weather keeps changing.
– Right. – Yeah x3
– In Southeast Asia – it’s hot outside but freezing inside the venues.
– Exactly. You dress light for the weather but the plane is freezing cold. I caught colds all the time. At some point, I started paying more attention to taking care of my body. P.R.O vibes. Total P.R.O. – P.R.O?
– Yeah, pro. Ah, P.R.P! Right. A total pro. P.R.O… SANA the pro. Pro. P.R.O… So, to make the smoothie – we have to peel this first.
– Yeah x3 But you seemed pretty good at peeling earlier. You want me to peel it? Alright, got it. If you peel it, I’ll put it in. Okay. I’ll do my best. – This pear is kind of hard to peel. Hold on.
– What? What’s going on? It’s nothing x4 So all that time you were eating apples you weren’t peeling them yourself? – Someone else peeled them?
– No, that’s not it. There were apples that weren’t peeled yet… – Let’s clap the slate and cut.
– No. – No x4
– Someone else did it for you, right? Pear and… Pear and apple skins are a little different in thickness. So is this pear the problem? No, no, no. Right now… The knife is the issue. The knife. – The knife?
– Yeah, this knife is weird. – But just watching you peel it
– Yeah. – it’s very… J-like.
– Why? x4 You’re not doing it all rough like slash-slash. You’re carefully peeling it so the skin doesn’t break. It’s like slice-slice-slice, nice and clean. Your eyes aren’t even moving. Totally focused. They’re locked in. But you’re actually a J in MBTI, right? Yeah, I’m a J. But honestly – I never cared much about MBTI.
– Yeah? But lately, so many people around me have told me to retake it so I did, and the result changed. – How did it change?
– I used to be… – INFJ, I think? Something like that.
– Yeah. But now it’s ESFJ. That’s such a big difference. – I was really surprised, too.
– That’s way different. Do you think it changed because of your solo activities? Like now you have to handle things on your own? Yeah, I think that plays a part. You meet a lot more people now. As I live and keep working my personality really seems to be changing. The J part stayed, so that makes sense. Wasn’t it a planner hamster or something? What was it? Squirrel? Wasn’t it a squirrel? What was it? When it comes to work I’m definitely a J. But when I travel or hang out, I’m not like that at all. – Do you like to be freer when you’re out?
– Yeah. Even when I travel I don’t plan things out. I’m the type to just go wherever feels right. If you pass a place that looks good, you’ll just go in? – Since I’m so thorough with work
– Yeah, yeah. I think that makes me want to loosen up a bit outside of that. But wow, I peeled this so badly. What do I do? – No, it looks nice.
– Really? Yeah. Okay, thank you. But this is a problem. Look at this. Oh no, oh no. Do you see this? It’s all stuck together. Are you good at cooking? – Why are you asking that? Why? For what?
– Well, I mean… This is a cooking show, isn’t it? – Yeah, but I’m not the one doing the cooking.
– Really? – Right. The guests are the ones who cook, right? Right? Right?
– The guest cooks. – Are you good at cooking?
– Me? Me? Cooking? I’m not exactly amazing at it, honestly. Oh! Penalty time! “Honestly”! – Really?
– Yeah. “I’m not exactly amazing at it.” “Honestly.” – So what do we do? What’s the penalty?
– Penalty? Self-intro. Yeah, do your self-introduction. – A self-intro?
– Yeah. How do I do that again? Self-intro… Hello, everyone. This is BTS’s J-HOPE. Love you. I already forgot how I did it. – How do I do the self-intro again?
– Oppa! Right when you said “Love you,” your company staff looked at their laptop and started typing something. – Oppa!
– This is killing me. What do I do? – But I heard that
– Yeah, yeah. the song you’re promoting this time has a sexy concept? It kind of ended up that way by chance. But if you introduce yourself all cheerfully like that no one would think your comeback has a sexy concept. That’s true. Then what do I do? You have to do it in a sexy way. What else? – Sexy?
– You’re a pro, oppa. Give it a try. Hold on. Sexy? If someone hypes me up, I can’t do it. Setting the stage. Here we go. – This is killing me.
– I really don’t like doing this stuff. But I love watching it. This is J-HOPE, back as sexy Hobi. – Suddenly, I got curious.
– Yeah, yeah, yeah. Go on. If the concept is sexy there are moments on stage – where you have to show that mood, right?
– Right? So, do you ever find yourself being more conscious of your actions in daily life? For me, when I smile it feels too soft on stage. So, I try not to smile too much. Because smiling makes you look too gentle on stage? Yeah. With how my face looks… – Yeah, yeah, sunshine.
– It’s kind of… Since I usually go around smiling on stage, where I want to look cool if I smile too it feels like it loses impact. I don’t think it makes you look light. You’re so good at it. Can you teach me one? That’s not something you can learn. It has to come naturally. Oh! Okay, okay. Got it. So you’re saying you have to be born with it. Wow, oppa, you peeled that really well. Oh, shoot. This one snapped. Do you like sweet things? Yeah, I really do. – You do?
– I love desserts. Oh, wow. Hey x3 Whoa. Hold on. Whoa. That looks super sweet. You said you like sweets. Yeah, I do. But isn’t that syrup? It’ll taste even better because SANA made it. It’ll taste even better because oppa peeled it. Should I peel this one too… Just this much? Yeah, yeah. Whatever you want. I eat anything. I’m not picky at all. Oh! Done. This one’s ready. It’s your first time having a pear smoothie, right? Yeah, it’s my first time. Looks good. Alright, let’s give it a taste. – Oh!
– Oh. – What is this?
– It’s actually legit. But I’ve had moments like this before, to be honest. Oh, really? I looks good, though. There’s no way this one wouldn’t taste good. Yeah, yeah. Exactly. Oh! I’m seriously so satisfied. All done! Let’s drink it. Oh! There’s something I want to try. Let’s do “Welcome, first time on Cold Interview?” together. Careful x3 It’s fine. I’m always like this. Okay, okay. Got it. Welcome… first time on Cold Interview, huh? Mmm! It’s good, right? Oh, it’s really good. The syrup amount was perfect. – Right?
– Yeah. But oppa, you’re actually my sunbae. Sunbae? What kind of sunbae? JYP public audition! Ah! Oh, right, yeah. I was a JYP public audition trainee. I was in the 6th gen. Sixth. Was JYP the company you wanted the most? I don’t think I had anything specifically in mind. I just wanted to grab any opportunity that came without regret. Back then, those public auditions were really active. I watched the 4th and 5th gen, too and everyone who went through them did really well. It looked like a lot of fun. That was probably my first time doing a public audition like that. Were you nervous? Actually, instead of being nervous my mindset was more like, “Let’s just go show what I’ve got.” And I think I had a lot of confidence in myself back then. I thought, “If I just show them what I can do, I’ll be fine.” That was the vibe. Maybe that came off a bit arrogant but I think that attitude helped me enjoy it. I think in that 6th gen JEONGYEON was there. Oh, really? Yeah, JEONGYEON was there also HA SUNGWOON, SUNGJAE BONA too. There were a lot of people. The whole vibe of the public audition back then had a kind of family feeling. – Really?
– Yeah, it did. That sounds fun. We were all cheering each other on and we had to put together one stage as a team. There was a dance team, a vocal team… Yeah, yeah? Yeah, that kind of thing. JEONGYEON did “Bo Peep Bo Peep,” remember? – Yeah, that’s right x5.
– Right? She did. She did “Bo Peep Bo Peep.” Yeah, that’s right. – I didn’t do this one.
– No. – That wasn’t you, oppa.
– Yeah, yeah, yeah. It wasn’t me. We were all trying to put together a good stage and the energy was really positive and supportive. I think we were all close back then. So when JEONGYEON debuted I think I ran into her and was like “Oh hey, hey!” Oh really? I’ve never seen that. I had no idea you and JEONGYEON even knew each other. Oh, really? We’re not super close or anything. You should’ve gotten close to her! Oh, should I have? Sorry, JEONGYEON… She’s younger than me, but still. JEONGYEON, you did so well back then. She probably would’ve felt a little disappointed. Everyone was really good back then. Was there anything you liked during your JYP days? I mean, it’s one of the Big 3. Back then, it was such a huge company and just being there made me feel like I was learning a lot. You know the old building? I lived in a gosiwon right in front of it. – Yeah x4.
– While preparing for the audition. So I went to the office a lot. In the basement, it was all “thump-thump-thump” beats. And we had this self-introduction thing where you’d say “Hey! I’m JEONG HOSEOK!” all loud and energetic. There’s this one video I’d love to erase. That one. Oh? Then, if you get the next penalty, do that video. I’ll lose my mind. JYP was such an honorable place to be. Since we’re talking about school days your dad was a literature teacher, right? Back in high school he was the literature teacher at the school I attended. I didn’t really listen well back then. I was so into dancing and everything. He was really strict and honestly, he was kind of scary. But now he’s become really gentle. Did you get 100s on your literature tests? Come on… not quite. Not exactly. But I really tried hard. I gave it my best. Trying is what matters most. Putting in the effort is what’s meaningful. I tried really hard not to make my dad feel embarrassed. You’re a good son. I never even fell asleep in class. Oh, not once? I really didn’t. Not a single time. – I made a promise to myself.
– Whoa x4 – Because all the teachers were super close, right?
– Yeah. They all knew each other so if anyone said, “Mr. JEONG’s kid was sleeping in class,” just imagining that made me feel so bad. So, I made a real effort to stay awake. I’d just sit like this the whole time. So, oppa, were you popular? Popular? Me… I went to a co-ed school but it was separated by gender. I kept to myself a lot, so I wouldn’t say I was popular. Still, when you walked by… No, no, it wasn’t like that. There must’ve been someone you liked, though and at least one person who liked you too. Yeah, of course. Everyone has that during school. I tried to stay focused on school life but when I’d see someone walking by I’d glance over. There’s something really beautiful about that time in life. Yeah, totally. So innocent and sweet. It was really nice. Since we’re talking about school and crushes what’s your ideal type? Ideal type? I’m not asking because it’s you, oppa. This is actually a Cold Interview signature question. – Really?
– Yeah, I ask everyone. Ideal type… wow! It feels like it’s been ten years since I’ve been asked that. But I do have a clear answer. Someone different from me. I tend to be drawn to people who are unlike me. In terms of personality? Yeah, personality, values… And interests? Yeah, I mean, of course, we can’t be different in every single way. But I think I prefer people who think differently from me. Like if I asked, “What do you think is in this pear drink?” I’d probably answer simply. I’d just say it has pear and maybe some other ingredients. But the other person might answer from a totally different perspective. And I’d find that really interesting. Like, “Which farm did this pear come from?” That kind of thing? Whoa, wait, what is this? Wait, what is this? What is happening? What is this? Why is this stuck? Why is it stuck? What is happening? What is this? Why is this stuck? Why is it stuck? Why is this stuck? Why? Why is it stuck like this? Hey, hey. Wow, this is so embarrassing. Why is it stuck like that? Oppa, I thought you grew wings for a second. This is hilarious. This is way too funny. So awkward. Okay x3 Right x3 Even your back looked funny. Why is the chair stuck? Oh wow. This is embarrassing… yeah. Anyway, I like people who are different from me. Yeah, people who think differently people with different values. As for looks, I’m not really sure. Some people like cat types, dog types, bunny types foxes, otters… all those types. As for me… I used to really like salamander types. – Sala… salamander? What’s that?
– Yeah, salamander type. How do I explain it? Not quite dinosaur-like but kind of small, kind of… Wait, who even… Like, lizardy? No, not quite a lizard. It’s not super defined or sharp-looking. Oppa, that’s literally… You look like that type yourself. Look. Oh, so that’s what a salamander looks like. – Yeah, when you really look at it…
– That’s basically a lizard. No, it’s more of a vibe. Kind of soft… well, not exactly soft, but… Ah, now I get it! Kind of like an oompa loompa? Oompa loompa? Yeah? Yeah. Rather than someone with really sharp features… More like a soft tofu look? But now I’m leaning more toward cat or fox types. Alright, then, next question. Someone who looks exactly like your ideal type but your personalities clash. Or someone who looks nothing like your ideal type but whose personalities match perfectly. Ah… I’d go with someone whose personality matches. I thought you’d answer that right away but you really thought about it. Well, earlier, I said I like people who think differently from me. That kind of threw the balance off. But at the end of the day, personalities need to click. From what we’ve talked about, oppa it sounds like your range is pretty wide. Starting from tofu face types to cat and fox types… That means you like everything in between, too, right? I have kind of a… broad spectrum, I guess. – So basically, it all works for you?
– Yeah, pretty much. Someone who’s kind to everyone versus someone who’s cold to everyone. Like, let’s say there are a bunch of guys over there. There’s a cool oppa, a handsome oppa a strong oppa, whatever. And she’s cold to all of them. But she’s also cold to you. Ah! And then there’s someone who’s polite and sweet to all of them. And also sweet to you. What’s better? Wow, the way you explained that… You explained it so well. But I think I prefer someone who’s cold. I think I like colder personalities better. Okay, next one. Texting a thousand times a day versus texting once a month. Oh, definitely texting a thousand times. That’s just not realistic. How would you even do that? – But texting is a form of affection too, right?
– Yeah, totally. And that kind of expression is actually really meaningful. Okay, then, what if it’s a thousand completely meaningless messages? “Did you eat?” “Yeah.” “What’d you eat?” “Salisbury steak.” “Oh, I see.” “You?” “I had a smoothie.” “Oh, was it good?” Just those kinds of messages. Totally pointless small talk going back and forth? Nonstop texting, like “What are you doing now?” “Working.” Then, sending a photo. Still, I think that kind of stuff counts as affection. I’d rather keep that going than not talk at all. – Texting only once a month is just too extreme.
– Yeah, that’s really harsh. It is. Okay, moving on. Next one. Someone who always decides where to go on dates versus someone who always says, “Anywhere’s fine.” “Is there somewhere you want to go?” “Anywhere’s fine.” “Really, nothing?” “Anywhere.” You ask next week, next month “What should we do this week?” “Anywhere.” It’s better when someone just decides. Because, like I said earlier if it’s not work-related, I’m not the type to plan anything when I’m off. Let’s say you went overseas for one, two, or even three weeks. You come back totally exhausted and jetlagged. Wow, that was such a good analogy. You could write novels. Seriously, write one! Actually, publish a book! Like a… – romance series or something?
– No. Maybe a webtoon, then. You’d be so good at it. Okay, last one. Getting ghosted versus getting dumped for someone else. Ghosted or dumped for someone else? It’s been a while since I heard this one. Both are awful. But isn’t getting dumped for someone else more painful? That one’s more emotionally damaging. Getting ghosted is just rude, and getting dumped for someone else is… – Ghosting is just being a jerk.
– A jerk? So, rude or mean? I think getting dumped for someone else feels more like a direct hit. Right? At least say something. Imagine some time passes, and suddenly your boyfriend is with someone else. Yeah. That would really shock you. You’d start thinking, “Did I really spend all that time
on someone like that?” Then you’d start blaming yourself, too for not being able to see the signs. That kind of regret would hit hard. Just being disappointed in yourself… That’s the emotion I would get. But in a way, if you end up disliking them, isn’t that a little better? Still, I think getting dumped for someone else is worse. Okay, so to sum it all up when it comes to looks as long as the person has their own charm and uniqueness, you’re good with that. Yeah. I mean, you did say you like everything from tofu-face types to cat and fox types. And when it comes to personality, you’re more drawn to people who are different from you. – That’s what makes them attractive.
– True. – When you look at them as a person, they stand out.
– Exactly. That’s it. You summed it up perfectly. I think we’ve talked about everything now but I feel like we barely touched on your album. Tell us more about your album, oppa. The final single is a bit more bold. Sexy! I really wanted to express more of J-HOPE in it. So it’s bolder, stronger and shows a side people haven’t seen from me before. I think people watching and listening will find it really interesting. The third and final single in the three-song project “Killin’ It Girl” is coming out. Wait, why didn’t you mention that? Isn’t the whole concept this time supposed to be sexy? Didn’t you say you’ve been working out a lot? Let’s not get the wrong idea. I wasn’t like “Wahhh wahhh wahhh” People might imagine something like “Wahhh ugh ugh wahhh!” You totally just did it. Oh? But the photos came out really well. It’s just muscle you build naturally, survival muscle. It’s part of your body, so it’s yours, oppa. In the military, there’s not much to do so I figured I’d start working out. Normally, when I work out a lot I end up getting injured. My wrists are super thin and stuff. Your skin is so pale, oppa. Yeah, my arm. – It’s really pale.
– Yeah, like this. It’s like a baby’s butt. Oh my god x3 Seriously. So, since I get hurt easily I try not to go too hard. But in the military, I just did what I could and I guess that’s how it turned out. How satisfied are you with it? Satisfied? A solid 100%. I mean, how could you not? But still, since it’s a side of me, I haven’t shown before… Filming must’ve been so fun. Like, when we were shooting, and I looked at the monitor I kept thinking, “Wow, I actually look really good.” No matter how they filmed it, I looked great every time. That’s why I started getting a little worried. I mean, I do have some side fat, you know? I was like, “What if it shows?” So I kept checking and poking at it here and there. – Oppa, you’re so humble.
– Huh? Why? You didn’t even have to mention that. – Oh?
– But the fact that you did – just proves you’re such a good person.
– Oh really? I don’t know. I always try to stay grounded. – It’s just…
– No… kind of embarrassing. But that’s exactly the kind of side people love about you. No wonder you’re so well-loved. Thank you for saying that. So, how much are you planning to do the challenge this time? – The challenge?
– Yeah. – I’m gonna do a lot.
– Oh! I have to do one with you, too, SANA. I got your video, by the way. – “Yeah, I got the video.”
– The one with all the SANAs. At first, I wasn’t used to doing challenges but now everyone’s doing them. You even did one with our members. – Oh, right!
– We even did “Shanghai Romance” together. I was seriously so surprised. I really gave it my all that time. – I know.
– I was doing all this and someone said, “Let’s do it,” and I was like, “Yeah, yeah, let’s go.” Let me tell you a little story. They made time, came over and did it all the way at HYBE. I was super thankful. So I told them, “Next time, if I get the chance,” “I’ll definitely return the favor. Just say the word.” Then suddenly, Momo goes “What should we do? What should we do now?” But I didn’t mean right now. That wasn’t what I meant. She goes, “What should we do? Got any ideas?” Then she asks “Oppa, do you know Shanghai Romance?” And I’m like, “Romance? What romance?” Then she plays the song. It’s super flashy. Like, flashy, flashy, flashy. She says, “It’s trending these days. Let’s do this one.” And I couldn’t exactly go “This isn’t what I meant,” right? So I just said, “Sure, let’s do it. Sounds good.” That’s how we ended up doing it. I was caught off guard, too. But do you know why you ended up doing “Shanghai Romance”? The day before that, we were actually in Shanghai. And we filmed “Shanghai Romance” while we were there. – Really?
– So, I think that’s the only reason it came to mind. That why we did it! No special reason. That’s probably it. When she suddenly suggested it, I was like, “What? This?” – Still, it was fun. Seriously fun.
– I really tried my best. J-HOPE, what does “sexy” mean to you? – Sexy?
– Yeah. Sexy, hmm… This is your last shot to sell it, so go for it. I think it’s a leap! A challenge! But seriously, I’d never done something like this before. I felt like, “This time, it’s okay to be a little bold.” It’s not like you can do sexy all the time. If you do sexy all the time, it stops being sexy. Exactly. You’re doing so well. It was something I really wanted to try at least once. It was a dream of mine. And being able to express that in my own style was just really fun. Being bold like that was a challenge in itself. Right? It’s like the sunny squirrel is suddenly going full sexy mode. It was a real challenge. Alright, let’s take a look inside. – Open.
– Open! Oppa, you’re known for loving food and your fridge totally shows it. I can’t eat a lot but I really like eating delicious things. So you’re saying it’s packed with good stuff? Not exactly, but… That thing on the top left isn’t that something they sell at Japanese convenience stores? How’d it end up here? – Isn’t that the one with Choo Sung-hoon…
– Yeah, that’s the one. Sung-hoon hyung was one this show, right? It’s a coffee pudding from the convenience store I really like. – It’s seriously delicious. It’s the best.
– You’ve got good taste. It really is tasty. Japanese convenience stores are amazing. Your eyes just lit up. – So good. Seriously.
– Yeah, it is. They’re super well-stocked and super clean. I bring some back every time I go to Japan. I even had one yesterday. Lately, what I’ve been hooked on in the morning is sliced cabbage like this. Even just with this tastes really good. Oh wow, now I’m suddenly craving that. You can really taste the natural sweetness of the veggies. The sauce basically does all the work, though. And it kind of makes me feel healthier, too. I usually make eggs in the morning. I heard fertilized eggs are better, so I tend to eat those more often. So, like, the higher-quality eggs? Yeah, they taste richer somehow. When I eat them, they just feel better. So they’re definitely different then. Yeah, that’s why I go for fertilized eggs. A guy who even cares about his eggs. Totally. Eggs are important. Eggs, eggs. This one’s something I really treasure. My parents gave it to me. It’s called “seokcheong,” honey that comes from rocks. Honey from rocks? Yeah, I didn’t know either. But apparently, it’s honey that comes out of rocks and it’s supposed to be really rare. Why would honey come out of rocks? I was surprised, too. They said it’s super good for you. So now, before every performance on tour I take a spoonful of this honey. And does it help? That’s become part of my routine. I don’t eat before a show. Oppa, you’re gonna collapse! I just take a spoonful of honey and go right on stage. You go on stage without eating anything? Well, I eat earlier in the day. – Oh, so you eat early and not right before?
– Yeah, exactly. When I was performing with BTS, – you know how amazing the catering is.
– Yeah, for real. They serve lunch and dinner so consistently. But if I ate dinner, I couldn’t perform well. So before a show, I always take a big spoonful of honey. And this one was a gift from a friend. It’s pear and balloon flower extract. I’ve been catching colds a lot lately and my throat’s been rough. Sometimes I drink it straight. Back then, I couldn’t handle bitter things at all but after turning thirty my taste buds changed. Now I actually seek stuff like that out. I couldn’t even eat broccoli before. – Such a baby.
– Now, there’s barely anything I can’t eat. I bet you used to hate bell peppers, too. Bell peppers… Well, I can eat them… Your voice is so loud. “Bell peppers!” I didn’t expect “bell peppers” to echo like that. – So loud.
– Oh really? Is my voice that loud? You must really take care of your voice. You’re trying to show that off, huh? Was my voice really that loud? – It totally echoed in here.
– Oh, really? Sorry about that. Yeah, I like bell peppers. I don’t dislike them. This one, I just order it. When I feel like eating bibimbap, I throw everything in and eat it like that. And this is the sauce. “Chick-fil-A.” That’s from the fast food place in the U.S., right? It’s their in-house sauce. This stuff is a total all-purpose sauce. What does it taste like? I prefer sauces with bold flavors. It’s all in English. Oppa, you speak English well, though. I have a bit of an English phobia. What flavor is it… hmm yeah… Not sure how to explain it. Maybe like bulgalbi? That flavor’s not so common in the U.S. Oh, that type of – short rib with bones flavor?
– Yeah, kind of like that. That galbi-type flavor. It’s really good. There are a bunch of flavors, too. I used to love soda. Back then, I drank tons of Coke, Sprite and stuff like that. But now, I just drink sparkling water. Your taste really changed. Totally. So when I go to restaurants and they ask, “Still or sparkling?” I always say, “Sparkling, please.” Hearing you say that makes you seem so grown up. What part sounds grown up? Hardly anyone I know orders sparkling water. Oh really? Most people just go with still water. Yeah, just plain water. But I really like sparkling water. That’s cool. Oh yeah? – Well…
– It gives off a certain vibe, you know? Oh really? It’s really refreshing. And next to it is an electrolyte drink? Yeah, I drink those during performances. They’re usually right in front of you, right? Yeah. Since I only have honey before going on stage when I start feeling a little hungry, I drink one of those and it helps me feel recharged. Snacks. I love snacks. And they’re from so many different countries. Trying to show off your world tour haul, huh? Trying to show off that you get catering, huh? Yeah, I brought them on purpose to show it off! But actually, I thought it would be nice to share so I just grabbed some from home today. Oh wow, wow! – I’m being honest.
– So, these are your must-haves, right? I just thought it’d be fun to share them so that’s why I brought them. This one is a snack I like from Singapore. It’s super savory and really tasty. What does it make you want? Uh, beer…? I wanna try some. Mmm! It’s kind of salty, right? – It melts in your mouth.
– Like Cheetos? It’s kind of sweet too. And this one is a really good Thai snack. – Oh.
– It’s kind of sweet and salty? I really love that sweet-and-salty combo. Mmm! It kind of tastes like that one… You know that old-school Korean silver snack? Ah, yeah, yeah! The one we used to eat a lot in high school. – Hold on. Vcorn? – Yeah, that’s it!
– Yeah, right, Vcorn! – Right.
– Yep, Vcorn x3 The corn snack in the silver packaging. Yeah, yeah, it’s really similar. How do you know that? How do you know about that one? Back when I was a trainee… Oh, you had it back then? You know, trainees still went to school, right? So I’d wait outside their school around the time they finished and then go in and buy snacks at the school store – then head back to the company.
– Really? That one’s pretty hard to know about. Only Korean students know that snack. Yeah, it tastes just like that one. For real. As for Korean snacks, I really love Homerun Ball. Oh, you must love chocolate. Yeah, I’m really into sweets. – Have you always liked sweets?
– No. – It changed?
– Yeah, that changed too. – This one seems super popular.
– Yeah, yeah. In the military whenever this one came in as a gift, it was a big deal. I became super popular in the unit. I like Sun Chips too. Seems like I’m really into Korean snacks. This one’s a meal kit. At hotels… What do you usually order at a hotel? Fries, no question. I love fries, too. Whenever I’m at a hotel I try to order something that goes above the basics. Like steak? Either ribeye or bolognese, usually. What’s ribeye? It’s… a kind of steak. You could’ve just said steak? Why make it complicated? Okay, okay. You said that just to mess with me, didn’t you? Alright, steak it is. Either steak or bolognese. This one’s a bolognese meal kit. Do you cook at home, too? I try to – but not as much as I used to.
– Since you’re busier now. Back when I first started living alone I was like, “Wow!” – There’s that whole solo-living fantasy, right?
– Totally. So I tried cooking for myself, but now… – Did you see his legs? Look at his legs.
– What? What? He cooked using his legs. Oh really? Okay, okay. There was that solo-living dream but these days, it’s just too much work. I just make meal kits or order delivery. And is that dessert down there? Yeah, there’s a bunch! That’s bread and over here, this one is something I used to eat a lot at a hotel I liked. I think it’d be great to try that later. It looks delicious. Even the way it looks. We’ll try it in a bit, okay. I love apples. They’re perfect when I slice one up in the morning. What fruit do you like? Me? I like melon. – You like melon?
– Yeah. That orange melon is so good. Ah, the Yubari melon. Oh, yeah, yeah. – That melon is seriously good.
– So good. But even regular ones are tasty, right? – Yeah, even regular ones are good.
– Right? – Japanese melons are really sweet.
– Seriously tasty. I can eat a whole one by myself. I can totally finish one. – Oh, you eat the whole thing?
– Yeah. That’s impressive. That’s impressive! “That’s impressive!” I just wanted to try saying that. What’s that? Wow, I’ve never seen anyone use the space that efficiently. – Oh really?
– Yeah. Do you like Pyongyang-naengmyeon – I’ve never had them.
– Never? A lot of people say, “It’s really good if you go to the right place, let’s go together,” but no one ever actually takes me. Really? Here. For you! Thank you. I really love Pyongyang-naengmyeon. That super mild and bland flavor, I’m seriously into it. So I don’t even add salt to seolleongtang. – You just eat it as is?
– Yeah, just as is. The nutty flavor, as is? Yeah, I eat it for that clean taste. I like pho, too. Pho is so good. Oh, Emoi is seriously delicious! I’m obsessed with pho, too. I even went to the store not long ago. I order it a lot. I really love Southeast Asian food. Oh. So, if you look, there’s even cilantro here. I used to hate cilantro, though. Really? How’d you end up liking it? At some point, it started tasting good. Maybe from eating pho? Yeah, like while eating it… At first, it tasted kind of soapy and I was like, “What is this?” But then I started to get what was so special about it. I love tom yum goong so much. And I really love shabu shabu. Oh, that’s so good. So I buy veggies and do shabu shabu at home. I get meat separately. I really love Yonggary chicken. Maybe what you really wanted to say was that you like food shaped like this? Oh! Maybe that’s it. – Like a salamander?
– Anyway. We used to get it a lot in school lunch. And they always had a set number of pieces. – Oh.
– So even if you wanted more, you couldn’t get it. Maybe that’s why I ended up having a soft spot – for Yonggary chicken.
– Oh. When you’re hungry past midnight, eating it hits the spot. Eight pieces? Easy. Totally doable. I also love dumplings. This one here… Prawn dumplings? Wow, they’re stuffed. Really? Looks like my fridge is always packed. But you have so much food and stuff you like how do you manage yourself? I try not to eat late at night if I can help it. After what time? I usually eat dinner by 8. So after 9, I really try not to eat anything. Just one meal I enjoy and the rest I try to balance out. But after eating like that the next morning, don’t you feel better? – Yeah, I feel great.
– So refreshed, right? Yeah, I really felt that. When I ate late and woke up the next day my stomach felt so off and I was even hungrier. It was so rough, I thought, “This isn’t it.” That’s when I decided I should avoid eating late if I could. – So what are you going to cook for me today?
– Today? When I stay at hotels you know I go to hotels a lot with all the overseas tours. I’m always in hotels, and the food – sometimes gets really tiring, you know?
– Yeah, I get that. So, I thought about how to make hotel food like breakfast, taste better. I tried some stuff on my own. And it turned out really good. I liked it. All the ingredients are from the basic breakfast spread. You get toast, right? Bacon scrambled eggs and the combo of strawberry jam and bacon is just perfect. Sweet and savory. That’s what I plan to make for you today, SANA. Then you’ve got to cook for me but we can’t get your outfit dirty so I’ll give you an apron. Just a second. If you close your eyes, I’ll pick one that suits you. Oh, wait… I caught a glimpse of some lace. I wonder what that was, but I’ll close my eyes. – Option 1.
– Okay. – What is it?
– Option 2. Which one do you like better? Option 1. Whoa, this is trouble! Whoa… Oh my… So this is Option 2? Mine is Option 2. Do you like Option 2 better? Nah, there are pretty much the same. I’ll go with this one. It doesn’t even seem like it’ll work as an apron. Isn’t an apron supposed to be functional? Okay, that’s it. Why isn’t anyone saying that? Alright, here’s what I’ll do. Need help with anything? Nope, I got it. – Ah, okay.
– This is super simple. I almost feel embarrassed calling it cooking. Alright. The eggs… A bit of salt. Cook them over low heat. – Done.
– How many siblings do you have? Guess. – You have a younger sibling, right?
– A younger sibling? Do I seem like I have one? Feels like you’d have a little sister. A little sister? Nope. A little sister? I’ve seen your older sister. I know, your sister! – You have an older sister.
– Yeah, that’s right, I do. Oh, right. Maybe that’s why – you’re so good at matching energy with girls.
– Oh really? Maybe that’s why I thought that. I was like, “Does he have a little sister?” just from how you were treating me. It’s kind of a dream of mine. If I really had a younger sister I think I’d take such good care of her. Now that it’s done let’s scramble this. In it goes! Oh, wow x3 Oh, it smells amazing. No! Why? Why? There’s a bug, there’s a bug. Are you scared of bugs? Me? Not scared exactly… Scared…? I don’t like them. I mean, it’s not like I like them. But are there really people who like bugs? Probably not, right? But guys usually like them when they’re little. They catch them and stuff. Ugh, not me. You know, catching bugs. – Bugs?
– Kabutomushi. That thing… what’s it called? – Gattamushi?
– Kabutomushi. – What’s gattamushi?
– Kabutomushi. – Kabutomushi?
– Yeah. Oh, you mean stag beetles? Yeah, that’s it! I figured you’d know! Oh, stag beetles? Yeah, but I wasn’t really into that. I just thought, “So that’s something kids are really into, huh.” Like, “Why doesn’t that kid just hang with friends?” That’s how I felt. I was always in the mix with everyone else. If someone said, “Let’s do this,” I’d say, “Oh yeah? Let’s go.” If someone was like, “Hey, wanna do this?” I’d go, “Sure, let’s go.” That was my style. I wasn’t the type to say “I like this, want to do it with me?” It was more like, “They’re doing something at the playground?” then, “Oh, really? Let’s go.” You had that mature vibe even when you were a kid. – That was your base personality, huh?
– Oh really? You were just really good at going along with others. Yeah, kind of like that. – Am I going too slow right now?
– No, not at all? I’m honestly not good at multitasking. So when someone brings up a serious topic it feel like you stop first to switch – into a serious mindset.
– Oh really? And then you respond. That’s just because I can’t multitask well. When you were a drill instructor you must’ve been told you were really cool, right? My time in the military… I really did it right. Like, I didn’t just coast through it. I had moments where I acted like a proper drill instructor and all that. I saw that side of you and thought, “Wow, he’s cool.” You were standing there in a crowded place and you said something like, “Please make way.” What was it exactly? Treating everyone the same, no matter who they are – that’s actually not easy, I think.
– Yeah, totally. But the way you just focused on your role and acted that way I thought, “He’s a real pro.” Oh, but that was really just my duty. It was for a very important safety event so yeah, for me I think I’ve always had this strong sense of professionalism. Like, if I’m responsible for something I feel like I have to do it well. I think that awareness is just part of me. So, I think it just came out naturally. But how do you even know that video? Now… – Should we grill this?
– Yeah, we should. I’ll handle this part. Wow, this is getting grilled super passionately. Should we do two and a half minutes? Yeah, two and a half sounds good. Okay, it’s pretty cooked now. Now you spread the butter on like this. – Just spread it over.
– Got it. And now the jam. What do you usually like? I really love this combo. I’m a huge fan of butter and strawberry jam. Yeah? Then what’s your favorite food? Ha… Is it hard to choose? I seriously love kimchi-jjigae. Kimchi-jjigae? And I really love pickled myeonginamul when I eat samgyeopsal. Oh, that’s pretty specific. Whenever I order from a barbecue place that’s the one thing I always check. Whether they give you myeonginamul or not. Whether they give it or not? Then you probably order from that Ha** Pig place a lot, right? How’d you know? And when I came on Cold Interview Sakura introduced gaebul. – Gaebul?
– Yeah. I didn’t even know gaebul existed before but I saw what it looked like and was like – “There’s no way I can eat that.”
– Right? That’s gotta be tough. But once I tried it it was totally my taste. I kept thinking about it even at home – so I ordered some, but it just wasn’t the same.
– Really? Turns out the one I had was super fresh. Do you usually like seafood? – I do.
– Oh yeah? You don’t? I love it. – I’m a total seafood killer.
– Then do you eat gaebul too? I love gaebul. Oh! Where’s your favorite spot for gaebul, then? – A favorite spot?
– Yeah. You’re just hitting me with that question? I wasn’t ready for this one. I should go look it up, right? Should we ask ChatGPT? Isn’t that something you’d have to go all the way to Haenam for? Enjoy. Enjoy! So, how should we cut this? – Like this?
– Yeah. It’s probably better in four pieces, so it’s easier to eat, right? Mm, I’ll cut it like this. Ah, it’s falling apart. It’s escaping. Thank you for the food. Honestly, I don’t know if this’ll taste good. Mm! – How is it?
– It’s good. – Really?
– Yeah. Yeah? Let me try. Mm… Mm, it’s good. Sweet and salty. – Can I have another one?
– Yeah, yeah. Mm! – It’s good?
– Mm! Mm! I’ve been ordering hotel breakfasts so often I started thinking, “How else can I eat this?” and I mixed a bunch of things together and ended up with this. It’s good. I’m gonna try this too. Okay, then since you made this dish you need to name it. The name of the dish? I’m really bad at naming things like this. I don’t have any clever ideas. Ah, this is driving me nuts. Since you’re making a comeback, maybe tie it in with your album or something. – Oh, should I?
– Yeah, go with that. Okay. “Sexy Toast.” But wait doesn’t that sound kind of crazy? Like a guy totally obsessed with being sexy? It’s like a guy gone off the deep end with sexy vibes. I’m dying here. Okay, then how about J-HOPE’s “Killin’ It Toast.” That’s got a good vibe. – I’ll hang the name up.
– Thanks. So now we’re at the last segment. Ah, I feel kind of heavy-hearted. We’re going to play marble flicking. – Mm, marble flicking.
– If you land it here you get to give a gift. Oh, a gift for me? Okay. You can give discount coupons to the viewers. And the coupon is for everything you introduced from your fridge today. – They can buy all of it with the coupon.
– Totally got it. – But do you really need a gift?
– Huh? You… Like with the other guests you can probably just buy whatever you want. Ah, but still, gifts are about the sentiment. If I manage to win and give it to you will you really use it? Like forever? I’ll totally treasure it forever. You won’t just use it carelessly, right? – Of course not.
– Alright. I’ll give it a shot. You’ll keep it as proof, right? Ahh! I don’t think I can do this! If I try and it goes somewhere weird can we just call it a “challenge attempt”? Like, a punk? – Can we?
– Wow, that’s the kindest way I’ve ever seen someone ask such a bold question. You’re so sweet but also firm. Can I count it as a challenge attempt? Like a punk? Challenge! Whoa! That worked, right? That’s insane! What a miracle! Here’s a gift! Whoa, what is this? What is it? Why is it so heavy? Can I open it? Why is it so heavy? Ah, I think I’m gonna sleep like a baby tonight. This is insane. But seriously how did it land right there so perfectly? You should take over hosting now. I’m done for the day. Oh, what is this? This is so fancy. This is insane. What do I do? It’s beautiful. It’s so pretty. Wow, I got this plate from winning the marble game. I feel proud. I guess I’ll be eating everything with this from now on. I really went through all that… Even said you’d act like a punk just to give you this. “Can we call it a challenge? Like a punk?” “Like a punk?” Alright, let’s give it a go. Challenge! Tap tap tap tap. Okay, that’s the feel. Ah, wait, if it’s like this… Just once? Ah, okay, okay. That was intense. Alright, challenge! What do I do? Hang on a second. Okay. That was about 30% just now. – But it bounced, it bounced off.
– It went in, then bounced back out. It bounced off, huh? It really went in. It seriously did. Oh really? So what’s the penalty? Whatever you tell me to do, SANA, I’ll do it. Sexy dance? That’s tough, huh? Sexy dance? Yeah… How am I even supposed to do a sexy dance here? How should I do it? Please give me one more chance. Alright, challenge. I really gotta end this now. Okay. Fighting! Challenge! Okay, let’s go. Alright, whew! Okay, everyone. Wait, is this even a sexy dance? You gotta move fast on things like this. Let’s go. Challenge! This one’s in! That counts, right? 50%, 50%. You got 50% while dancing sexy! My sexy dance… wasn’t for nothing. Alright, whew! Okay, everyone. Wait, is that even a sexy dance? How was today? – Honestly, I was kinda nervous.
– Why? Because we were both active around the same time but this was actually my first time doing something like this with a fellow female colleague. I’ve never been on a show like this. I’m actually kinda shy so I was worried about it, but instead you led everything so smoothly. – I was genuinely touched by that.
– Really? Thank you so much. Even though I might not seem like it I actually get really nervous on the inside. But today, none of that showed. You were so easy to talk to you were really warm and welcoming and reacted to everything so well so I felt brave and had so much fun. I honestly should be the one thanking you. – I’m glad, really glad.
– Seriously, thank you so much. And now I get why SANA’s Cold Interview has been able to last so long. You really make people feel at ease, and it’s so fun. The positive energy just comes through. There’s definitely a reason it’s been going for this long. As expected, sunshine keeps dropping compliments like crazy. – He really does.
– The host does it all. Turns out Cold Interview is all about the host! That’s what it feels like. Anyway, it was really great to see you again. And now, a message for ARMY. It’s always, um… I’m trying to do things I’ve never done before for you all trying to show you different sides of me and that’s why I came on this amazing show SANA’s Cold Interview to show you a fun version of me. Same goes for the new song… This new song I worked hard on it to show a different side of J-HOPE. Various… um… Various… I just said “various” so many times, right? Anyway that’s the kind of song it is. I really hope you check it out and show it lots of love. I put everything into it so I hope you enjoy it. Love you. That’s it from – J-HOPE…
– And SANA. Thank you! Today, J-HOPE managed to get a whopping 50% discount coupon and there are only 5,000 of them so hurry to the “more” section and grab your coupon and make good use of it. Bye! See you next week. That marble game got me all sweaty. I’ve never played marble flicking this passionately before. One, two, three. One, two, three. Perfect. Just perfect. Whoa, here we go! – Thank you for your hard work.
– Thank you. Seriously, thank you so much for everything.

Hobi 💜🫰🏻
I'm a solid fan of Twice and BTS. Sana has a promising career as a TV host. She commanded presence and kept the interview in control. They (BTS management) should have let her ask the more interesting questions or allowed her to flirt more. 😄Sana is a natural.
