  1. im writing my thesis about tang ping's socio-economic factors rn and 996/ unhealthy work culture is definitely a key player in the phenomenon

  2. american propaganda against China will never work – while Millions of american people are suffering back home

  3. heres a nice question you can ask the Chinese populous.

do they know that their government is bullying other countries over the ILLEGAL "9-11 dash line" theyre trying to take in the seas?

how their government is pouring cyanide in our west Philippine seas?

how their government is illegally constructing and taking our islands and other countries sea territory?

that i think is a more current and important questions to ask dont you think so?

  4. If you ever article student for accounting or law firms, in North America, you can count on 80 to 100 hours a week of work with no over hours because you are on fixed salary. And if you are in the IT industry, you can sleep at your desk without day offs. 996 is described as hard on workers in China but 996 is a luxury for some workers in North America. Try to have to three jobs in North America just to pay the rent.

  5. Well, work more than 66 hours a week is the normal routine for me in china. Crazy! Every company I had stayed are overworking. Incredible China!

  6. At any time, anywhere in the world there are people working overtime, with no extra pay.

  7. That young girl so clearly over worked… her talking is slow and movement is slugish.
People are the only thing of value in a country. Wasting such valuable resource to chase some imaginary goals and competitions that exist only in some sick persons head is very short sighted.
As someone that have worked 100h weeks for months to get an employ to the point they pass away from exhaustion is only one thing.
Criminal neglect from company and supervisors. That person didn't work in a hole in the ground… he was surrounded by people all the time… they were just trained to ignore employee plight until the worst happened.
Getting someone killed from over work is not a one off "bad day" but at least a few months of criminal neglect and complete system failure.

  8. It was wild a few years ago. The big tech companies in China would require people to work 12 hours a day. Now it's becoming better, even ByteDance (TikTok company) who had the worst overtime is toning down due to social and government pressure

  9. It is wrong to say “China economy is developing very well”. At least the host should know that China economy has been going down rapidly these years. You may say that proudly a decade ago but it hasn’t been the same for years.

  10. I’ve been working in China for about two years now. Not much over time. 90% of the time it’s 9:30-6pm. One hour for lunch.

  11. the Chinese working culture is disastrous, because there are no real labor unions for all the workers. the so-called labor unions in factories or companies are all composited by the managers of the factory or company, they are on the side of the boss rather than the workers. in this term, China is much worse than most of the countries in the world, such as Vietnam.

  12. It would be nice if the industry of the interviewees was displayed because that’s a big factor of the 996 culture. The guy who spoke about retaining top talent in China was very well spoken.

  13. The one who wears black pullover, very clever to answer the question. I hope company either it small or big business can apply the work life balance for the workers. Or set up overtime limit. Even in hospitality, construction and startup. I have seen it many times

  14. 5:08 men is very intelligent and talk about main issue of developing countries as well, talent draining by high salary of US. All the developing countries are facing the same issue.

  15. The current situation in China is very fragmented. There are huge differences between big cities and small cities, and between different industries and different types of work. Street interviews will have little effect, because assembly line workers are so squeezed that they have no time to hang out on the streets. If you go to second- and third-tier cities Interview employees in small private companies and manufacturing factories, and you will find the answers you want.

  16. In this movement, They said the older generation mindset is outdated , life is not about work, and they have rights that need protection. I don’t know why we are protecting this weak mindset , but if your drive is not there, you don’t understand the importance of giving more than you are paid, doing more than you should, or sacrificing for work, then you deserve to slide lower to be at the minimum wage level. U have zero appeal to a company, and you will be irrelevant in time to come. If you are a youth, you are blessed with this wonderful situation . As long as u dun get this disease , you will easily stand out , much easier than the previous generation which has no such mental condition. At the end of the day, in a society , there are the better ones and the losers, it’s part of human evolution .

  17. As I thought, the 996 culture is only for specific niche industries like tech firms and startups.

  18. The opinions of the last guy habour lots of wisdom. But not all ppl can get an enjoyable work/working environment with fair pay.

When the work is filled with unfairness, fatigue and exploitation and one still equate life with work, then i will feel miserable for that situation.

  19. Working and not getting paid for it is slavery, only sad and brainwashed people call it work culture.

  20. i work a 4 day workweek it sounds amazing but i still have only 2 days of weekend so in the end theres not really that much of a difference.

  21. very good brainwashing in china. I came from Hungary, I grew up in communism and the mentality was the same. You must work till death. And you work for the rich peoples not for yourself. In Japan died the peoples also through overworking… But in Europe do you have also this tendence. Slavery-society. In agrar-industry… in winter you must not work. So do you have ca. 6 month free.

  22. As a millionaire, I laugh at these people. Pathetic people who haveg. I can afford to work as much as I want or as little as I want

  23. Compared with Russia, the Chinese are great.
China has a population of 1.4 billion. They did not engage in aggression, but worked hard to serve customers around the world, produce cheap industrial products, and promote the development of the world economy.
China's young people are not robots, but thoughtful and honest people.
They have nothing but benefits for the world economy.

  24. I run my own company in China. As management, I do not encourage lengthy overtime work. That said, during busy seasons when overtime work is absolutely mandatory, I myself work on a 007 schedule.

  25. I'm an overseas Chinese. I'm an engineer by training. I have worked as an engineering consultant, project manager, construction manager and general manager.

I have been working professionally for almost 50 years. When I first started working for an engineering consulting firm, I used to work everyday, 12 to 14 hours until the project was completed. Sometimes that lasted 2 to 3 months. The company did not pay for my overtime but they were charging my overtime to the clients. That carried on for 1.5 years. Then one day I received a very large overtime pay. I guess the company found out they were not abiding by the labour laws. But they still cheated on me. They only paid me straight time. I knew they charged me out at 1.5 times.

I do not agree with the 996 culture in Chinese companies. For one, they are cheating the workers. Furthermore, efficiency goes down after working long hours. Errors happen more often. Safety level goes down because of lack of concentration. Workers burn out more often.

If a company has to depend on the 996 work schedule, it means that the upper management does not know how to manage the company and does not know how to plan and resource the project.

Chinese companies should try to compete against Western companies on a similar work schedule. They should hire the right people, train them well, provide suitable support so that they can win on the same schedule.

Work life balance is very important for the health and well-being of the workers and their families.

I worked in China before. I was the construction manager for Dell's first factory in Xiamen. I helped design and construct China's first LNG Project in Guangdong.

I worked 8 hours a day. 5 days a week. So do most of my Chinese colleagues. We finished these projects on time and within budget.

  26. When did AsianBoss become a China smearing, American propaganda channel? Maybe it always has been.
