It dodges the Palico’s attacks lightly and counterattacks when there’s an opening, almost as if it’s teasing. This repeated training likely leads to smooth movements in the field. Purewasp Delivery With Purewasp Delivery, the Palico brings a Purewasp to cure status effects. It clings to the wasp, flies to the hunter, and hits them with healing mist to cure the ailment. Provoke Provoke uses a special sound-emitting shield to attract a monster’s attention. The shield has a cute design resembling a cat’s face, complete with ears and paws. Sound is produced by slamming the paws against the main body. Because the shield is sturdy, it also seems quite heavy. In the training area, the Palico is seen lifting the shield for strength training. After several lifts, it gets crushed by the sheer weight. Yet even after being crushed, the Palico stands back up, showing its dedication. Place Paracorn Paracorn is a dedicated trap placed by the Palico. When the winged acorn is stuck into the ground, electrically charged web-like threads spread out. Any monster that touches this trap will be paralyzed for a short while. This creates a perfect opportunity for hunters to launch their attacks. Although this trap is powerful, it requires regular maintenance to stay effective. In Kunafa, Windsong Village, Palicoes can be seen inspecting their traps. However, one accidentally triggers the trap and gets shocked by it. Through this mishap, the Palico learns firsthand just how effective the trap is. Let-‘Er-RRRip Let-‘Er-RRRip is a mobile ballista that the Palico pushes, designed with a cute cat face. Its front features a big round cat face, with alert ears and prominent whiskers. Despite its humorous design, it serves as a legitimate weapon. Mounted on a push cart, the ballista is designed for easy maneuvering by the Palico. When aimed, the cat’s mouth opens and fires a special thorn projectile. At the Wudwud Hideout in the Scarlet Forest, a Palico carefully maintains the weapon. They focus especially on the ballista mechanism to avoid malfunctions in the field. Due to its complex design, it requires daily inspections and upkeep. Sporenet Sporenet boosts both attack and defense through its melodic tones. Looking like a horn, this instrument is larger than the Palico’s body. The Palico lifts it over their head and blows with full effort. During performance, the tip inflates and releases spore-like particles. To maintain this function, the Palico meticulously cares for the instrument at Sild. They carefully inspect the mouthpiece, checking the airflow multiple times. Such preparation is essential to ensure the notes resonate properly in the field. Attract Vigorwasps When the incense is placed, wild Vigorwasps appear out of nowhere. Its scent is so powerful that it draws them even to non-habitat areas. It seems absolutely irresistible to the Vigorwasps. The cat-head-shaped incense burner looks like a simple ornament at first glance. But once lit, smoke rises, spreading its scent across the area. Eventually, the incense burns out, and the Vigorwasps fly off to parts unknown. At the base camp in Oilwell Basin, the Palico is seen shaping the incense. It’s adorable to see the Palico gently patting the incense with a serious expression. Flashfly Cage The Flashfly Cage consists of a basket woven with branches attached to a mossy base. Inside, a flashfly begins to glow when the Palico places the cage. It can emit a flash at any chosen moment, making it especially effective against flying monsters. In Suja, the Palico is seen maintaining this cage. Perhaps it’s removing unnecessary leaves or thorns. Then, the cage snaps back due to a strong pull, hitting the Palico on the head. It’s a heartwarming scene that fits the relaxed atmosphere of Suja. Rath-from-Above Next is the Rath-from-Above, co-developed by the Palico and Gemma. A balloon suspends a vessel modeled after Rathalos’s face. The Palico boards it to provide aerial bombardment support. During bombardment, Rathalos’s mouth opens wide to fire projectiles. Occasionally, the barrel glows white, unleashing a powerful blast akin to a wyvern fire. When flight time runs out, the Rath-from-Above shakes violently and loses control, finally diving toward the monster and exploding. Just before the explosion, the Palico escapes safely using a parachute. It’s a romantic and powerful support action. Plunderang Next is the Plunderang, a reliable support action for gathering materials. Normally, the Palico throws a cross-shaped boomerang made of bones to attack. In contrast, the Plunderang has numerous blades of various sizes attached. These blades likely snag materials, allowing for plundering. Sometimes, rare materials like gems or plates can be obtained, showcasing its effectiveness. This unique boomerang was inspired by the Plunderblade of the Grimalkyne in the New World. At the base camp in the Scarlet Forest, the Palico is seen maintaining a different boomerang. With a desperate look, it’s rapidly polishing the surface. Is it sharpening its claws or the boomerang itself? To boost attack power, maintaining the sharpness of the boomerang may be crucial. Vigorwasp Revival Vigorwasp Revival plays a vital role as an insurance when the hunter falls. When the hunter faints, the Palico throws a special Vigorwasp. The hunter gets back on their feet and gives the Palico a thumbs-up. As the Palico levels up, it uses a large Vigorwasp that also heals HP. It’s a trump card that can nullify a faint, truly a life-saver support action. The Palico isn’t just cute. It’s a dependable partner you can entrust your back to. Behind every Palico’s support action lies tireless effort and daily maintenance. From healing and aiding, to collecting materials and placing traps. Small in size, but a mighty help in the hunt.
