[SUB] 도쿄 앤티크 감성 끝판왕! 니시오기쿠보 | 킷사텐, 고민가 카페

Hello guys, today I came to Nishi-Ogikubo
This is Nishi-Ogikubo residential area
You can see this antique store and this cafe has an old atmosphere?
(*kissaten Japanese-style cafes)
I heard that there are many "kissaten".
I like that kind of thing!
Let’s spend a day together exploring retro vibes!
Shall we go?
First off, Nishi-Ogikubo Station is connected to two JR lines (Chuo Line, Seibu Line).
I also came from the Shinjuku area,
and it took about 12-13 minutes to get here.
(There are only two entrances, one on the south and one on the north!)
With only two entrances, it’s not too complicated~
When you exit from the south entrance,
you’ll find a simple shopping street like this!
If you go to the right, there’s also an izakaya street.
(I’ll show you until tonight 😊)
Later, I’ll try to capture the nighttime atmosphere too.
There are so many stores here that I’ve never seen before,
and they’re really simple~
Oh?! And I heard that the elephant friend above the shopping street
here is the signature elephant of Nishi-Ogikubo.
I’ve done a lot of research, and I’ve heard that Nishi-Ogikubo is..
a neighborhood where unmarried women
in their 30s and 40s want to live.
I’m a single woman in my 30s, hehe, so I got really curious~
Nishi-Ogikubo is located between
Ogikubo Station and Kichijoji area
Both are much bigger than here,
especially Kichijoji, where there are a lot of things to do like department stores, shopping malls, and more.
So people hang out there, buy what they need,
and when they come to Nishi-Ogikubo where they live,
it’s a quiet neighborhood
It’s quite and there are not many people
So, it seems like people here have a lifestyle where they divide their time between leisure and rest,
which I think is nice.
It seems like the reason why you find it more
comfortable as you look around is this.
Wow
the atmosphere itself feels like it could be in a movie
I’ve heard there are a lot of antique
and vintage stores around here.
What would you call it…?
They’re stores overflowing with originality.
Right now, the streets are filled with an ethnic scent
I’m trying to eat first,
I heard it’s only 2-3 minutes away from the southern entrance.
We’ve been to many quaint residential areas through our YouTube shoots,
but this place definitely feels retro!
Keeping to this moderate balance
makes me feel relieved, you know?
Wow, the izakaya here will surely cool at night!
The atmosphere is just so nice!
It feels like the ambiance from 50-60 years ago still here.
(Today’s Lunch – Indian Curry Specialty Restaurant ‘Tarikaro’)
It’s written that the store is on the right, let’s go check it out.
I heard this is a southern Indian curry restaurant.
First, I need to choose a curry.
They have a lunch menu and you can try
these 4 types of curry so I guess I will order this!
Guys it’s here~ I will show you~
I think it was the good choice to order this set
They even gave instructions on paper,
but the staff kindly explained it separately,
so I understood easily.
The reason they leave this bowl outside is to mix everything evenly on this large plate.
The reason they leave this bowl outside is to mix everything evenly on this large plate.
They said to mix the chicken with the rice
I’ll try it when it’s warm
It’s unique way to eat~ I’m so excited~
They send these friends outside,
and you release the chicken when it’s warm.
It’s really soft and tender~ it comes apart so easily~!
And it seems like you just mix these friends like bibimbap!
Looks delicious, doesn’t it, everyone?
Let’s taste each one by one!
Chicken, keema, shrimp, and beans, I think!
I’ll start with the beans!
I wonder what the bean curry tastes like…
Mmm~ It’s so full of beans, mild and creamy!
It seems like there’s yogurt in it, and it’s really delicious…!
Next is the shrimp! Oh?
The shrimp is slightly spicy from the start,
but the delicious nuttiness of the shrimp is felt,
and as soon as you take a bite, the spicy flavor kicks in!
I like this spicy taste! And now, the keema curry!
They say they put minced meat in chicken.
After eating it, the spicy taste hits you after 0.1 seconds,
but the authentic smell of spices is so delicious!
Lastly, the chicken!
Wow, it has such a deep flavor!
it’s slightly spicy,
but it’s not just spicy and it’s addictive…!
The spiciest for me is the keema curry,
so when I eat the keema curry, I’ll add a lot of yogurt!
(Nods) (This is the taste, indeed~)
I was able to enjoy it deliciously
with various flavors and spiciness!
Guys, I had a good food
It was a bit spicy towards the end,
but it wasn’t just spiciness, it was delicious, so it was good!
There was a lot of food, so even though I’m full,
I’m planning to digest it while taking a walk! Let’s go!
I’d like to introduce a cafe that would be nice to visit
when you come to Nishi-Ogikubo.
Today’s cafe is the book cafe "Shoanbunko".
The "bunko" in Shoanbunko means "library".
First of all, the building itself has a very atmospheric appearance, doesn’t it?
In Japan, there are many cases where buildings
over 50 years old are built with wood,
*Kominka: Traditional Japanese houses.
and such houses or buildings are called "kominka".
These days, there are many cases where old buildings are renovated and opened as shops,
and this place is also a kominka cafe.
You can enjoy coffee in a good atmosphere while reading books inside, and the food is also delicious!
It was a cool space
They say they’re closed on Mondays to Wednesdays,
so be sure to check the opening hours!
We’ve been visiting various places in Tokyo on our YouTube channel,
not just well-known neighborhoods like
‘Ginza, Shibuya, and Shinjuku’
but we’ve also started to visit minor areas.
What do you think, Mint fans?
Actually, this neighborhood doesn’t seem to be where people who are new to Tokyo would come,
but rather, it’s not easy for foreigners to come,
so we’re working hard to film, thinking,
"You can enjoy it through our videos!"
In fact, new buildings tend to become similar in any country,
but old buildings have different personalities
in each country, don’t they?
(Seeing buildings with old-fashioned sensibilities is so enjoyable!)
I think there’s a pleasure in seeing that, don’t you?
And guys..! When it comes to Nishi-Ogikubo,
I definitely wanted to come here too!
This place is also an old-fashioned kominka building.
It used to be a restaurant,
but now it’s changed into a prop shop!
Today’s prop shop is ‘Iwami Ginzan Gungendo’.
You can only explore up to the first floor of the shop,
but even the second floor is so pretty
and it feels like it could appear in a movie.
This place is called ‘Shimane-ken’
and it has its main branch in the south of Japan.
There, it’s said to be a space
where you can stay and dine like a ryokan.
Wasn’t it so beautiful, everyone?
Just coming to one shop here
makes it worth visiting Nishi-Ogikubo.
I bought some tea, and they beautifully packaged it for me.
While sipping tea, I’m thinking about this shop.
I highly recommend it to those who want to buy
something traditional and pretty in Japan!
Ah… nice…*
After eating delicious curry! Exploring a cool prop shop!
Now, isn’t it time for some coffee cravings?
This is the Nishi-Ogikubo neighborhood!
Kitasen is famous, you know?
If you think of Kitasen as a traditional Japanese-style cafe,
could you compare it to a Korean coffee shop?
The place that looked the best to me is here!
Today’s cafe is Kitasen "Dongguriya"!
This shop opened in 1974, so it’s been over 50 years.
There are still many Kitasen places in Japan, you know?
There are many places that can be called Kitasen,
but there aren’t many places that still
have that real old-fashioned atmosphere.
But here, it feels like time has stopped,
and the old-fashioned sentiment remains,
so it feels a bit different.
I love it~
I ordered a cafe latte and a gateau chocolat,
and they have a great vibe.
I spent a relaxing time in a serene atmosphere~*
I came back to Nishi-Ogikubo Station, but the sun started to set
Today, I wanted to show you
the night atmosphere of Nishi-Ogikubo,
so I waited a bit~
Let me show you the izakaya street at the southern exit!
It’s lively as night falls,
but it’s a calm liveliness, right?
It’s the time when people start gathering after work.😊
It seems even prettier when I take pictures with this camera.
While being in Nishi-Ogikubo, I felt this interesting retro vibe.
It’s not just a superficial retro to attract people,
but it’s really authentic and has a sense of daily life,
making it more convincing, haha.
I think that’s the charm~
I became curious about how
these old buildings are still preserved.
So, how was it to explore Nishi-Ogikubo today?
It felt like time was standing still,
and my heart felt relieved
It was such a great time getting to know
a new neighborhood in Tokyo
Well, that’s it for today’s video~
Shall we go for a drink~?

  10. The way you interpret the atmosphere of the town is quite elegant and marvelously entertaining. Also the way you speak korean expressly in this video delivers a unique linguistic lyrical rendition of how you experienced the township with food, coffee and antique elements. I would venture to say that your synthetic judgement to analyze things must be from your intelligence and academic experiences.
Wish you huge success than ever before!
