[SUB] 도쿄 최대 규모 경마장이 있는 곳?! 후추시 탐방 | 오쿠니타마 신사, 카레 맛집, 향토의 숲 박물관, 산토리 맥주 공장

Hello, guys. Today I’m here at Fuchu Station. Fuchu is a neighborhood just a little outside the city center,
so it has a bit of a countryside vibe too. It’s located just south of Kokubunji,
which I introduced not too long ago. Since it only takes about 20 to 25 minutes from Shinjuku Station on the Keio Line, a lot of people look for budget-friendly accommodations around here. Since it only takes about 20 to 25 minutes from Shinjuku Station on the Keio Line, a lot of people look for budget-friendly accommodations around here. When people think of Fuchu,
the keywords are nature, relaxation, and a slower pace of life. But at the same time, there are also plenty of active spots around here! Today, I’m going to show you
the many different sides of Fuchu City. I’ve actually come to Fuchu more often for filming than just hanging out. And one thing I always notice the moment I step out of Fuchu Station is how pretty the street in front of the station is. And one thing I always notice the moment I step out of Fuchu Station is how pretty the street in front of the station is. There’s a zelkova tree-lined road that stretches about 700 meters right in front of the station. In Tokyo, you’ll often see ginkgo or cherry blossom tree-lined streets, but here, the tall zelkova trees make this road feel really special, it’s the kind of place you just naturally want to walk through. It’s even been designated a Natural Monument in Japan. No wonder it feels so special! And when you spot signs around here that say things like “Hotto suru ne, En no Fuchu”
“Fuchu City,” You get this sense of calm — almost like the green,
peaceful side of Fuchu is being highlighted. The name “Fuchu” itself has historical roots. “Fu” (府) means government or administration, and “Chu” (中) means center. Tokyo used to be known as the Musashi Province, and back in those days,
this area was the political center of the region. If you come here on weekends or holidays, it’s even more fun! Just like the pedestrian-only streets in Ginza, they block off car traffic, so the tree-lined road becomes a walkway for everyone to enjoy. It’s always a beautiful path to walk.
It’s peaceful and full of charming zelkova trees. [Okunitama Shrine]

with nearly 1,900 years of history, it’s one of the oldest shrines in Tokyo. It enshrines the guardian deity of Musashi Province, and it’s well known as a place to pray for happiness, love, and protection from misfortune.
They even hold wedding ceremonies here! [Hitogata Nagashi

a traditional Japanese purification ritual where a paper doll made of washi is used to symbolically absorb physical injuries, bad luck, or misfortune. The doll is then floated down a river or into the sea to carry those negative energies away. I think I will try to do Hitogata Nagashi
First, I dropped 100 yen into the box and wrote my name on the paper doll. Then I rubbed it over parts of my body I wanted to heal or protect. Even though I eat a lot,
I focused on my stomach for good health. After that, I breathed on it to add my energy
and gently released it into the water. Goodbye… it’s melting now… how fascinating! My stomach’s not in bad shape, I just wanted it to stay healthy.
And since the paper dissolved so easily, I feel like my wish is going to come true. Alright, time to grab a bite! (The show is a Japanese variety program called Ariyoshi’s Honest Walk.)

Today, I’m heading to a spot that was featured on one of my favorite Tokyo walking shows. Since I totally trust their recommendations,
I just know it’s going to be good! I usually like to look up places in advance, but this one? You’d probably walk right past it without knowing it’s a hidden gem you’d only find if you knew exactly where to go. As soon as I opened the door, the rich aroma of curry hit me it smelled amazing, like a place that has to be good. They offer a wide range of curry dishes,
so you can pick one that fits your taste. I think I remember from the show?
The hamburg steak curry here is the standout. So I’m going to order the fried egg hamburg curry for 1,000 yen. I’ve heard there are lots of
Japanese curry spots in Korea these days, but this flavor feels like something you can only get here in Fuchu. The smell alone is already so satisfying.
They first brought out a salad and it’s bigger than I expected,
even with pasta noodles mixed in. By the way, their most popular dish is the cheese omelette hamburg curry, so if you visit, you might want to try that too. And for the guys? There’s a fan-favorite called the “Nikunikuniku Curry,” which literally means meat meat meat curry, it’s loaded with char siu pork, and seems to be a big hit with male customers.🤭 Alright, let’s start with the salad and wow, it’s delicious! Before coming here, I did a lot of research on Fuchu and tried looking up some local restaurants. But suddenly, I kept finding these super countryside-style places and thought, “Wait… is Fuchu this rural? Something feels off.” Turns out, those were restaurants in Fuchu City in Hiroshima Prefecture, not Tokyo! There’s another Fuchu in Hiroshima It uses the same kanji characters. So if you’re searching for good food here, make sure to type “Tokyo Fuchu City restaurants”
or you might end up in the wrong part of Japan Anyway, my curry is here! The hamburg steak cuts so smoothly In Japan, we have something called yoshoku Which refers to Western-style dishes with a nostalgic Japanese twist. Hamburg steak and curry are total classics in yoshoku cuisine. Who wouldn’t like this menu? I mean, the fact that I can eat curry and hamburg steak in one dish? That alone makes me so happy. Let’s take a bite of both together! Here we go! With expectation, I will have one bite! Oh! The curry isn’t too spicy, it actually has a bit of tanginess to it, and it pairs perfectly with the rich, meaty flavor of the hamburg. It has that comforting homemade vibe, but with a depth of flavor you could never recreate at home. Let’s break that runny yolk and mix it in I can already tell it’s going to be amazing.
(Truthful eyebrows make an appearance.) A sprinkle of fried onions on top adds such a nice smell, texture, and flavor boost. It’s a familiar kind of delicious… 😭 I honestly wish a place like this existed near my house. I took the hamburg episode video before and I’ve tried all kinds of hamburg steaks, even modern styles, but this one has such a warm, home-cooked vibe that it just feels right. I took the hamburg episode video before and I’ve tried all kinds of hamburg steaks, even modern styles, but this one has such a warm, home-cooked vibe that it just feels right. Trendy? Who needs it! This hits the spot. The portion looked big at first, but before I knew it… it was gone. (Every last bite.) The staff here were super kind too.
They even asked how I found the place, and I told them, “Oh, it’s already a well-known gem!”
Thanks for the amazing meal! So when someone asks,
“What comes to mind when you think of Fuchu City?” I feel like I’d say, “Oh! That beautiful tree-lined street.” But for most Japanese people, the first thing that pops into their head is, “Isn’t the Tokyo Racecourse in Fuchu?” I don’t usually follow horse racing, so I didn’t know much about it but it turns out, this area is actually famous for it. So I thought I’d try something new today! I’ve never covered anything horse-racing-related before, so I’m heading over to the Tokyo
Racecourse to show you what the vibe is like. I saw a sign that says “Horse Racing Street,” so I think I’m close But where’s the entrance?! I heard it’s just 15 minutes away, but the place is so huge that finding the main gate isn’t easy. There’s a sign that says “JRA”
that stands for the Japan Racing Association. And believe it or not, there’s actually a train station dedicated to this racecourse! It practically exists just for the racetrack. Today, the racecourse was closed,
so the station was completely empty. When you exit the ticket gates, the walkway leads directly to the venue, almost like a bridge connecting you straight to the Tokyo Racecourse. I was pretty bummed it was closed… so I decided to come back again the next day! 😊 (Just so you know, Fuchu-Hommachi Station and Fuchu-Keibajomae Station are actually closer to the Tokyo Racecourse!)
Now, I’m going to cross the bridge I saw yesterday and head into the racecourse 😊 Normally, there’s an entrance fee, but if it’s a non-race day, you can actually get in for free! See the screen on the left here? Before races start, this is where you can check the condition of each horse. As for seating, I heard the fourth floor offers the best view. It probably gives you a full look at the entire course from up there. And this racecourse can hold up to 225,000 people. That makes it one of the largest in all of Japan. To put that into perspective, Fuchu City has a population of around 260,000, so basically the entire city could fit inside this place.
Pretty impressive, right? But it’s not just about horse racing,
there’s so much more to see and enjoy here. You can get super close to the horses,
which was such a treat 😊 And here’s the gift shop building! They’ve got all kinds of horse-themed merch, plushies, keychains, souvenirs so it’s a great spot to pick up a little something for yourself or a friend. (Shall we head to the next spot?) Here’s a place that I think a lot of international visitors might not know There is the Suntory Beer Factory! Unfortunately, it’s closed today, so I wasn’t able to join the tour, but normally, you can book a reservation
and see the beer-making process up close! Definitely something to keep in mind in advance.
(If you’re a beer lover, this is a must-add to your travel itinerary 🍺) And now, for our final stop,
I want to introduce you to Folk Forest Park. There’s a small admission fee of 300 yen, and it turns out to be a pretty expansive place. Just like in Kokubunji,
I really love the laid-back atmosphere around here. Personally, I’m a huge fan of old architecture Whether it’s traditional Japanese kominka or vintage European buildings. This park has a variety of beautifully preserved historical structures on display. Seasonally, they also hold events, in February and March, there’s a plum blossom festival, and in summer, they host a hydrangea festival. Remember those keywords I mentioned at the beginning? Nature, healing, and tranquility.
This place captures all of them perfectly. The spots I showed you today aren’t all within easy walking distance. So to visit them all, you’ll probably need to use a mix of buses, taxis, or local trains. So to visit them all, you’ll probably need to use a mix of buses, taxis, or local trains. But the good news is, Suntory Beer Factory and Kyodo no Mori Park are located close to each other, so I definitely recommend visiting those two together! So, how was your day in Fuchu City with me today? This wasn’t one of those “Hey, you should totally come here if you’re visiting Japan!” kind of videos. It was more like, “Did you know Tokyo has neighborhoods like this too?” I also found it really interesting that I got to introduce something new ‘horse racing’ as a keyword for this area. And personally, if I ever get the chance to come back, the Suntory Beer Factory Tour is definitely at the top of my list.
