Today is my 1st day in Malé, Maldives. This city is often overlooked by tourist who come to visit the Maldives. But I think that Malé is definitely worth exploring. It’s the capital of the Maldives and one of the most densely populated city in the world. It’s a small island that over 200.000 people call home. That’s about half of the population of the Maldives. Actually Malé is just 2 square kilometres. The 6 square kilometres is with Hulhumalé.
The 200,000 + population is not just of Malé island alone. It' the population of the whole city. Which includes Malé, Hulhumalé and Vilimalé.

Enjoying your video so far, and the mosque you just saw is not the biggest or the mian mosque. It is King salman Mosque. Suadi King salman, to be specific, and also all resort islands also have mosque because maldives is 100% muslim country and all inhabited island must have a mosque whether it is a resort or a local island.

That is why I love your travelling style Ken, travel and sharing the local info with us. Its really interesting to see that most of the island have beautiful beach with crystal clear water, but seems its not the case with the sea water on the fish market area? or I cannot see it clearly on the video?

I like traveling but i got overwhelmed trying to figure out going from berlin to prague then to vienna by train. I ended up driving to Frankfurt and staying there and flying back to the usa. Wish i could just travel. So far been to Ireland, isle of man, Germany, canada, Mexico. Next i want to go to Asia somewhere.

Hey Keb, I have been to the Maldives a few times and I know many people skip Male but like you I did go around the city and stayed the night before heading to the beach resort the next day. It is worth visiting the city for a day for sure
