Today’s destination is Nikko in Tochigi Prefecture This is my first time coming to Tochigi Prefecture, so I am very much looking forward to it! Today’s Companions Today we plan to visit Nikko Toshogu Shrine and other typical spots! Now, let’s go to Toshogu Shrine… There were cars waiting for parking all the way around here, so it was a great decision to park in town! On the way, I found a Western-style restaurant that I had my eye on. Meiji no Yakata 2339-1 Yamauchi, Nikko-shi , Tochigi 321-1431

There was an austere atmosphere in this area that I had never felt before! Oh, this crowd…? The ticket office is located in the same building, and the price was 1300 yen. I was a little surprised because I thought it was free. I’ll get my $1300 worth …! This is a shrine dedicated to Ieyasu, and it is gorgeous! Unlike other shrines I’ve visited, this one is very glamorous. And here are the three monkeys in the famous “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. It’s kind of comical and cute.
The architectural decorations are gilded and gorgeous. What surprised me was the detailing of the ornaments. I think this is something you have to see with the naked eye to understand. When you visit Toshogu, be sure to observe every detail! Now I’m off to the main shrine to pay my respects.

I had to buy it, so I ordered it right away! Sesame dumpling with Kurumi miso sauce 400 yen
There was also an eat-in space inside, so we will have it here. The dumplings were very fragrant and the dumplings were firmer than expected! The sweet and spicy walnut sauce and black sesame seeds go well together. The weight is surprisingly heavy.
Nikko has a wide variety of gourmet food, so you may want to eat sparingly ◎. This is the route and it takes about 30 minutes by car It is much colder here than in Nikko. Go see Kegon Falls before it gets dark! Wow… This is a free spot to overlook the falls. It’s a bit far, but you can see the entire waterfall. And if you take the special elevator, you can see the waterfall up close.
Elevator ticket is 570 yen for adults. What a fresh idea to take an elevator to see a waterfall! After getting off the elevator and going through the tunnel… A powerful waterfall in front of you…! This one is said to be one of the three waterfalls in Japan along with Nachi and Fukuroda.
The drop is a whopping 97 meters! When viewed from below, the power is unbelievable! It’s beautiful today, but it will be even more beautiful on a snowy day… A little refreshment after splashing around in the water. I think it is worth paying 570 yen…!
